No offense but I feel like you must be willfully ignoring what's been posted here repeatedly or what's available otherwise. Here it is again. This is by no means all of it. Seriously, do you agree with him or is it still somehow inconclusive?

We are a country that values the life of a conservative podcaster more than the lives of Democratic lawmakers or children in schools.  We are a country that happily lives in two different realities curated by the algorithms in our pocket.  We are a country that is more concerned with our differences than our similarities.

I naively thought that the Democrats just had a messaging problem and that the majority of the country would agree with their ideas if they were just communicated better.  I thought that many of the Republican voters just did so out of habit or comfort and weren't truly aware of what their party stood for.  That's all bullshit.  The liberal viewpoint is the clear minority in this country.  The Democrats have lost.  When the goals of social media align so clearly with one party over the other (outrage!!!), there's nothing that can be done.  We have to accept the new reality, complaining about it now is like going to College Station and complaining that everyone is wearing maroon.

@Brisketexan - I'm climbing off the ledge.  Not because anything has gotten better, but because there's nowhere for us to even jump.  Might as well figure out how to live like this.  First step is deleting all forms of social media from my phone.  Real life is much more pleasant than life through a screen.  I only find disappointment in learning who people are behind their keyboard.

I don't know where tf to grasp hope from. This shit is coming together here pretty soon when whatever plan they have in place to make sure Trump gets his 3rd term (and then 4th and then 5th bc he will never die) culminates. Pretty sure Kirk is fitting nicely into his plans, whether it was foreseen by them or not, they are taking advantage. I log in to twitter and Musk has his personal propaganda machine just openly stating that Kirk was killed by "leftists" like it's fact. The media can't push back because they bought the media decades ago, and they're already gathered all the corporations like the infinity stones. There isn't a leader with a sack in the Democratic party to fight within the confines of whatever is left of the political system. There's fucking nothing. Since the moment he died they've bene out spouting lies in front of every camera that will record them, and who tf is left to push back? Little internet holes that cater to the types of people net-savvy enough to read Surly?

I was counting on Arch to give me some great distractions this year. So much for that shit. And apparently the only person that will outlive Trump is Jerry Jones. Could this be any more fucked?

Did you at all read Francisco 2.0's post showing the media silos that we are in and that did a good job of hiding Charlie Kirk's awful views of minorities and women from many of his more moderate fans?

Who said anything about jumping? I thought it was a watch party where we will be warmed by the distant flames and toasting Earl Campbell and VY. Drunk witnesses to history.

Ain't doin' no jumpin'.

FFS, this.

You can start with the simple direct quotes:

"You [referring to black women Michelle Obama, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and others] do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously."

The 1964 Civil Rights Act was "a huge mistake."

"If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified."

"The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different."

We should be able to "whip foreigners" in the US.

And that's just a start.  He was utterly divisive and shitty.

So, other than the horribly racist, xenophobic, sexist, dehumanizing, and hateful things he said, you have nothing to show he was a terrible person? The 5th amendment says you can't use what he said against him, so check and mate!

And those are all just racist stuff.  The gun comment about murdered children being worth it is near the top for me.

Just so I am clear, American values and Judeo-Christian principles are anti-racist.

Just browse the headlines of all of the other articles on that site. It’s like gatewaypundit, but at a lower reading level.

The last five days have been a massive flood of all the reprehensible shit Kirk said over the years, all while making a shitload of money off it. Not to mention actual actions like helping plan 1/6. Not sure how you can type “I just haven’t seen anything!” and expect to be taken seriously.

You’re mentioning 1/6 is something that is easily missed. He bussed people in. He was willing to overthrow our democracy.

The overwhelming majority of social media posters mourning his death and celebrating his life are too chicken shit to say stuff like this out loud or even acknowledge that Kirk made these comments.  Instead, they all sing the chorus of free speech, civil debate, and good Christian.

TLDR: they happily let people like Charlie use racism, division, and hate as a sword, then wrap themselves in the flag and the cross as a shield.  Because they are reprehensible, gutless cowards too yellow to own their actual beliefs.

I think the issue is that these are not divisive quotes any more.  They now reflect the majority opinion.

If you read absolutely nothing else, knowing that he blamed excessive Kerr county flood deaths on a black police chief in [checks notes] Austin solely because of her race would lead anyone with an ounce of sanity left to conclude, "hmm, this isn't a very good dude."

