"Rooting for suffering"?  Tell you what, quote one post where I have openly rooted for suffering of anyone in such words. I can quote yours quite easily.

You've wanted the exact outcome we're experiencing for more than a few years.

The rest of us, on the other hand, warned and worked AGAINST this outcome.  This is NOT what we wanted, at all.  But....now that we the people have enthusiastically chosen it, so be it.  The only way out of this path is counting on the psychology of pain aversion - bolstered by actual experience of said pain - to do its work.  We picked a path where the only options are 1) continuous, long-term low to moderate level suffering, and continuing social decline, or 2) short term brutal suffering, so harsh that it prompts us to change course.  Given that circumstance....hell yes we root for the one that will lead to us changing course.

I mean, human society took a "burn it all down" approach in the 30s and 40s.  We learned a lot, and many things were improved afterwards.  Was it worth the price, and wouldn't it have been better to have avoided learning those lessons the hard way?

Yes.  But the problem is that we knew all along that "their own actions" include drunkenly driving their car down a crowded sidewalk.  Sure, they end up crashed against a pole, bleeding and with a totaled car.  But Jesus, the broken people they leave in their wake.

We learned a lot about fascism, and why it is bad, in the 30s and 40s.  And all it cost us was millions and millions of lives.  Oh, and then....it turns out that the lesson didn't even fucking stick.  What a fucking waste.  That's the problem....what a fucking waste.  20 million dead in Europe, 6 million of them jews.  And....for what?  To learn a "lesson" that lasted maybe three generations, to then be forgotten?  What.  A fucking.  Waste.

Mr. G is a very intellectual young man who was an infant prodigy. He has been concerned with general ideas since the age of ten and has one of those minds that can scintillatingly rationalize everything. I have known him for ten years and in that time have heard him enthusiastically explain Marx, social credit, technocracy, Keynesian economics, Chestertonian distributism, and everything else one can imagine. Mr. G will never be a Nazi, because he will never be anything. His brain operates quite apart from the rest of his apparatus. He will certainly be able, however, fully to explain and apologize for Nazism if it ever comes along. But Mr. G is always a “deviationist.” When he played with communism he was a Trotskyist; when he talked of Keynes it was to suggest improvement; Chesterton’s economic ideas were all right but he was too bound to Catholic philosophy. So we may be sure that Mr. G would be a Nazi with purse-lipped qualifications. He would certainly be purged.

"Burning down" the dysfunctional two party system, a totally dysfunctional, wasteful, and bloated federal government apparatus, and all of the related expressions of that apparatus that project death and suffering throughout the world and at home, is not anywhere close to that breath and you know it. Oh....fucking bullshit.  Nobody has ever said our society or ANY of our systems -- private, public, local, state, federal, etc. -- are perfect.  Far from it -- we have long offered plenty of criticism of their various failings. But you are a the classic throw the baby out with the bathwater burn it down type.  You ignore the fact that all the things you hate....also perform a metric shitton of workaday functions, reasonably well, that make the relatively prosperous life we have possible.  Clean water, sewage treatment, roads, functioning courts to enforce contracts, laws, and the like, a social safety net apparatus that has helped drive down stark poverty (yes, SS really works), etc. etc. ad infinitum.  You 1) dismiss every bit of that with a handwave, 2) focus on only the failings (without conceding that all of your criticisms are valid, presume they are), and propose as a solution....3) burn the whole fucking thing down.

FFS, my wife is an incredibly positive part of my life.  She provides strength when I need it, she co-parents, she feeds me intellectually and emotionally, she helps keep our house running, all of the good stuff.  She is ALSO fiscally irresponsible when it comes to buying purses (she has more than enough, just stop).  She drives me mad with her preference to drive on surface streets instead of taking faster and more efficient freeways.  Her refusal to see any movie that involves lots of violence or horror limits the fuck out of my movie choices.  You would characterize my wife as an unreasonably picky, fiscally irresponsible, inefficient driver....ignoring every single good thing I listed first.  And would thus be happy seeing her tossed out the door and onto the trash heap.

It's fucking insane and psychopathic.  So, now you've gotten what you always wanted: we are burning down our collective house.  And for years, plenty of us have warned about exactly what's happening -- the house in engulfed in flames, with a shitload of people inside, who are going to suffer immensely.  You.  Don't.  Care.

