Michael Thompson better be careful, Pence is a Hoosier.  He'll shut this shit down yesterday just because he fucking hates Purdue.  The IU-Purdue relationship is not unlike UT-A&M, one has a beautiful campus with beautiful women near a major city with fantastic schools and departments across the board.  The other is in a small city, with a rather utilitarian campus with thick women (no Vic), and has the state's best vet school (Purdue's may the best in the nation).  The one thing Purdue does exceptionally well is engineering.  Growing up in the Midwest, there wasn't a company between Pittsburgh and Denver that didn't advertise the fact that they "Have a Purdue Engineer working on xyz."  It remains a huge badge of honor.

And this Michael Thompson is an excellent example of that.

Trump allies raise money to target reporters from the NY Times etc...

https://www.axios.com/2020-presidential-campaign-trump-allies-journalists-6733432f-b008-45d3-99c2-9dca7931faff.html

Also, I love that the Mayor of London is so easily able to troll Trump.  But then Debra Messing was able to, so I probably shouldn't be surprised.

Hey, weren't the Trumpkins all up in arms about the "DANGEROUS DOXXING!" of people who contributed money to Trump....when such doxxing was simply copying and pasting information from the FEC website?  Hmmm....interedasting.

So, these guys are going to dig deep into the private lives of reporters.  Great.  So now we know that your private life is 100% in-play.  Perfect.  I think we ought to start a PAC that does nothing but pay investigators to follow key Trump allies everywhere they go.  EVERYWHERE.  Follow them, photograph them, record them.  Get every detail of their lives down.  When they do a shitty parking job, get that.  When they meet their business partner's "niece," record that.  All of it.  Game fucking ON.

Lots of lava.  I think...yeah, they said...the most lava they've ever seen.  Tons of lava.  Just tremendous amounts of lava.  One of the most lava'ist eruptions we've ever seen.  Just tons of lava.  So much lava.  Anyway, we're taking care of it.  Of the lava, and the lava to come.  And also the before lava.  Just so much lava.  Wow, fantastic lava.  Not like that, but in the sense that it's such an incredible amount of lava that we're seeing.  I mean, am I right people?  We're handling the situation as the lava continues.  So, great news.  Lava.

In terms of lava, it had the most lava of any volcano ever.

Considering how fragile the egos are, it wouldn't be hard to take their digging and lob it right back at them. The attempted intimidation of our press angle should be front and center on every news media that is legit though.

But look at DJ, lashing out at London after the tweet that tweaked him yesterday. On the one hand, I hate to see world leaders doing that to each other, but on the other hand, if you got game bring it because the funny ones make him look worse in the public eye and reveal more about him than any other method. This is a global war without guns and Russia is playing this quite skillfully so let's go out and win it.

As far as the golfing, that is all he has now. Since the 2000 tennis photo went to meme, you never see him do anything but golf. He is not in shape for golf, either, but it is easier to fool people.

Stop it.  Just stop.  Stop treating Trump supporters like rational actors.

Step 1: realize that Trump supporters have joined a cult, and tie their well-being and very existence to Trump's success.

Step 2: realize that means they will never, ever abandon him.

Step 3: see the ledge I've been telling you guys about for two damned years now.  Sure, we'll find a random Trumpist or two who abandons him, but they are outliers.  We are run by a death-cult, filled with death-cultists.  It will end exactly how you would expect.

I wouldn't really call the mayor of London a "world leader." Point still stands that it's funny. And terrifying. The POTUS's ego is so fragile, that he can't handle a tweet from the mayor of a city in another country. Also, people are afraid to go outside because of the knife problem! Zing! Hope nobody takes that easy tee-up by commenting on our regularly scheduled mass shootings.

Why don't you read the editorial and address the points it makes before spouting off like a moron, Brisket?  Then again, it may be that thinking in platitudes is just plain easier for you.

That's fair. Kahn is the mayor of one of the largest urban areas in the EU and while most Americans won't know his name, they know London. Trump has called him out before (Kahn is Muslim), so here was a little payback. And it stung DJ. So, while the origin of the phrase is from China, if Kahn, et al provide a thousand cuts with their steely banter, Trump can fall to pieces trying to keep up.

