This is 100% their playbook. NWS actually did a very good job at alerting. Blame everyone and accept no responsibility. We are governed by a cabal of 13 year old minds. I cannot be any more clear, everyone will suffer from this incompetence. Good job merica!

Come on man. CR this shit. Some of us care about news.

Yeah probably time to start a CR/festivus thread about these fucksticks cause I gotta lot of problems with those people.

Yes please do.  They deserve all of the criticism being heaped upon them.  And that discussion should be held in the appropriate forum.

Let me say something about the CR accusations:  I don't think any clear-minded individual would watch these dicksticks on parade and think "yep, those are some real leaders right there, yessir", regardless of party/persuasion.  These people are not only grandstanding they are getting in the way of information flow which is beyond vital at this point.

Maybe Ann Richards pulled similar stunts, I don't remember.  Shame on her if she did.  This shit should transcend politics, but somehow commenting on it is "political" when it's just factual.

Listen that's fine, but it's clearly a topic for another forum on this very message board,  that is created specifically for that kind of discussion.

Perhaps folks haven't noticed but there's an actual, ongoing, RAIN event occurring in Central Texas right now.  It hasn't stopped and in some places it's increasing.  The type of stuff that is actually appropriate for THIS thread.

Just a reminder that in Texas, the Chief Executive of a County is called "County Judge". It's like the President of the County. He or she is head of the commissioner's court, etc.

Yeah and a lot of this area is unincorporated Kerr County, so the Kerr County Judge is the authority.

Rudy during 9/11 comes to mind, CA wildfires come to mind, I remember the Bastrop fire pressers being informative, that’s just off the top of my head.

Hmm.

About Noem's statement of "Trump upgrading the technology in the National Weather Service".

I assure you he isn't, and there are no plans to do so.

Oh he's improving the NWS all right, by slashing the budget so he can pay for his tax cuts.

Yeah that's a bald faced lie.

But I think the real answer is that cell phone service sucks out there so people didn't get the blast.

I think it has been established that NWS made the warning at 114AM.

Ah the good old salad days of youth when we had lauded leadership by such solid humans as Rudy Drooliani.

My how far we have fallen.

The question was name an informative presser held by politicians not proper responses or who is a piece of shit. Doesn’t matter yall do you.

I don't think it can be parsed that fine.  This is thread for the July 4 floods, period.  There was a press conference.  It was a circle jerk.  People are angry that they aren't getting information.  It's not "CR" to be angry about a lack of information due to grandstanding politicians.

There is no way to split hairs between threads to that degree.  No way.

I disagree completely.  People are venting their anger not just about this event but about party politics in general.  Just look at the comments from all of the usual suspects about "which team" is responsible.  I'm angry about it too but that's not what this thread is.  There are current ongoing rain events.  That's what this thread is.

I think we can all agree there is no separation between  CR and no-CR anymore in 2025…. As that is what politics is now, a part of our character, psyche, and fiber.

Saying “no CR” means nothing

Well this just proves that government doesn't work and we should get rid of government. What we really need is a 1000  Paul Reveres where we have independent and local guys that ride horses house to house alerting the populace of floods tornados hurricanes and boys trying to play girl sports.

That’s certainly one way to react to holding people accountable. Bravo.

And this is the plan for federal disaster relief, which may or may not apply to Texas, because the GQP needs our shit ton of electoral votes, and as Noem couldnt stop shilling...."Trump loves Texas." We'll see.

https://www.texasobserver.org/trump-texas-doge-cuts-disaster-aid/

Quote

DOGE already cut roughly 20 percent of FEMA’s staff and moved to freeze its funds. And Donald Trump has repeatedly signaled his interest in shifting disaster relief responsibilities entirely to the states. On June 11, he made that threat more concrete by saying that his administration would start phasing out FEMA after this current hurricane season ends in November. “We want to wean off of FEMA, and we want to bring it down to the state level,” Trump said. “A governor should be able to handle it, and frankly, if they can’t handle it, the aftermath, then maybe they shouldn’t be governor.”

That, of course, would be bad news for Texas, where Republican leaders routinely play politics with disaster response and relief. Further warming in response to continuing greenhouse emissions ensures that the cost of climate change-augmented storms, floods, and wildfires will only increase with Texans prominent among the victims.

Don't blame posters for CRing this up; blame the politicians at a news conference that CR'd the hell out of it.

Bull.

Fucking.

Shit.

There's no need to discuss a political press conference on the RAIN thread.

You wanna know the right place to discuss your feelings about a political press conference.

It's the fucking CLOAK ROOM you dipshits.

I don't understand why people have trouble with this.

DT is for telling it like it is, except for when what "it is" makes some people feel bad about their political views, then it's CR.

This is the RAIN thread.

You're a complete fucking idiot if you think this thread needs to "tell it like it is" about political posturing.

Just now, royiv said:

That’s the thing. It shouldn’t be a political press conference. It should be a press conference to provide information to the public during a mass casualty event.

Awesome.  Go talk about all of the politics on the CLOAK ROOM thread about this.
