I’ve had several recent conversations with friends who are falling into the same trap as Bozo. “My rational, educated buddies want to support Democrats, but can’t bring themselves to do it because of [insert anti-woke propagandist canard of the week].”

The problem isn’t Democrats. The problem is your friends are fucking stupid. Stop indulging them. Stop being polite. Lead. Help them understand that what they’re hearing and seeing is bullshit propaganda designed to have them doing exactly what they’re doing: staying on the sidelines while fascists take control.

Yep. These people are fucking with you.

Lead, be authentic, don't cross the line in the sand, and embrace them into the fold whenever that day comes.

This is fucking stunning to me. “Politicians talking policy is part of the problem.” I mean I don’t disagree considering the audience (ie the American electorate) but still. “We have concepts of a plan” was said by the victor during the campaign. Again, stunning.

She had my vote in the primary precisely because she talked policy and how to correct some of the excesses of American capitalism.

Look, I dig that shit, too, but I'm also a subscriber to The Atlantic and even read the articles in Playboy when I was still in the throes of adolescence.

My point is that the Democrats have gotten tricked into thinking they can policy their way into an electoral majority.  "If we pass the programs that people say they want, they will vote for more of it."  Either that shit doesn't work or it requires a superior communication strategy to sell it and putting that together is more challenging than getting the program passed.

The bitcoin thing is silly.  It needs to be regulated, the pump/dump or rug pulls common in crypto scams are hurting younger folks and they need protection from their own gullibility.

Forget the ethics of it, the cold reality is that it's popular amongst a certain group of voters, some of whom poured money into the Trump campaign in a quid pro quo appeal for light (or no) regulation with the most transactional and corrupt President in our life time.  A smart politician shouldn't be picking fights unless it's VERY intentional.

You can't forever stand on principle on this if that loses elections.  At least for me, I'm not interested in being the most noble person in an authoritarian state.

Here's the transcript of an Ezra Klein interview that narrates how the crypto industry went from being unaffiliated to activated in favor of Trump.

Joe Biden is president. Gary Gensler is his S.E.C. chair. Gensler is a huge crypto skeptic. He wants crypto regulated as securities, for the most part, which crypto people hate.

Then why don't we all just become republicans and call it a day and be cool with everything going on?

Crypto bros don't want regulation because they think they are smarter than the system. Whatever, good for them, they are the 0.001% (maybe). The problem is that most people aren't that, think they can play the system and get fucked. Regulation protects those people, because the crypto bros specifically don't want regulation to prey on the dumb (just like we see with all of the coin scams these days).

Too bossy, too emotional, just plain unlikable, etc., etc., etc. It’s clear to me the next nominee has to be a straight white male. I hate it but that’s the only chance. Newsom isn’t my favorite but he’s playing the game and is also capable in my opinion of effective governance. I like Buttegeig way better, but you know, gay, and probably talks too much policy for this stupid af country.

Likewise. I was outspoken to my circle about how I thought she would make an incredible president. I was dumbfounded when the women in my life would nitpick her and prefer Biden or someone else

The obscenely rich don't want the state that protects them and their wealth to regulate the means by which they accumulate said wealth?

I am shocked.