Brisket,  having recently traveled through Texas on a long photo safari, having spoken with numerous farmers, and coming from a small, mostly-agricultural Texas small town, I can assure you that farmers are not the lock-step Trump supporters you seem to think they are.  They are not coal miners or steelworkers.  And your whole "oh God we are so screwed these people can never be dissuaded because they are all part of a mass delusion"  is lazy thinking on your part.  In some agricultural states, Republican victory margins were very small in 2016 and 2018.  I'll guarantee you that we're going to see a significant shift in the farm vote in 2020.

I read it.  It made no points other than that farmers are hurting and that they will have the opportunity to vote out Trump and other Rs in 2020.  There's nothing in it to indicate that they actually are or will be doing so.   I'll believe it when I see it.   Until then, all of the actual evidence — like Trump's current 71% approval rating among farmers — supports Brisket's position.

The most recent poll of farmers shows that he has over 70% approval rating. This is from a couple weeks ago. So I'd say Brisket is pretty spot on. Some defectors on the margins, but most still support Trump. He can do no wrong.

If what you're saying is true about farmers abandoning Trump, it did not make itself apparent in these two elections.  Pick whatever state you want here. https://www.politico.com/election-results/2018/missouri/  Look at where the major cities are.  The blue gains were entirely urban.  Maybe it'll be different in 2020.

That's down from 79% the preceding month (July).

"Some defectors on the margins". I would assume/hope most farmers are smart enough at this point  to see what Trump's policies have done to their industry, and yet 71% of them still support him. Cognitive dissonance.

I would point out, too, that some of these farmers are being vocal in hopes of changing his tariff policies ONLY. They love the rest of his despicable presidency. I would guess that their threats of voting against him are mostly empty.

Yep.  I read it too.  The author states that "the Dems could show farmers x" and "the Dems can point out y" and "the media should focus on z."  Just a bunch of could and should, but nothing suggesting that any farmers are ready to turn on Trump or, gasp, vote for a Dem.  Until there is evidence of that, then this is all an exercise in futility.

Yep.   Even the marginal decrease in approval shows only that they're expressing some dissatisfaction in an anonymous poll. It doesn't mean they will actually vote for a Democrat.  Both Hillary and Trump received many votes from people who didn't give them good favorability marks.    All of the 71% of farmers who still vocally support Trump will vote for him, and a big chunk of those who don't will say "Well, I don't like the trade war, but he's better than Biden/Warren/whichever Dem, who is gonna turn America brown."

The farmers should be marching in the streets against Trump.  71% approval after everything Trump has done is insane, even if it used to be a little higher.

What the hell SHOULD I be saying?  Farmers are getting buttfucked by Trump....but they still support him by overwhelming margins.  What that tells us is that NOTHING will get the vast majority of them to change their votes.  All of these articles are the same -- farmers are getting hurt, and they SHOULD be ripe for changing their votes, and the Dems SHOULD try to get those votes.  Whoopee. Data.  Data is what matters.  And the DATA says that by and large, they're sticking with him, even in the face of Trump-inflicted pain.  If that's not your big takeaway on this subject, you're missing the point.

I would agree with this more nuanced position, but that's not what you originally asserted.

If this insanity continues to go on you'll see more and more farmers defecting.

I said there would be outliers -- there are and there will be.  But someone above asked the right question above -- what, you think they're gonna vote for the gay-loving socialist communist America hater [fill in the name of whoever the Dems nominate, it won't matter, because that's what they'll be defined as by Fox News]?  They will come home to Trump.  That's the way of a cult.  They may express dissatisfaction, they may gripe and grumble.....but in the end, they'll vote for him again.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

The farmers will by and large, imo, still vote for Trump. They may complain about him, but they don't have the balls to actually vote for a Dem.

5his is likely true, as far as not voting dem.  The goal should be not to flip them, but just get them to not give enough fucks to vote at all.

You didn't specify, but I'm assuming you mean those margins were "very small" (as opposed to just "small") because FARMERS were voting Dem? (as opposed to most of the state voting Dem with the farmers voting heavily for Trump)?

Is there data on that? I'd like to see it.

That's 66 people slaughtered.  Doesn't count the wounded, that number is in the hundreds.  That's not total gun and/or knife murders, mind you, that's mass shootings in the last 2 years.
