This could just be the technological advancement that proves to alien life forms that mankind is finally worthy of joining the rest of the galaxy.

Whenever I get mad about paying the 10% state income tax, I remember that I live in southern California and not in a shithole SEC state (not blaming those of you here, but objectively, Texas has let shit politicians turn it into a failed state).

I would pay a 10% tax on literally everything if it meant getting rid of these cocksuckers. Hell I'd pay 10 bucks every time I jerked off. That's a lot of money.

It’s not even a flat 10% income  tax either.  Take your investments out of the retirement accounts you have and just create a dividend portfolio with what you got. Kick the kids to the curb. 6 months California, 6 months SE Asia.

Job replacement surgery.

Looks like we are headed to at least 4% in Colorado if not 10% in CA if the Texas lege successfully passed their anti LGBTQ bills - ID reversals and complete ban on trans healthcare for all persons not just kids. Can’t say I’m excited to pay the tax I don’t want to move but I guess a tax is better than death, give me taxes and liberty baby!

Now take your house worth in Cali or CO and plug into TX property tax calculator and subtract.  It may not be a total wash but its not that different than what you are paying now.  The “no income tax” thing is a scam.  They get their money through property taxes, sky high sales tax, tolls and fees.

Exactly - The property tax savings when I lived in Colorado were significant.

Its hilarious because the income tax boogeyman isn't real. The cost to live your same life is so much cheaper there if you are higher income and live a bit of a higher end lifestyle. Property tax sub 1% in Colorado and capped and tied to purchase price in Cali.

Prices used to be more in Cali than Austin, but not anymore.

Lulz, Florida imported a bunch of fucking boomers.  Now that they sold American industry to get rich, the current model is to end public school and never sell their house. That’s what this is about.

I think it's about him being term limited and trying to set his wife up as the next governor.  But you are correct in that the racists from the NE/Midwest/Canada don't want to pay to edumucate kids with surplus melanin.

But those cuts basically defund police and fire in a shit load of places.  However, all tax cuts are good and make merica strong!

The analysis I’ve read is they’re just wanting to get studies done to see what it would look like, despite the fake posturing. Get the bill passed for the studies this session then try their hand in his final session next yr if the studies come back remotely feasible… Texas did the same thing the last year, commissioned studies. Became very clear prop tax isn’t going anywhere given sales tax would have to balloon to ~20%

No income tax here in Washington. No sales tax in Oregon. Liberal and LGBTQ friendly here on the left coast.

Maybe, but even talking about it is catnip to the people I mentioned.  That’s why you keep hearing “you shouldn’t pay tax to live in home you own after you retire.” The whole model is:

1. Offload your house up north.

2. Buy what should be a family starter home in Florida to “downsize.”

3. Live off of IRA, SS, Medicare.

4.  Underfund schools, try to eliminate property taxes, veto new construction so your house value keeps climbing and no brown people with kids move in.

5. Never see your grandkids, do nothing for your children, complain they won’t come visit.

I’m 100% aware Texas is a high tax state especially if you have an expensive home.

but yall all assume we are selling our house and moving 100%. We will do what we have to do to comply with residency requirements but my ex is here and my kids are 3 years out from graduating….. so we will have two houses and income tax in an income tax state and property tax in a high property tax state for the next 3-4 years. So we will be penalized until we can sell and move completely.

The fact that the GOP is canceling all of their Townhall meetings tells me everything I need to know about how things are going.

The funny thing is, this is just the tip of the gigantic frozen iceberg of shit we will hit eventually.    MAGA Congress is sipping cocktails aboard ocean liner Trump, and Don Junior is supposed to be up at the bow looking for Shitbergs.

This is not an “if” , but “when” we strike the shitberg…. The GOP Congress staying at home waiting for talking points to spin from Trump (or for eggs to get cheaper if you are a true believer) will not result in a better ending than was had on the Titanic.

Yeah, otherwise it would be completely fucking ridiculous to move to another state. They have schools that kids graduate from in California and Colorado too.

No one is saying it's fair, but refusing to sell your house and leaving the state is a completely "your problem", the reasons for leaving the state aside.

Why would you read it that way? It looks like she's trying to hand over more ammunition and cover for him to go through with the purges already planned.

I mean, in any organization about loyalty over competency the greatest competency is being able to finger scapegoats, and the best way to be promoted is to successfully torpedo the career (in many cases the life) of the people above you. But this seems more like documenting and making public the rationale for various career beheadings within the FBI. You know as an institution there are going to be a lot of people trying to conduct some kind of guerilla warfare to protect their organization. This seems like an attempt to root some of that out as ruthlessly as possible.

She specifies the NY office of the FBI, which is notoriously a bunch of Republicans who've been ratfucking Dems for years. It wouldn't really make sense to target them in the purge. This feels like Bondi and some others in the administration had actually convinced themselves that a lot of Epstein files were way more damning for Democrats than Republicans, while the New York office knew the truth so hid/destroyed them, and now they're all scrambling for some explanation for why they don't have anything on any Dems.

Walk a mile in my shoes - including managing an ex that’s doesn’t want to move and a court order that dictates my kids stay in their current district - then tell me I should simply sell and move completely. Thanks.