That's what I thought before last week.  Seeing the reaction to Kirk's death has me convinced I was incorrect.

I don't think it's even the majority yet. However, they are in nearly complete control of government and media and working on controlling education and the corporate world. They're only just beginning and starting to show that there's no more pretense to being honest or fair in how they exercise their power.

Care to explain? I don’t equate corporations and red state government officials with the majority of Americans. Not denying there was an outcry from the political right’s rank and file, but that percentage is no majority.

Trump won with a plurality, not a majority, and Democrats routinely get more votes than Republicans overall in congressional elections.

The MAGA point of view isn't anywhere close to being held by a majority of people in this country.

it's wild to me in 2025 that anyone can look at the platforms of the two major parties in this country and go, yeah, samesies. is it abortion? is that the singular issue that clouds the rest? you have a problem with terminating pregnancy early but are cool with kids getting raped once they're born? i'll probably never understand it

I used to believe that the party was full of otherwise good people who just couldn't pull the lever for abortion. I see abortion as a net positive for society, but I can understand that people who view it as the murder of innocent children won't view it that way. But then it gets put on the ballot in a few states that are very red and the people in these states are overwhelmingly voting to keep abortion. That tells me that a whole lot of republicans are actually pro-choice and for the life of me I can't think of any reason why they would be republicans, outside of maybe being terrified of trans people, white supremacy, or just intense hatred of liberals.

This is exactly it. He was the person that put together their thoughts for them and made arguments against the libs that they weren't smart enough to come with themselves.

The combination of widespread moments of silence at generally apolitical events like football/baseball games (without any kind of pushback) and the number of people who never talk politics on social media feeling the need to mourn Charlie publicly has completely reshaped my perception of this country.

This isn't just the MAGA folks who whine about everything, it's the mainstream.

Yeah. If I was at an event and they said "A moment of silence for somebody who just got shot" then I am going to be silent.

Doesn't mean I think the person who got shot was a great admirable guy. I am just against people being shot.

Another indictment of how social media works and how content is curated and presented to users. There are millions who legitimately have never heard Kirk say any of the bad stuff that he said.

Anyway this disaster is proving to be every bit as bad as I feared. There is just no tragedy that cannot be exploited by the corrupt people in power. The media is, of course, playing along happily.

Me, too.

Discussing the SM hue and cry with my wife, who is on IG, she wondered why anyone would think it came from actual humans, and not bot farms. Of course, my wife is thinking Kirk was deliberately martyred ever since she saw the dead eyed defiance in the widow’s video. The immediate wave of speech suppression felt orchestrated to her, as well.

Yeah, I mean I cited the moment of silence but it's not just that specific act.  It's the fact that a moment of silence was even deemed appropriate in the first place.

Stephen Miller isn't running the stadium operations of the Green Bay Packers.  Laura Loomer didn't make the call to use State Farm stadium for the memorial.  The average American feels that a good man died last week, a man worthy of national mourning, and the longer we ignore that reality the deeper the hole will grow (and I'm not sure it matters much anymore, anyway.)

Don't forget how those election results have been impacted by the Republican attacks on fair elections. Voter roll purges, eliminating voting stations in minority areas, gerrymandering, challenging valid results, intimidating voters. Calling the entire election a fraud and trying to overthrow the government when they lose. They have successfully disenfranchised enough voters in 2024 to legitimately impact results. And that is just getting g started. Trump plans to dismantle and put in place processes that give HIM more control over how results are counted and thrown out.

Just saying.

At this point, I don't think we will ever know the political leanings of the shooter/murderer. If his world is more about memes and phrases for the lulz, he could very well make comments that show him to be on the other side of his true feelings. Applying logic to a few comments here or there or looking at the scribblings on the shell casings, is not the same as reading the Unabomber manifesto in 1995.

And both side will claim a false flag op if anything comes out contradicting their desire of the shooter's beliefs.

Oh I am aware. Which is why I said the national media is playing along. It is being framed that way because it helps the agenda of those in power.

Whereas if some equivalent of Charlie Kirk, like Hasan, got gunned down all anybody would be talking about was his most controversial opinions. Which is probably appropriate for a debate bro commentator, mind you. But all the stuff Kirk actually did and said is getting suppressed.

It is very worrisome.
