Nah, NFL is still pretty entertaining. It’s just on too many days now. Give it to me on Sunday, one game on Monday night and the couple Saturdays at end of season. I’ll allow a kickoff game on Thursday to start season if you must.

Thanksgiving?

Trump just came on as a guest announcer for the Commanders-Lions game.  Good news, the economy is in great shape, and if it isn't it's Biden's fault.  He said some other stupid shit too, like the starting QB for our team (Commanders) needs to stop getting injured.

1. Trump and MAGA infiltrated sports. Politics and sports should not intertwine. But they made it happen.

- After Trump showed up, I spent all weekend cheering for Team Europe. Not because I dislike the American players, but because of what this country's leadership stands for now. The American fans are a fucking embarassment. I'm fucking ashamed.

- Quinn Ewers wearing Trump stuff. Fuck you, man. You should know better.

You got this thread off to an excellent start. I never opened it before because I didn't know how well the subject would be handled. Compliments.

Politics started becoming more like sports back around 1980. On election night, I worked at an airport warehouse, some of the other young men were gathered where I was working were talking about the election. One asked who I would vote for. I was conflicted. "Probably Carter."

"Carter? Man, he's going to lose!"

It was revelatory. It was all about being on the winning side pulling for the winning team. Of course, it became more pronounced over the decades. For GOPS, so many of their voters should sport some kind of jersey. They already have a team hat that they wear like true team supporters everywhere they go.

I, too, find myself ambivalent about US teams. I now hate the U!S!A!  U!S!A! chant. It sounds like a taunt rather than a cheer. "Fucking ashamed." You nailed it.

Ewers wearing that shit bugs me. The subject should not be introduced in any public way in sports. Sadly, again as you note, that ship has sailed.

It is out of fucking control.

Fuck Pat McAfee and ESPN.

Between this and Dana white upthread, is that the new magat defense?  “I don’t really know anything about politics”?  Because it’s a fucking lie. Well, if they mean policies, sure, but they sure as fuck know what cult they are in.

I have ALWAYS disliked Pat McAfee.  It bordered on real, old fashioned hate.   I'm fully there now.

I mean, you've seen what he looks like, right? That's all I needed

He's truly the worst punter in NFL history, if I have to be honest.

It's the same "I'm not political, I just post in DT and the business board" type of bullshit lie that we see often. The "anti-political" folks are ALWAYS coming from a position of "the conservative dogma is law, and asserting facts that disagree with my narrative is deeply political"
