wife, daughter and I were thinking of making up some signs.  Thoughts on what they should say?  I mean, "Fuck Trump in his goatass" has a nice ring to it, but maybe something a bit more nuanced?

NYT: Trump's controversial approach leaves some people in this Southern California community wondering what should be done about his goatass.

Calling trump a name will evoke a mental defense mechanism in the dotardians.

The above message links trump to a king and tyranny.

It’s readable and easy to remember.

it’s chant-able.

I may be wrong but I’ve always believed that things in sets of three are natural for the brain.

How about

”The only King we need is MLK

Orange despot, go away.”

I like it because it rightfully elevates a black man above Trump.

I’ve decided my earlier idea of alluding to Anwar Sadat’s parade outcome doesn’t need to be on a sign in this powder keg moment.

”I’ve come to wish you an unhappy birthday” is a lock for the other side.

The issue with this is that there are things you’re for and things you’re against in the same string of messages. It takes a second glance for the brain to register what you’re for and against.

This isn’t clear for someone driving past.

I won’t have a sign, but am wearing this shirt. As many know, this is the most important thing to me and something that is going under the radar, as the Senate just more than quintupled the amount of land to be sold off than the House initially wanted.

Does the shirt communicate what trump is doing? It does not.

A sign with something like this conveys the message.

Public land

is not

for sale

I'm thinking of this:

                                                               AMERICA'S ORG CHART:

image.png.6a7d8bf0b3ce2e8042d3c9b50b7cf553.png

Also thinking of "ALL men are endowed by their creator with Certain unalienable rights."  Or:

WE are patriots

WE are for freedom

WE are for liberty

Wife is probably going with a line from Matthew 25 - GOD SAYS: Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.

Good critique.  Thanks.  How about

For The Constitution!

For Liberty!

Back:  No Kings!

No Tyrants!

No Trump!

I'm a bit torn, it's my first protest.

I'm thinking that since I'll be sneaking away from work to attend for a short time, it's valid to go in my scrubs (with the name of the hospital covered to appease the C-suite snowflakes).  A middle aged fat cis white guy with a good job is the last thing they'll be expecting.

On the other hand, this is one of my favorite t-shirts:

So there’s a protest location just down the road from us, in scenic Monroe, WA. Wife and I would like to participate but are unsure about our safety. Not so much from cops- we won’t be doing anything to get on their radar. But from a Trump supporter that decides he needs to do something like shoot into the crowd or drive into it.  And we still feel some responsibility to finish raising our kids.

A quick word about the cops.

The majority, if not all of the "official" protests organized by Indivisible/50-50-1 were planned in conjunction with local police. The cops will be there and that should surprise nobody. This was confirmed to me by our local Indivisible chapter. They won't need to enforce anything unless outside agitators show up. National guard and the jarheads are another matter, but they are too few to be anywhere other than the big downtowns.

Go home when the event officially ends, and we have a responsibility to police our own side. If we get the turnout I'm expecting, and we keep things civil, we will win over a lot of folks on the sidelines.

Take a page from 1969 and try to dress up a bit. Leave the black hoodies at home. I'll be tucking my polo shirt into my shorts. You'd think I'm a (tanned) English tourist.

I would suggest a face mask and long sleeves shirt. Try to keep face scanning technology from identifying you there. The fascists are looking for ways to quickly target dissenters if they gain more control and the crackdown really starts. Your company could be "instructed" to fire you by the government down the line just for being involved if you're identified.

Stay within eyesight of cover like a tree or rock. Fat people are great for stopping bullets. Why you see giant fat ass body guards around celebrities.

I get it. Most of us could probably cop to some apprehension about what could go wrong. But I carry some level of anxiety with me whenever I’m in public spaces - that includes church, the mall, a restaurant the theater… its America.

I saw a great one from maybe a protest in his first term that was like "can't we just skip ahead to the part where he shoots himself in a bunker?"