And you do so for the stupidest of reasons.  Because our system is FLAWED.....all of it, the good and bad, must be destroyed.  And damn the suffering.  That was ALWAYS going to be the outcome.  If you burn down the house that 350 million of us live in, lots of people are going to be horrifically burned.  Burned people is what you have always wanted.

I might suggest that you workshop your draft valentines day letter with someone.  It could use a little spit and polish.

When you root to burn the entire system down

The first time that I posted "burn it all down" was in the days after the 2016 election. And that was mostly a reaction to the point that our broken American political system brought us to.

The two party system has completely captured every aspect of the American political system and has been on a collision course with disaster and fiscal ruin for a long time. We have an long ineffective congress that has ceded its deliberative legislative process over decades completely to party leadership, allowed for the executive branch to consolidate power of all kinds, but especially notably wrt war making. We have an intelligence community that it totally off the rails and violating the constitutional rights of Americans as a matter of daily business. A entrenched foreign policy/military industry that has destabilized numerous regions throughout the world, directly resulting in blow back that undermines American credibility and costs American lives, while pilfering American taxpayers on the regular. There is no path forward where our dysfunctional two party system is going to do a nice clean but meaningful course correction at the federal level.

And you think that this about road infrastructure, or the wastewater treatment system and making the poo poo go down the pipes.

Just answer the simple question: when you burn it ALL down -- and "all" includes things like USAID and medical and food programs it actively operates on a daily basis in dozens of countries, payment systems like SS that actively fund people living day-by-day, programs that are the basis for the livelihoods of literally millions of Americans both indirectly and directly (example of "directly" -- Catholic Charities in Galveston just laid off 120 people in its refugee resettlement office - they now have no job or paycheck, and the refugees who were in process, promised their assistance, are high-and-dry), etc. ad nauseum -- your "burning it all down" necessarily means that those people are going to suffer, and some of them will die, correct?

I mean, the fucking irony of you actively rooting for a course of action that will necessarily have direct AND collateral damage that = incredible suffering and death, in the name of your supposedly moral high ground of opposing....that exact sort of action.  You beclown yourself, and you think that nobody sees it.  It's the last part that's most pathetic.  That you think you've fooled.....anyone.  You root for something that is metaphorical area-bombing, claiming "hey, I never said a particular person should be hurt," and think that's absolution, when you spend pages here criticizing that exact moral calculus.  It's fucking rich.

Walters had to get his name back into the news after yesterday:

https://www.news9.com/story/67ad1124762b2f4d8649bf7e/superintendent-ryan-walters-former-osbe-members-form-trump-advisory-committee

Quote

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters and former State Board of Education members Kendra Wesson and Katie Quebedeaux have formed the Trump Advisory Committee, Walters announced Wednesday.

According to a press release from Walters, the group will “continue to fight the liberal D.C. swamp that has now leaked into Oklahoma’s Executive Branch.” Wesson and Quebedeaux will serve as co-chairs.

Quote

“The United States has shown a desire for transparency in government, proven by the presidential election,” Wesson said. “Secrecy in education hurts taxpayers’ pocketbooks, educational outcomes and, most of all, leaves children vulnerable to predatory behaviors in the classroom.”

“The Trump Advisory Committee is not here to play politics,” Walters said. “We are here to fight on behalf of the hearts, minds, and souls of Oklahoma students, their families, and our educators. The weak will be exposed. The corrupt will be held accountable. And Oklahoma’s children will finally have access to the educational journey they deserve.”

Musk’s X Agrees to Pay About $10 Million to Settle Trump Lawsuit

Musk’s platform becomes second social-media company to settle with Trump after Jan. 6, 2021 riot triggered bans

WASHINGTON—Elon Musk’s X has agreed to pay about $10 million to settle a lawsuit that Donald Trump brought against the company and its former chief executive, according to people familiar with the matter.

The agreement makes X the second social-media platform to settle litigation that Trump filed when the companies deplatformed him over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump, along with other plaintiffs, filed the lawsuit in 2021 against the company, then called Twitter, and its chief executive at the time, Jack Dorsey. Musk reinstated Trump on the platform in November 2022.
