Holy fuck, who at Netflix greenlighted The Crew and how did it not end up on Fox?

Fat guy who works for NASCAR.  It's a Fox-demo show.

"Okay, I like what you did with The Ranch, but is it possible that you can make something even dumber? Like preposterously, mind-numbingly stupid to really target that demographic?"

"Well, you should ask, I was having a conversation with Kevin James the other day..."

"Say no more. You're greenlit. Here's a mountain of cash."

I thought NASCAR fans were still protesting the sport after they decided that maybe Confederate flags and the N word are things that they should steer clear of moving forward?

I watched it all - it was my "half pay attention while eating breakfast" show

  • Fat guy who can't stop reliving his former glory as a driver - check
  • Mousy "fugly" chick everyone makes fun of that fat guy is secretly in love with - check
  • Token minority actors for comedy value - check x2
  • Bitchy hardass chick that doesn't understand the world of racing - check
  • Hot and fucking dumb as a rock driver who, of course, falls for the bitchy hardass chick when she shows real feelings - check
  • Stereotyping NASCAR fans as stupid and uncultured - check
  • Every team owner struts around like they are trying out for a part in the Dukes of Hazzard - check

Hit all the boxes.

The MBA drinking game and submitting resumes to keep your job hit a little close to home and made me chuckle.

Drinking game was the highlight of the show for me.

All I know is Kevin James should be sending fat checks to:

  • Ray Romano - guest appearances on Everybody Loves Raymond led to King of Queens
  • Leah Remini and Jerry Stiller's family, since he clearly can't recreate the King of Queens magic without them (Kevin Can Wait and The Crew were godawful)
  • Adam Sandler, for keeping him paid for a bunch of movies via Happy Madison (50 First Dates, Chuck and Larry, Paul Blart/Paul Blart 2, Grown Ups/Grown Ups 2, Here Comes the Boom, Pixels, Sandy Wexler, Hubie Halloween, Zookeeper)

I am enjoying Criminal: United Kingdom.  It's just interrogations of suspects/persons of interest.  Detectives also talk strategy outside the room.  My wife likes it a lot as she likes detective shows, but hates those with a lot of violence.

I love that show. Netflix also has “Criminal : Germany”, “Criminal : Spain” and “Criminal : France” that are also very good. Exact same setup and premise but in the different countries with different detectives. They even use the same set, if I remember correctly.

I Care A Lot was just okay.  The second half missed the mark.  I was hoping for more "Law Abiding Citizen" revenge carnage and it went a different direction.

I watched it. Solid 6 I’d say.

That about sums it up for me.  It did not meet my expectations.

Lol at I Care a Lot. Walking Dead level writing. My gut told me to turn it off at the car/lake scene. I should have listened. What a terrible movie. Worst antihero ever put on a screen. Someone should have told the writers that antiheroes need redeeming qualities and depth.

Also worst mafia ever.

I love Dinklage but at no point was he convincing as a scary mobster.

Yeah I think they tried to make it more dark comedy instead making a straight thriller, but they made the main character so unlikeable I was craving more carnage.

Ha. I watched the first part and stopped after the lake scene. I’m sure I’ll finish it but you can see the direction it’s going and it’s not good.

Watched I Care a Lot...

Holy crap that was terrible. Told my wife I’ve never rooted for the Russian Mafia before and also been so poorly disappointed in their ability to kill someone.

Basically up to the lake seen it was tolerable but after that even my wife was saying this cunt better die.

Girlboss!!! Meets a shitty version of layer cake

Put me in the camp of WTF for 'I Care A Lot'.  As others stated, it was a decent ride until the lake scene.  You've spent the entire movie portraying this woman and her girlfriend as ruthless people praying on elderly people. Now, you want the audience to sympathize\empathize with the same women after they escaped what they truly deserved? Nope.

Was I the only one who had to IMDB Alicia Witt?  I was like, the voice is quite familiar but I can't quite place that face....

They went from scam artists to stealth ninjas taking out the Russian Mob. Totally absurd.

I like foreign detective series. I'm finishing up a Finnish series called Deadwind. Pretty good. Shetland which takes place in Scotland is really good with beautiful scenery (actually that may be Amazon). Broadchurch and Hinterland are likewise excellent.

My unofficial/anecdotal evidence among other husbands I know is that Bridgerton is definitely firing some wimmen up.

Because of this response and others like it I decided to get talk my gf into watching Bridgerton. She doesn't really need any help getting herself going but I thought "meh ... there will be lots of naked titties and surely it can't hurt."    We're 2 episodes in. She loves it and I want to stab my eyeballs out.  Fuck you very much.

My wife wanted to watch a more chick-friendly show so I put on the series Georgia and Jenny, having no idea what to expect. It's not bad. The easy comp is Gilmore Girls but it's much  slightly darker and adult-oriented but with all the same manufactured stupid drama. So I'd say it's what you get if you took Rory from the Gilmore Girls, gave her a much faster set of friends (think Mean Girls or Heathers) (eh, maybe more like Glee or the OC or something) and made her mom more a little crazy and rednecky like Ruth Langmore from Ozark, but older and with sexier outfits.

It’s not bad even though I normally don’t enjoy re-enactments. If you are interested in samurai, then read Sho-Gun by James Clavell. It is one of my all time favorite novels.

Had to edit this after watching another ep. It started off seeming like it was going to be much edgier. Sigh. The wife likes it though and if you're a young dude or old serious pervert who finds 16 yo girls sexy, you may not hate it.

I'm digging it.  Has a good balance of historical fact, military tactics and blood.
