I’m sure all of these career military people just loved being lectured to by a draft dodger (and of course convicted felon and rapist, etc.)

"You might think these career military men don't like listening to me because I was prevented from serving. I wanted to. I wanted to fight. I tried to join the fight, but they said you can't because of your feet. I told them I could fight, tremendous fight, but they wouldn't let me. We would've won the war if they would've let me do war stuff. People say 'oh he couldn't fight they won't like Trump', but after I spoke a lot of men, big, strong men....some say the strongest....they came up to me with their big, beautiful medals and saluted me. Long salutes. One with tears in his eyes said 'sir, that is the best speech I've ever heard and I respect you more than any man alive. Ever. You're saving America because you have more courage in your bone spurs than any liberal woke DEI trans lover could ever have.' He asked me if he could go to war torn Portland in the name of Trump. I don't know. I might send him to take back Portland for us. And, the farmers, I'm going to help them because Biden killed farmers. So, I'm going to save them. Barron showed me a farm on his computer."

It's pretty fucking insane that a bunch of people collectively decided to burn down the most powerful empire the world has ever known basically because they were bored.

And so much this.

It's not just that we're absolutely taking a wrecking ball to this country in every possible way.  It's that we're doing so for no fucking good reason whatsoever.  It's goddamned collective insanity, and presuming that when it's all over, there is a world left in which books are written, the book on the self-immolation of the United States is going to be one where future readers put it down and say "that can't be true.  That can't be what really happened.  Not a single bit of it makes any sense."

That snare drummer that Hegseth hit with the axe wasn't just any old schlub.  That was Jeff Prosperie, probably the greatest snare drummer in the last few decades if not longer.  He won the solo competitions at DCI, DCA, and PAS, and did his masters and doctoral work at University of North Texas, where he taught the drumline.  He also taught Phantom Regiment's drumline for years.  Nice choice of targets, Hegseth.  (By the way, Prosperie is suing FOX News over the incident.)

In case anyone didn't know, all of those military band musicians are seriously talented and formally educated musicians.

We were spoiled, I think I am trying to say. As were those on the other side: willing to tear it all down because they had been so thoroughly nourished by the vacuous plenty in which we all lived, a bountiful condition that allowed people to thrive and opine and swagger around like kings and queens while remaining ignorant of their own history.

Yes, one of my HS friends did her masters on French horn at North Texas and made the Army band.  She said the quality of musicianship in those groups is off the charts.

The esper memoir talks about the strange obsession trump had with ships. He described as walking into the Oval Office and Trump flipping pages on ship paint jobs and designs like a kid with the sears catalog making a Christmas list, essentially just as we all imagine it. Like the photoshop of him fist pumping walking into Chuck E. Cheese

genuinely hilarious

I have assumed opinions of Trump are mixed among military officers, but making Hegseth their boss cannot possibly have made anyone more of a fan of Trump.  Even if they’re MAGA through and through, any officer in that audience HAS to have had the thought “I cannot believe I report to this dipshit.”

What's Donny's cut going to be?

You know there will be a grift. There’s always a grift. And we are so numb to it that no one will even care. He has normalized complete corruption.

If you're going to build battleships that'll just get sunk because they're outdated, you should build 'em pretty, says dotard.

Is this the airing of the grievances?

Wall St analysts agree - it's just as nauseatingly stupid as it sounds

Quote

Still, analysts said the impact on patients’ pocketbooks — and the hit to Pfizer’s bottom line — is likely to be meager. Prices at the pharmacy counter are the result of an opaque system of negotiation and rebates that render drug pricing a black box.

“For all the hype and commentary around delivering a transformative win for lower drug prices, it’s worth noting that Pfizer’s press release didn’t change a single financial metric or piece of guidance,” wrote Cantor analyst Carter Gould. “The immediate stock reaction across the group affirms our view this is more optics than bite, and the sector is appropriately trading higher on fading MFN concerns.”

edit- for some reason, Brainworm checked in with a really stupid quote

Quote

“Albert and I have had a long history of antipathy and antagonism toward each other,” said Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has repeatedly questioned the safety of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine. “But I have to say his leadership in this took tremendous courage, and he really created a template for corporate responsibility, for putting public health ahead of his individual interests.”

"Some" drugs.
50% "average" discount.
Licensing fee paid or use of Trump name - almost certain.

And this “discount” has zero to do with what prices they bill insurance companies. It’s for cash pay patients.

I already told my wife that she needs be ready tomorrow to have a bunch of dipshits demanding a 50% discount like the orange for promised, on all scripts, even if using insurance and even if they aren’t made by Pfizer.

ETA that some drugs might be discounted to State Medicaid programs.
