I'm a big fan of the "enshittification" trend of making it hard to....fucking give a merchant your money.

Go to CVS to buy a battery for my car key fob.  Go to the self scanner.  Scan single battery.  Try to swipe card.  Nope.  First, have to push the button on screen "finish and pay."  Then "pay with card."  Then "do you want to join rewards, yes or no."  Then "do you want to donate to save the gay whales for Jesus, yes or no" then a final button of "ok."

Dude.  The entire process should be....scan battery.  Swipe card.  Transaction confirmed, leave CVS.

Don't forget your 6' receipt with coupons so you'll get more practice with the CVS process next time.

2026 COLA Prediction Rises to 2.5% as BLS Faces Challenges With Collecting CPI Data

TSCL predicts Social Security’s 2026 COLA will be 2.5 percent, up from last month’s prediction of 2.4 percent. The TSCL model’s prediction has increased for four consecutive months.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Labor Statistics faces unprecedented challenges collecting data for the price index used to calculate the COLA. According to the Wall Street Journal, a hiring freeze at the agency has forced the Consumer Price Index program to cut back on the number of businesses where it measures prices. In April, the agency said it had used a less accurate method for estimating prices more than usual, due to a shortage of workers, and it has stopped collecting consumer inflation data in three cities.

So essentially we’ve DOGE’d the BLS to the extent they don’t have enough people to give accurate data and so their estimate of inflation that will wind up as the COLA interest increase for Social Security may be under reported.

They now predict a 2.5 COLA.  up .1 every month for three months.  The interesting thing is this comes out with many months to go yet in the year.  if July August and September are not that bad but October November December skyrockets - the olds are just fucked for 2026.

I'm a bit confused on the reports and numbers.

Is the total settlement still $7.4B?

I was under the impression that the responsibility for payment was split between the family and the company?

If so, then the family would only be paying out $3.7B, if divided equally?

tl;dr: fuck the fucking fuckers.

Yeah, sorry, I read the right number earlier, then got caught on the wrong one.  The family is only chipping in $6.5 billion.  So, they get to keep nearly a billion more than I first said.  But hey, what's another $900 million here and there....the real prize is the thousands of people we killed along the way.

Initially spotted in January, the apps were loading a script that sent data back to other apps on the same device, basically bypassing Android's built-in security and privacy features

This should be the last argument needed to tar and feather Zuckerberg

I'm waiting for the Waffle House AI system.  It will be an advanced algorithm that balances whether a customer is likely to start a fight, or is likely to back up staff when a fight happens, will do so while not spilling any of their hash browns which are smothered and covered, or will try to raid the cash register while staff is distracted in a fight.  It will scour the internet for data to build a file on each customer, but it will start with 1) arrest records on meth charges, and 2) appearances on Worldstarhiphop.com (and/or any videos on other platforms where a participant simply yells "WORLDSTAR!" as chaos unfolds).
