A whole lot of noise. Excepting a resignation, is there a path forward that does not have Biden as nominee? We’re fucked.

The delegates could change their vote. Delegates are “supposed” to honor the voters in their states. Here’s the language in the Democratic party rules for the 2024 convention: “All delegates to the National Convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.”

if for instance it is learned that Biden has Parkinson’s or other type of neurological condition and withheld that from voters when he decided to run and was getting delegates, I would think that would release the delegates’ from voting for Biden. If they went to their voters and said if you knew X then would you have voted for him?
it does appear to be trending in the direction many want in an open primary. But he could step aside. He may not. But the 3,949 pledged delegates and the some $220,000,000 are his/KH’s. That’s my understanding.

So what I am reading is that all of our Biden is too old issues could be solved if one of us can convince him to have a drink on Rainey street.

If he has Parkinson’s then they would be justified in doing that.

First Schumer and now Jeffries. So much for congressional leadership applying pressure on Biden to step down. Unless he swallows his tongue at his “big boy” press conference on Thursday, I think we have our Democratic Party nominee.

You mean like what is going to happen every day on every channel until Election Day?

“and the democratic ticket” A bit of a non sequitur there. Is he leaving himself an out or am I reaching?

Trump will take credit for it.

And he'll get away with it.

Would be nice if Joe would get on live national television and take credit for it

Yeah, we're getting a red wave in November.

In a year where the other party is running a narcissistic criminal. Very cool

I understand this is the DOOM thread, but if people will put away their pussies and get out and vote, we can win.  Biden, Harris, Whitmer, whomever.  If we don't, we have no one to blame but ourselves.  This isn't hard.

Tell your friends, tell your family, post it on the internet.  We aren't voting for the man (or woman).  We are voting against fascism.  Period.

Point taken, but I honestly think a lot of people have reached the 6th Stage of Grief.... what I like to call the "fuck it" stage.

Truth. Vote. Vote early. Election Day should be a federal holiday. I don’t know though if I’ve ever seen a campaign despite people saying they’d vote for a dead skunk over Trump, that’s ever worked where the party is saying, “it doesn’t matter who is at the top of the ticket it’s a vote against X.” It would be like committing to a church where you like the building and the congregation and everything about it but not know who the preacher is going to be or be like. Sure you want to fight Satan and your only choices are stay at home, go hang with the devil or go to this one church. I don’t know that it will draw in enough independents to beat Trump. He’s not bringing in many new voters and likely won’t after the convention but Biden is dropping voters. And the fear is people will sit on their hands. Maybe they won’t maybe the Repub convention will scare them. It’s not easy to predict bc this shit has never happened before,

Everyone is just tired of everything being a fucking existential threat since covid. It's a beating. We are staring down the barrel of a liquidity crisis, a commercial real estate crisis, a public debt crisis, a corporate debt crisis, stubborn inflation, creeping unemployment, an obesity epidemic, a constitutional crisis everything is a fucking confusing and fucked up mess.

What we need is for Biden to become a little less presidential and let him be the unpolished joe he is behind closed doors. His call where he calls out the Democrat elite in what seems like a small setting where he can speak without being careful was fucking lit.

I mean, all that shit has been brewing for a decade plus at this point. It's the chickens coming home to fuckin roost after the economic coke bender that we've been on of near zero interest and incredible growth in wealth inequality

And it still doesn't come close to the mess that was the '60s.

Cheer up man…it’s going to get MUCH worse than those things. Here’s just one to think about: do you think that Eastern Europe is less likely, or more likely, to go nuclear in response to emboldened Russian aggression? The coming American appeasement/alliance with Russia is all but guaranteed to destroy our economic alliance with Europe, lead to more and worse warfare (like appeasement of sick fucks literally ALWAYS does)….so, smile!

Highly functional nomination system we have within the constraints of this two party system. Real shame that we can't think of a better way to do this democracy thing.

And quite literally India (our ally and democracy in Asia) today. Like, this isn't just "bad optics you took a pic from 8 years ago when it was mildly excusable to a Putin friend." This was 7/8/2024. Their best friendmanship is disgusting. Russia ain't stopping. You are right.

So the Democratic Party could very well split into two giant factions (Biden and Somebody Else).  The Republican Party could split into two giant factions (MAGA and traditional GOP).

And the last time we had four, robust (not 2% L or Green) political parties was around the time of the Civil War?

Yeah, this should be fun.

I remember thinking around 2018 when it was apparent the Country Club/Chamber of Commerce Republicans weren't gonna reign in MAGA-nation, and thought---maybe this is how a split occurs.  We haven't had one in over a century.  But now we're gonna do fucking all four in one summer?  And by the way both Democrats and Republicans, who the fuck schedules a national implosion with just a few months to go until election day?  I have August passes to Sea World you assholes!

So much stupid in that platform...we can hash it out between now and the convention.

#13?  Totally agree with that.  Our status as reserve currency is wildly under-appreciated and as such, completely misunderstood by most Americans.  But you back out of NATO?  That's just the excuse they need to change paper.  Historically, the strongest Navy gets to be the bearer or the global reserve currency.  We still have the strongest Navy but if nobody feels it can be called upon to protect our allies...they'll stop giving a shit.

#7?  I like how every "As a student of the Constitution" rant pretty much ends with 2A.  Every once in awhile, you'll get a 5A or 6A from a guy in Oakleys half in the bag.  I don't think most of these dipshits, even on Capitol Hill, there's more to it.  It reminds me of an old officemate I had at an investment bank.  We shared space for about two years, helluva nice guy.  So we'd go in on Saturdays.  And the previous night, it turned out we both made the mistake of watching that movie "Pearl Harbor."  I lamented watching the whole fucking movie for three hours.  And he was saying he really liked it and thought it was actually too short.  Well, turns out his Blockbuster version didn't have the second DVD in it.  There's a second half to the Bill of Rights just like there's an annoying fucking second half of 'Pearl Harbor.'  You don't have to like it, but you're gonna have to sit through it and learn it.  And spoiler alert, at the end of the film credits--------there's 17 more fucking amendments.  You don't have to know them all by rote, or even like some of them, but there's not just the fucking first 2.  You are not Josh Hartnett, but you are just as stupid.

I really do think it might actually help the country if the two parties were to fracture. Maybe we get better candidates. There has to be a shade of something other than just red and blue. It hasn’t worked for people like me in a long time.

I have no idea what it would look like but I’d rather that than watch Biden at the Dem convention pull a Jerry McGuire and yell “Who’s coming with me?” and basically it’s the black caucus riding a dead donkey off a cliff.

Or on the other side see a Repub platform that Trump will claim as brilliant! He wrote it! It’s amazing! Everyone in the history of historians will agree it is amazing! And a  hale bopp comet sucks most everyone up. Except the ones in the party who made a deal with the real aliens which is why spaceforce exists and Biden expanded it.

maybe we need a third party. Maybe we are better served and can hold more ppl accountable if we aren’t going to do smart things like have fucking term limits.

Lmao at this dumbass thinking he just discovered that the VPOTUS isn't eligible to be the POTUS. And I have no idea how anyone could think your citizenship status is contingent on whether your parents were...didn't think that one through very much.

It saddens me that anyone can be this big of a fool.
