Donald Trump 2018

I think Trump wants to be king so bad he's willing to destroy America to get that.  His long game is if he destroys America, then so what?  In his mind, we as a country were too stupid to realize greatness when we saw it.  He firmly believes that everything would be better if he were dictator.  He cuddles up to the Putin and the norks because he thinks they revere and respect him.  But they don't, they are playing him and he's too stupid (did not use ignorant) to realize it.

Still if America falls in the world order, then it was destined to do so, due again to not seeing the greatness of Trump leadership.  He's a global guy, he will just leave the US in ashes and move on to some place that is used to being under the thumb of dictators.   Ironic thing is he won't be welcome nor revered in any of those place, because they figured him for the stooge he is right off the bat.   They won't continue to pander to his fat ass once his usefulness has passed.

And then you have his hangers on, his enablers in DC either elected or on his staff.  They are playing him too, family included, to increase their own fortunes.

And who can't see this?  Who keeps defending this pile of trash?

Why didn't Mitch McConnell do anything about it?  He was briefed at the highest levels about evidence of the ongoing Russian incursion into our electoral infrastructure and active ties between Russia and the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016.  He refused a strong bi-partisan response and rebuffed the accuracy of the IC assessments.  He new.  He's complicit.

Nary a peep from our resident trumpkins. The silence is deafening.

It turns out that the Republican fantasies about all of the evil shit Obama was supposedly doing wasn't out of concern, but rather jealousy.

Seems like the most likely case is that several Republican congressmen have taken money or done much worse with Russia. Did you see how quickly a few senators quickly rushed to file motions to impeach Rosenstein? Many of them do not want to see the results of this investigation go public for personal reasons other than they don't want to see the Republican party hurt.

If the DOJ under Obama comes out and says there are 12 Russian GRU officers trying to influence the election for Trump, Trump, loses his shit and claims Obama is helping Hillary by casting doubt on his campaign.

If the DOJ under Trump comes out and says there are 12 Russian GRU officers trying to influence the election for Trump, Trump, loses his shit and claims the DOJ is full of Democrats trying to steal his election.

If Obama had interfered and the result was a narrow Clinton victory, we might have had a legit civil war.

Identify the younger ones on social media and they’ll disappear fast.   Make strips of tacks and throw in front of any rascal scooter you see, and the older ones will surrender.

It’s like the understanding of what soft power is completely lost on these trumpkin morons. Do y’all understand why we have been so powerful? Yes, we have a military that can wipe all life from this planet. But our culture is what has made us great. The fact that everyone has wanted to at least visit America.

We are losing grasp of our soft power stranglehold because of this fucking moron traitor

Yep.  Soft power, the power to persuade people to get them to do what you want them to do, is the only real power.

But what if you think your objective is paramount and soft power doesn’t work?

Nearly every administration since WWII has tried to persuade our NATO partners to contribute more to their defense. We’ve done this privately and we’ve even publicly chastised them, with no apparent results:

In 1959, Eisenhower made the comment our European allies “were making a sucker of Uncle Sam”.

Clinton’s Sec. of Defense, William Cohen, said that if our allies did not start spending more on capability the alliance “could become a relic of history”.

And Robert Gates said “It is hardly two months into the new year, but we already face shortfalls of hundreds of millions of euros – a natural consequence of having underinvested in collective defense for over a decade”.

There are many more examples but you get the idea.

What is different this time is that Trump—not so tactfully—implied that our commitment may not be as strong as it once was. He needs to follow up that veiled threat with something like a small but symbolic troop/asset withdrawal. Over a 50 year period soft power has been ineffective at persuading our NATO friends; let’s see if they respond to something more aggressive. If not, then Cohen may have been right when he said the alliance could become a relic of history.

Eisenhower also worked his ass off to destroy the isolationist wing of the Republican party ----- Senator Robert A. Taft and his ilk ------ because Ike realized that the only way to get peace in Europe was to remake Europe in America's image, and that that effort was going to take a tremendous amount of cold, hard American cash.

The world is far more connected now than it was then, but Trump seems hell-bent on destroying the relationships that have kept us from World War III since 1945.  As far as our soft power not having worked, it's been working for 73 years.

I asked a Trump supporter that I know if its found and proven by Mueller that he (dotard) did work with and encourage the Russians to undermine, disrupt and influence the 2016 election would he still support Trump? His reply, "sure...anything is better that having Hillary in office". So, yes they are in fact, fucking traitors.

Yeah, sure, ok, but the reality is that there is already a plan in place to increase spending to 2% by 2024. Europe is NEVER going to go to 4%.

Also,, since the only time Article 5 has been invoked it was for us, it’s a really bad look to shit on NATO.

the comments about NATO being a very US creation for our own benefit are precisely true. The stability in Europe is one of the greatest gifts in around 1000 years, a few billion dollars (I know) are a bargain.

Ive had this conversation a number of times, in part because most of my friends and professional colleagues are Republicans. That’s pretty much how it’s gone 80% of the time.

And the really sad part is when I ask if they think he’s good for the country, about half of those say that they don’t like a lot of what he does, but they love how he makes liberal types feel.

More encouraging: the other 20% don’t seem to consider themselves Republicans anymore.

Ehh, I don’t care whether she’s the queen or not, she’s a 90 year old woman.  Show her a little respect.

Then again, it’s Trump. He ignored his own wife when getting out at the White House during the inauguration, and Obama and Michelle  ended up walking with her.  He has no respect for women.

If there is anything that everyone can agree upon, it’s how hilarious Trumps meeting with the queen has been. “Journalism” is freaking out at his faux pas’ with the her, for every little minor nuance he’s not doing, like walking in front of her or making her wait a few minutes or eating before her, etc. If nothing else we can all admit it’s hilarious he is ignoring (probably on accident and he’s really doing his best to show royal respect and follow rules he’s just clumsy and obtuse) that royalty and aristocracy feel like they should be adhered to as if their rule and authority extends beyond their bubble.

I for one appreciate the humor.

Trump is essentially saying, we are equals and/or you might be a notch below me and us actually.

Yeah, he talks and acts just like you!

Wonderful...
