And risk greater injury and your season? That would be the dumbest reason to keep a qb in.

whatever the real reason was it was really fucking dumb to keep a clearly hobbling qb in the game against Kentucky.

It's not dumb if Sark knows, or is pretty sure that it's Quinn's last game as starter.

Lmao what no it still is.

Even if you have the tin foil hat on and think it's Arch from here on, Arch could use the reps and you're never more than one play from having to go back to Ewers, so you don't exactly want him out there at higher risk of further injury.

No kidding. I also laugh that it’s the Mannings plural, as if Archie, Peyton and Eli are involved in the operations of some kind of super product that Cooper by himself isn’t equipped to deal with alone. People are fucking stupid.

Maybe mom has a relevant view, as a Manning?

This post falls apart because we have seen Arch be QB1 for 2-1/2 games. His improvement was night and day between Monroe and Mississppi State. Arch lead Texas to 35 points against the only SEC defense he played, Ewers has done that once against the other 6 SEC defenses he has played.

The only reason the switch hasn't been made is likely the Manning family wants nothing to do with the controversy of replacing an entrenched starter on this team. I think the Manning and Arch himself would prefer to be QB1 throughout an entire off-season headning into the season.

I also think, if this was another Hudson Card/Casey Thompson situation the switch would have already been made.

Sark will use Arch if needed, and Sark will make that decision.

Takeaways from last 12 hrs of comments:

1. Ewers is better at handoffs and screen passes than Manning. Uh huh.

2. Arch's family will be upset if he comes in and takes UT to a win over Aggy in long-awaited reunion. When he goes on to win the SEC and his First National Championship, they'll be so pissed that they'll pull him out of Austin and send him to Ohio State. (He'll need to resign his elections as Mayor of Austin/Governor of Texas).

3. Quinn's receivers simply haven't learned to come back for underthrown passes and knock aside defenders hanging all over them.

4. Quinn's ankle will be fine - until he tries to cut on it, or God forbid, scramble with the ball. Then he's done. Which means that Sark will limit his gameplan to accomodate Quinn, which means the sidearmer will be stuck in the pocket against a defense that will blitz on every play. Which means there'll be no RPOs and perhaps three or four fewer first downs and two or three more punts in the first half alone. Which means that the game will be that much closer or we'll be that much worse off by the time Sark finally puts in Manning, either because of Quinn's injury or performance. Which means Arch will be under even more pressure and very possibly in catch-up mode when he comes in.

The aggies will come into this game planning to stuff the run game and daring the sidearmer Quinn, who will be under enormous pressure, to throw the ball. I'm not looking forward to watching this play out.

It absolutely doesn't have to happen this way. Start Manning. Run the ball, including RPOs, use the RPOs to throw deep, intermediate and short passes, use Manning's ability to run play-action, drop deep and throw accurate bombs, and resume kicking ass, just like we did when Arch quarterbacked earlier in the year.

Quinn will be a millionaire, if he isn't already. I appreciate what he's done so far, but he's injured, and his starting the Aggy game will only hinder this amazing team.

Stop making sense.

My position is simply that in 2010, in the national championship ship game, Mack Brown pulled Garrett Gilbert basically out of the freezer.

Arch Manning hasn’t had a real possession since September where he was asked to do anything except hand the ball off. And it would be nice to keep the motor warmed up in case you need to drive that car.

He played a quarter and a half against Florida and threw 6 passes. That isn't nothing, especially given the context of prior game experience.  It isn't the same situation at all.

Well, he is being schemed with 3-deep and despite our limited RB play due to injuries/fumbles, he has led us to where we are today.

Our defense has led us to where we are today I would argue.

A hobbled Quinn can’t beat a defense that Payton Thorne threw…checks notes…300 yards and 2 TD’s on. First, Payton Thorne sucks. Second, Auburn sucks. Third, this thread sucks even worse. It’s going to be fine. Our defense is going to fuck Marcel Reed up so bad he’s going to contemplate quitting football.

Let’s just say it’s a mild sprain and wasn’t anything “major”. A mild sprain has a greater chance of turning into something major staying on the field. What if a Kentucky DL rolled up into him?

What if a Kentucky defender rolled up on Jake Majors or Kelvin Banks or Isaiah Bond who is also playing with a bad ankle?

It’s football. The risk of injury is there every play whether you are 100% healthy or not and is not a reason to not play someone if they are given the thumbs up from the training staff.

Odds are about half the roster is dealing with a minor sprain somewhere at this point in the season. It’s week 13.

I agree with the reasonable ones that believe Arch needs to be  ready to go at a moment’s notice in future games. Have to hope he’s getting decent number of snaps in practice.

as far as QE his draft stock will be what it will be and I’d rather him go to a good solid team with a good owner/head coach that wants to continue to develop him. I do care where he goes. Where he goes is more important then WHEN he goes in the draft. And if he is as bad ass as many of yall believe he will earn his money and more and be a franchise starting QB.

I watch all the games just like y’all and all the tape there is. I hope his switch flicks on again. When he is in the zone. Or at the very least we don’t go significant portions of the game without scoring. This won’t work with the level of competition we will face from here on out.

the blitz is in our immediate future and he’s got to step up in pocket more. and we gotta clean up fumbles and if the ball is remotely catchable then  catch the damn ball.

but I’m mainly concerned about further injury and everyone should also be. Pray he can heal quick. And that arch is ready to roll and that they have prepared for this in case he needs to come into a game or even start one.

Sark thinks Arch is electric. Keeping Arch plugged in and ready to go with minimal game film out there is the best way to use him at this point in the season as long as we keep winning.

I’ve been critical of Quinn but I can’t fault Sark for riding with his guy until the wheels fall off. But my head will absolutely explode if we have another Georgia Redux game and Arch stays on the bench again.

Well, I wanted Manning reps too, but I can see Sark's "Last Home Game" logic if he would just bring in Manning to sit on the ball. Sark probably figured there was no way Ewers could screw things up too badly, such as a pick-six or a fifteen yard lateral.

We are 10-1 in the SEC but Quinn Ewers is incredibly easy to scheme against? Number 15 scoring offense? Number 17 passing offense despite the fact that we aren't even a spread team. Number 18 total offense? Everyone is choosing o take him away instead of loading up on the run but easy to scheme against. Lol

But SEC is a MeatGrinder...wait no, our schedule is easy...wait, no it is SEC MeatGrinder...oh fuck it all.

my main 2 quibbles with Ewers are 1)he is a bit late on his throws/reads which manifests issues on deep balls more and 2) ball security in the pocket

he rarely throws picks straight to the other team.  batted balls are a function of footwork, height and arm angle, i've resigned myself to the fact that he aint fixing his footwork at this point and the other 2 are just who he is.

first off, stop engaging me only to whine about how you don’t want to engage with me. you do that a lot. i didn’t say anything offensive or incendiary, i just said that i haven’t seen anyone mentioning peyton or eli being involved in this situation, and instead of you just giving an example of it happening you're now typically and predictably throwing a fit about “arguing” with me. it’s jimmyjazz 101. so either become mature enough to have a discussion with me, or stop engaging me altogether.

It appears as if Quinn doesn't handle things like adversity and change very well. Get him off schedule and he becomes a different QB.

But hey, when he's 100% and has clean pockets with plenty of time to throw and open receivers downfield, he's really good.

I said this same thing about Tom Brady.

I’m still pissed that he was left in but the more I think about it, I think Sark left him in to simply give aggy more to think about and to gameplan on. I expect Arch packages regardless of Quinn’s health.

Nothing in Sark’s time at Texas should lead you to expect that.
