December 28, 2025Dec 28 If you want to feel old, Seinfeld had been off the air for about six years when that Wayne Knight was born.

December 28, 2025Dec 28 I’m gonna be honest. I did not think Ty Anthony smith was gonna do much here but be a special teams guy and transfer out. Hell I figured he was too small to play lb. Really good player that brings the lumber and can tackle even with his size. Good get and hopefully Atkinson is who he thinks he is. Loss of LL should be ok hopefully.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 I really like Caleb Hawkins. Reminds me a lot of Johnathon Brooks. Don't know that he's planning to leave NT, but I'd be highly gruntled with him as one of our RB pickups.

Sark took over a lost program and since we've been to 2 semis and should have been in the playoffs this year but for a committee that doesn't understand math or probability (outside of counting losses). There aren't 5 programs in the country that have had a better 3 year run and probably just OSU and UGA (and I fully expect one of them to win it again). I don't know if Sark will take the next step or not (it's a really hard step to take) but cry me a fucking river acting like it's been so god awful with "Sark running the show". Amazing how many people have forgotten what 14 years of garbage looked like.I understand your point here but @immamac made a counterpoint about this type of thinking. In the NIL era with Texas’s massive budget and branding the coach doesn’t have to be Saban anymore to get the most talent in the country. He just has to not be a moron, seriously. Ryan day isn’t a savant. He had the best wr’s and two stud rb’s plus a talented defense and won a title with will fucking Howard at qb. Sark can absolutely turn the roster into a championship winning team but based on past failings at evaluation that seems highly unlikely.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 So wisner and team were basing their expectations on “precedent” that didn’t exist? That’s a very poorly written confusing article and I don’t know shit about the way things work in this upside down world but that seems ridiculous and makes me sad for him as it appears he’s being advised by morons.

That should be a huge red flag. Kind of terrible? He was total shit who wouldn't run between the tackles and lost his starting job to a wide receiver.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Not overpaying and allowing marginal talent to walk is only step 1. You still have to identify and sign their replacement in an open market.

I hope sark mimics his offseason moves. Find a great rb, get a game changing wr and shore up the OL but I don’t see it. I’m clearly a minority here so I’ll stop this banter.

December 28, 2025Dec 28 North Texas’s other RB hit the portal too. Ashton Gray. Redshirt Freshman 210LB back with a ton of burst and good vision. I’d take Baugh and Gray for a reasonable price.

December 28, 2025Dec 28 20 hours ago, Wulaw Horn said:Have any of you that regret any of our guys going into the portal ever managed people? It feels like you haven’t.The biggest mistake, by far, I’ve ever made in my career managing ~100 people is letting sentiment get in the way and trying to work around and scaffold Rube Goldberg machines to try to make substandard people as productive as I need or want them to be, rather than have honest and difficult conversations and just do the things that need to be done to make the organization better. There is a reason that sociopaths like Meyer and Saban have so much success playing checkers, while most human beings do stupid stuff like pay Tre or LL and try to (usually unsuccessfully) mitigate their weaknesses.Maybe Sark got some balls and is acting ruthless and they got shoved out the door, or maybe he just got lucky that in resetting their actual market value nature took its course, but we will be so much better if this continues to happen as a college football have. We have resource advantages over almost everyone. If we combine that with ruthlessly accurate decision making we won’t fail to succeed. My shitty management instincts always got in the way of me making anything I had control over excellent. Instead, I had enough positive traits I could improve where I was at bc I have some inherent talent for big picture strategy and goal setting and direction, but it wasn’t like I was great at anything I did because of these failings.I didn’t start having lots of success in my career until I started managing nobody under me (not even managing myself) and just doing what I was good at. Then, I ended up in the top 100 nationally in my career.Texas is absolutely capable of squandering all our financial and resource advantages. It looks like we won’t. Celebrate. And I will say this if a certain WR moves on as well. All hail creative destruction.thats certainly a lot of words.

Personal issues may have added to this, but probably do not tell the whole tale. How he responds to this is unknown and all the negative predictions are just speculation.

December 28, 2025Dec 28 ITWe’re still watching retention for Texas. The ball is in Trevor Goosby’s and Ryan Wingo’s court in that regard. Both would love nothing more than to return to Texas—but you know how it goes these days.More on Goosby this morningRe: The Goosby thread.Like we've said, the ball is in Goosby's court on his return to Texas. The Draft is not their preference due to his age and relative lack of experience. If Goosby walks, potentially to the portal, Texas does have a backup plan but it likely won't improve the line while still leaving issues to address on the O-line.This is a "risk on" move. Hopefully he just comes back.
