Saw a clip earlier of Dotard saying "I can do whatever I want. I'm the president."

I swear there used to be a huge percentage of our population who were horrified at the prospect of this happening. It's like all they talked about. I wonder where they went.

Brisket beat me to it.  Every single motherfucker that protested Jade Helm voted for Trump.

It's been said that you could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. But what if the crime being looked at by the grand jury involves a ham sandwich?

Guess we found our answer.

so, you can't indict a ham sandwich...thrower?

I can remember saying that to someone on 1/6. “Well, at least this ends his political career.”

Democrats had the White House and both houses of Congress.

And here we are.

It's amazing.

Which is why, as the mob broke through the Capitol doors, my immediate shout at the radio was "they have to shoot them, they have to shoot them NOW!"
The choice not to open fire on a mob of violent terrorists openly bent on assassinating members of Congress and overthrowing the government was the pivotal mistake that meant death to the Republic.  A nation must defend itself with full and lethal force in such circumstance, or demonstrate it to be a tissue-paper-weak entity that can be destroyed with minimal effort.  We chose poorly.  And it means our death as a country.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if the mob had gotten their hands on someone. God forbid, but say Pelosi. She probably wouldn’t have made it out alive, at which point maybe that’s when the mob would have been fired upon? Dark stuff but it came very close to happening.

For this, the Biden administration, Merrick Garland, Jack Smith and even the Democratic Party can only be considered abject failures.

The Democratic Party failed to stop fascism and barbarism when it was right before the eyes of the entire freaking world. The Jan 6 committee provided the details.

Bottom line, the Democratic Party simply let Trump et al off the hook... after he tried to overthrow the government.

As a consequence, secular democracy is toast.

Total Failure.

It's also a total failure on the part of the American people. We're still too comfortable to do much about it.

No, they didn’t. They did not have the Senate thanks to Joe Manchin.

Trump Threatens to Prosecute George Soros and His ‘Wonderful Radical Left Son’: ‘We’re Watching You!’

https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/trump-threatens-to-prosecute-george-soros-and-his-wonderful-radical-left-son-were-watching-you/

Quote

President Donald Trump threatened George Soros and his “wonderful Radical Left son” with RICO charges in a Wednesday Truth Social post that saw him warn the duo that his administration is “watching” them.

“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,” began Trump. “We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends.”

“Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!” added the president for good measure.

Seriously, I don’t get constantly blaming a party. The majority of American voters are racist, sexiest, loud mouth pieces of human garbage. How does the opposition party change that? “Hey, the undocumented people are good hardworking people contributing to the economy and supporting their families. Let’s reform the system so that they can do so legally.” It’s not about policy, it’s about hate. That’s the American majority.

It's as simple as I laid out some years ago: the Rule of Law is a compact.  When one material party opts out of that compact, it is dissolved, and at that point ALL parties are opted in to "Rule of the Gun."

That's where the GQP went on Jan 6th, unambiguously and without any hint of reservation.  They chose Rule of the Gun.  The rest of us failed to play the game pursuant to those new rules.

When a nation is attacked by people acting outside the Rule of Law, the only response that will give the nation a chance of survival is to respond in kind.  Had Jan 6 ended with a stack of terrorist mob bodies in the Capitol, we would have had a chance of surviving.  Instead, we treated people who had opted out of the Rule of Law as if the Rule of Law applied to them.  It did not.  And that mistake has proven to be our undoing.

But have no fear.  Once a society has opted into Rule of the Gun, all matters will eventually be decided under that new set of rules.  The only question is how big the body count will ultimately be.

And past being too comfortable, it is socially unacceptable to empirically observe the state of things. "Just be happy about the football season" kind of shit

I don't know. Maybe the people who vote for the opposition party should confront the racist, sexist, loud mouth pieces of human garbage and hold them accountable at work, in their community, in their family, etc. Maybe we should start treating the existential threat to democracy like an existential threat to democracy.

But football starts Saturday,  so . . .

Liberal baby boom incoming. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce engaged. 9/11 for late 20 year olds with a girlfriend.

And in response Trump says Swift is a 'terrific person", seemingly completely oblivious that he's said all kinds of horrible things about her. I'm really starting to believe there are multiple personalities at play here. nsiap.

Trump Forgets He Hates Taylor Swift When He’s Told She’s Getting Married
Three weeks ago, the president called Swift a “woke singer” who is “NO LONGER HOT.” Now, he’s suddenly rooting for her relationship

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/donald-trump-taylor-swift-travis-kelce-engagement-1235416038/

His praise started with Kelce, noting, “I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy.” Then, his amnesia settled in and all of the criticism he’s thrown at Swift — including celebrating her being “booed out of the Super Bowl,” the same one her boyfriend was playing in notably for the team that Trump was rooting for — suddenly left his mind. “And I think that she’s a terrific person,” he said. “So I wish them a lot of luck.”

Oh that's happening, lots of stories about kids cutting parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. out of their lives and not showing up for holidays anymore and letting them know why. They are okay with it and feel that they are the victim. I myself moved on from some old high school and college friends and removed myself from group texts and they know the reason. My own mother knows why I called far less frequently after a particular conversation and she didn't say a word about any of this last time I saw her and even said she stopped watching the news (my dad confirmed that she watches the Halmark channel now instead of the ragebait stations). Not sure how that would play out in the workplace since plenty of bosses are maga fucks and are paid well enough to blame all the struggling people for being lazy and poor. I don't see any way this changes. It's over imo.

I was just thinking how crazy it is that I grew up thinking Richard Nixon was as bad as it could get. Where would Watergate rank in the list of shit Trump has done? If that happened today, it would blow over/get covered up pretty much immediately and that would be the end of it.

This gives me the first glimmer of hope I've had in awhile.  Outside of Newsom trolling in all caps, this is one of the very few signs of pushback.  Congress has abdicated it's duty and the Supreme Court has given a pass.  But, at least in this case, you have to go through the voters and the voters have said enough of this shit.  Power to the people!

While I'm at it, I wonder how many of those grand jurors are fired feds?  I doubt Bondi and her team had thought that through.  I suspect they may have a harder time getting indictments than they have had in the past for Trumped up charges.  You go sammich man.

When I see people put Joe Manchin on blast it always makes me think of this quote, which I think describes him better.

Quote

Michael Clayton: I'm not the guy you kill. I'm the guy you buy! Are you so fucking blind that you don't even see what I am? I sold out Arthur for 80 grand.

Oh, now we need election integrity protection.

Trump's actions hurting election integrity

1. Cut funding to CISA’s election security programs

2. Defunded the Election Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC)

3. Withheld DHS election security grants from states

4. Issued executive orders targeting mail-in voting and voter ID rules

5. Requested sensitive voter data from states via DOJ

6. Suspended federal monitoring of foreign election interference

7. Terminated contracts for hundreds of election security personnel
