Is the judge allowed to tell his lawyers, "Tough fucking luck, buckos.  You brought this trial into my court and so you're going to stay and take part in this shitshow until the end, whether you get paid or not" or something like that, only with more Latin phrases?

Yes, and if it was closer to trial, one of them might.  Note that his lawyers are withdrawing from a Smartmatic suit, a Dominion suit, a Coomer suit, and one other.

And....note that the defendant in the captioned case is "My Pillow, Inc."  A corporation generally CANNOT appear pro se (so, Mike Lindell can't just say "I'll represent myself," because MPI isn't "myself" -- it's a separate entity).  So....the corporation doesn't have counsel.  And it NEEDS counsel, or else it will end up defaulting.

Which ultimately, may not make a shit, as it seems MPI is outta money and headed for bankruptcy sooner rather than later.  So, get the judgment....you'll never collect on it from MPI.

I had a lot more faith in bankruptcy trustees and courts before the whole Alex Jones case.  How is that motherfucker not destitute already?

Counterpoint: I'm sick of the empowered and weaponized mentally ill being allowed - fuck, being EMPOWERED AND ENABLED BY THE MAGA MOVEMENT - to fuck over our country.

If he was on the corner yelling at clouds, I'd feel bad for him.  He's made millions, and has spent it trying to destroy our democracy.  Suffering is too good for him.  Hell is too good for him.

This:  Sometimes a sorry assed person gets exactly what they deserve.  I see too many good people having problems to worry about the worthless ones.

Plus that was over 11 years ago. That's not fucking justice. The system is broken because it takes so fucking long.
Just because they are bereaved...

I thought covid and zoom becoming more mainstream would help.

While I imagine that many of his employees were of the same leanings or ilk as Mike, I feel bad for them.  They are all going to wind up losing their jobs (if they haven't already) because of his ridiculous shit.  That's too bad, because you know many of them put a lot of time into building what was a success, only to see it tossed down the shitter because their boss reverted into being a wacko.

As for LIndell, it's now turned into some bizarre allegorical tale.  On the one hand, his recovery from addiction is admirable.  His founding and building of what was a successful enterprise was a good thing, and a good story (even in spite of the religious huckster shit).  His success led to jobs and prosperity in his community; again good things.  Then, he took a blow torch to all of it falling down a rabbit hole into insanity.

I don't feel bad for him personally, and whatever may be coming his way, he made these choices.  But I do think it's really pretty sad, and again I feel for all the collateral wreckage he's left or will leave in his wake.

Recovering junkies need positive outlets and efforts that turn outward. Acts of humble service to others.

45 isn't a great fit for that.

Imagine this idiot, Crazy Sydney, Drunk Rudy, Eastman, and Stephen fucking Miller being the brains behind a fascist overthrow of the US government. Imagine these people imagining themselves as the elite leaders in the Trump Cabal after Jan. 6.

What were these people seeing as they dreamed of their futures? They're bound to have confided in friends. What kind of feedback did they get? Surely some of the people they knew said, "Pillow Guy, this is nuts. If you fail it's ruin and jail for you!"

I'd love to hear one day what their actual vision was as Trump put his toadies in the Pentagon while planning to himself lead the mob into the Capitol. "Oh man! This is going to be great!"

I can't feature the scene.

And think about how close they came to succeeding.  They had the people in congress ready and willing to reject the EV counts and send it to state congressional delegations, and they had the VP replacement lined up, and they had the SS ready to make sure the VP was gone. The VP refusing to reject the count, and then refusing to leave the Capitol may have been the only step in the plan that was a fail point.

The SS checkmated Trump by not taking him to the Capitol. I think that was a huge factor in sliding the odds back to the people.

Trump showing up to enter the Capitol and ordering the Capitol Police to make way would have likely gained admittance for him and his mob to make their way to where the votes were to be counted. Until you get to Pelosi, who would feel like they had the authority to stop him?

That's a horrendous scene that I'm glad we didn't have to witness.

I hope the court tells the lawyers to go pound sand. They chose to defend a piece of shit, knowing full well that he’s a piece of shit.

Fuck them for trying to get out of it now because the piece of shit doesn’t pay his bills.

Maybe should’ve considered that the piece of shit wouldn’t pay his bills before taking the case. FAFO.

Texas courts grant these motions routinely.  Federal courts, which I think all of these are in, somewhat less so.

If Lindell can't come up with substitute counsel, which is going to be hard given what's public about these (many times the wording of the motions is such that you can't quite tell that it's non-payment and certainly how much non-payment), the judge may not let them out.

If I was trying to withdraw from a federal civil case, I'd feel a lot better about it if there was substitute counsel.  Otherwise, I'd expect some indentured servitude.

Also, they probably have a really good argument that their nutter client refuses to follow the advice of counsel. Hard to see what is in the motion, but I bet it’s chock-full of things other than “I’m not being paid.”

They should have been informed before they took him on as a client.

Some call you…..Tim?

I hear you, but the you shouldn’t of taken him as a client defense is not really one that trial courts rely on in deciding motions to withdraw

"What could go wrong?"

Nothing, Mike.  Nothing at all.  Go Mike go!

As noted above, he can represent himself individually, but the corporate My Pillow defendant has to be represented by counsel.

All that aside....I pray to sweet baby jebus that he DOES represent himself.  Because the laugh value of his "Designation of my cyber guys as expert witnesses" alone will be off the charts.

Timing is everything. Maybe he should asked this back in the winter of 2020. January 2021 would have been another good time to ask that.

Or maybe he asked Donald Trump and Sidney Powell and Rudy.

Is this guy reflective enough to wonder what the fuck he was thinking?
