The unity lasted quite a bit longer than just a month. In my opinion, it lasted until the start of the Iraq War. I know firsthand because was one of the only posters on Hornfans who was against the war from the beginning and knew it was bullshit yet was hounded and hated for my opinion by all of the Hornfans/Shaggy cool kids cabal. There was a lot of groupthink back then. The unity would have lasted longer if we didn’t have an idiot of a President like W.

Quite a few people were against the war back then. People hounded you because you're an insane person

I see that Johnny Sack of shit has sobered up again and is posting again. It’s early on a Friday night so maybe he’s just getting started and the fireworks are yet to come.

Well Johnny, we all know that if  “grand dragon bird” was going to increase your bank account by at least two percent you’d vote him in as president, or better yet, dear leader supreme leader to the USA. Just go ahead and deny it or let us know whatever you’ve gotta say  and let the lolz henceforth come froth.

Wait, Johnny went to rehab?

Not before it started. I remember railing on Colin Powell at the UN Security Council making the case to go to war and getting hated on. This was the fucking freedom fries era.

Well the haters were right. And this is coming from someone who supported the war at first.

Its important to recognize and admit when you’re wrong, which I was.

I was hated on for being a war hater. Voted for Kerry and Obama because I hated that war. Still pisses me off when I think of all those that died and were maimed.

We are not at the end of history. The liberal tyranny you describe is nothing more than run-of-the-mill regulated capitalism. No one on the left is calling for socialism. Americans don't even know what socialism is. From the perspective of the modern right, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were bed wetting liberals standing in the way of profit.

You are absolutely delusional.

For me giving up on it was simple. Once I learned there were never weapons of mass destruction as what was sold for its justification, I knew the whole thing was done. For a brief period of time I rationalized it by saying well maybe it will do some good anyway, but I really knew I was just fooling myself and this whole thing was a tremendous waste of life, treasure and nationwide credibility. Which it turned out to be. That happened as early as 2004 if I can remember correctly. I still voted for Bush that year, which was yet another mistake.

Poors don't buy gas? Or register their cars? One of your fellow morons upthread just claimed that corps pass all their taxes onto the consumer. Poors don't consume?

I don't mind if you call me a moron but don't lump me in with the other morons you are arguing with.  I may be a moron but I'm not that moron.

The attitudes of the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s are coming back home to roost. Overall a good thing.

Just interesting to me how much things have changed over the years and what we put up with and tolerated back then is viewed with revulsion today.  Warranted.

That said I have no idea if these allegations are even remotely true. But a deliberative body would consider them and act accordingly. We unfortunately don’t have that anymore.  And that’s a tragedy.

There have to be tens of other conservative judges that these guys could pass through without controversy. Starting to wonder why THIS dude is so important.

What does it say about you and your party if you have to go all the way back to Robert Byrd to try to “prove” a point?

All the way back?  He used the term nigger on tv in the 2000s.  Not one Democrat cared.  Your last presidential nominee was a piece of shit.

You fuckers are delusional.  Neither side is clean.  It’s all about realpolitik.

Well I can assure you we’re different people. In fact, I actually remember arguing with the guy on I think the GoBig12 website back in the day about whether to not to restore the cotton bowl to allow the Cowboys to play there. I could be wrong though as that was a long time ago. It might’ve been the early verision of Ketch’s site, the university.com. Memories fade.

I don't remember that, at least regarding the Cowboys, mostly because I don't much give a damn about pro football.  Could have been me, though.

I don't think I ever posted on something called "university.com" but maybe it had another name.  I've pretty much steered clear of Ketch over the years.

That's bullshit.  But you know that when you typed this.

Abraham Lincoln called MLK, Lyndon Johnson, James Joyce and Robert Byrd a nigger for forcing him into freeing the slaves. Ronald Reagan then outlawed crack but only if it was sold to whites and catalonians. The Great Gatbsy did not approve and killed himself on either the east or west egg, not sure which one, doestn’t really matter too much. I mean you didn’t know that?

The Q on Texags told me. Jimbo needs 95 million now since he beat Clemson, get it from the professor eggheads. Since they are worthless. Let it be known.

Trump gets a name or idea stuck in his head, he’s not going to let it go, and he will double down if people tell him to let it go.

If the Rs push Kavanaugh though without a transparent investigation into this accusation they either know Congress is lost or they are really stupid as it will fuel most women that have ever used #metoo to go out and vote against them.

tI will fuel a change of how many Justices can sit on the court. On to 12 we will go.

It's a long list.

Also, so many people don't know the difference between payroll taxes (medicare/ss) and income tax. People who pay zero in income tax still give up ~7.65% of their income in payroll taxes.
15.3%.* or do corporations suddenly not pass on taxes?

*Well, 15.3/107.65 = 14.21%, but that's not as readily apparent.

What is it with Trumpkins and the truth.  As Tantric already said, the idea the Dems didn't care is absurd, there was major pushback.

Equally egregious is that you left off the fact that he was talking about WHITE people when he said it. I suspect you knew that too, but truth is unimportant when you're trying to score quick "both sides" points.

Ironically, his use of the term was also a misguided attempt at both-sidism.

Every Democrat up for election this year is going to try to sell this.  Hell Sanders, Warren, and Harris will run for president on it two years from now.  They will claim it will be paid for by raising taxes on greedy corporations.  Now it's time for a short game of "what happens when."

What happens when communities, counties, and states raise sales taxes?  Do the businesses eat the taxes or do they pass them on to the consumer?

What happens when state and federal gasoline taxes are raised?  Do gas stations and convenience stores eat the tax hike or do they pass it on to the consumer?

What happens when local, state, or federal governments raise alcohol taxes?  Do bars and liquor stores eat the tax or do they pass it on to the consumer?

What happens when local, state, or federal governments raise taxes on ammunition sold in sporting goods stores?  Does the sporting goods store eat the tax increase or do they pass it on to the consumer?

Every tax you raise on a corporation will be a tax passed on to the people who buy the goods and services that corporation provides.   There is no free.  The consumer will be paying for it in one form or another and if they are not paying for their own they are paying for somebody else's.

And what happens when corporate tax rates are lowered? Does the corporation pass along the savings to the consumer or use it to buy back shares to prop up their stock price?

I thought about including the employer side of payroll taxes, but I didn't want to be accused of exaggerating the point :)

You think he was using the term nigger as a compliment?   Pretty much reveals Hillary’s mentor was just as much of a racist piece of shit as he was when he was a Grand Kleagle in the KKK.

The main problem I see with kavanaugh are his lies  about kozinski and Pryor. Perhaps he really does have a faulty memory but it appears that kavanaugh is lying.

He may very well think he’s telling white lies because those incidents don’t matter much in the grand scheme of things. But what else is has he decided falls into that category?
