Is there ever a point where enough Republicans grow some sense and realize that IF the country survives the path their leadership is on, when it is over it likely results in the eradication of their party, or at the very least a "go sit in the corner and limp along for the next 50-100 years"

Yeah, yeah....that was hard for me to type, especially the word "sense," but history has shown when this kind of thing gets cast off, it gets cast off HARD.

Ha! Please, please, please, go and fuck around and find out Capt. Kelly.

Like I said, it’s a distraction, which they need after the two legal losses today,  They all keep leaving out that he was talking about illegal orders.

Could be also using it to keep him out of the Senate briefly as well.

Trump is talking about RICO? 100% chance that means someone has been telling him that he's doing things that are likely to be prosecuted under RICO.

Eh probably a hangover from that dumbshit in Atlanta.

Yep. The only reason he wants any of these people prosecuted is because he was. He doesn’t care that he committed acts resulting in criminal guilt and civil liability and they’ve done nothing wrong.

Like ge got spanked in the third grade for breaking classroom rules and wants the teacher to spank everyone else who did nothing but laugh at his tears.

He is Arizona royalty. He’s an outstanding representative and has better positions than senators from even bluer states. He has aspirations to run for president, I’d hate to see him go, but it stings less with his junior senator and partner Senator Gallego.

I really think our best shot is a white guy with a military background.  Look at the country we live in.  I wish that wasn’t the case and we could have the best damn candidate regardless of race or sex, but that’s not today’s USA.

Gavin is out there certainly shitting on Trump every chance he gets but Trump is mostly ignoring him, so Kelly is going to get the bump in the rankings now that Trump and the major are going after him.

Seriously, if he had any balls or moral compass, he would have ended the interview right then and there. These are not serious people.

Probably right.  The last guy to beat MAGA was a white guy with no military background, and we had to sweat that one out.  Some say Kelly is boring, but by the time Biden ran in 2020, I think his age had eroded a lot of his charisma, so it's not like Kelly is a big step down on personality.

My concern is that in today's age of politics, the "when they go low, we stay high" aspiration is long gone, supplanted by aggressive rhetoric and social media jabs.  Even if Trump doesn't run in 2028, the next Republican Party candidate will still be MAGA and follow the same campaign playbook as Trump.  Some Democratic politicians like Gavin Newsome have recognized that and adjusted their messaging.  I think a relatively mild-mannered guy like Kelly is going to have to take a few shots to the groin here and there if the Dems have a shot to retake the White House.

While the idea of Kelly as President someday has a warm feeling, he would be perfect for Secretary of Defense.  Because God knows how much of a cleanup job that is going to be.

They tried to carry out an insurrection and wound up winning the next midterms and presidential election.  Why would they stop until the rubes finally wake up or die off?  I vote for them dying off.

Yep.  Unless someone comes out of the woodwork, it's going to be Newsom.  Have to think Mayor Pete will be in there somewhere.  Maybe VP?  Though it will probably be a woman.

I'm not sold on Newsom.  Not because I think he'd substantively be a bad candidate.  But because I think the Democratic Party is going to play this next race super safe, to ChiTownDoc's point.  I think Newsom might carry too much of the California/lib/woke/socialist perception that MAGA will pounce on, even if Newsom's policies might be more centrist.

And for the same "playing it safe" reason, there's no way a gay man is on the ticket in 2028.  Just no way.  We'll have a woman -- even a Latino woman -- as a VP candidate before Pete Buttigieg.

These people have learned that they don’t even have to try. Just say whatever. It doesn’t matter. No one cares, and there will be no consequences. Hell, she’ll probably get elected somewhere.

Meanwhile, somewhere a democrat is getting roasted for using a misplaced modifier. Might cost them their job. Big scandal.

The military background hasn't been a thing since GHWB.  I don't count Air Shrub's cosplay bullshit.

Dole, Kerry, McCain all military backgrounds all got their asses kicked.

I'm genuinely at surprised how many people think it's even possible for a Democrat to save us in 2028, as if there is going to be a fair election, and as if the current regime will step aside if it loses.

This is the way.  Anyone not responding like this is missing the mark.

This got me thinking that the Dems need to select a sacrificial candidate during the primaries to go full heel on MAGA.  While the genuine candidates do their normal spiel, this person would hold rallies deep in the heart of MAGA country and do nothing but call them fucking losers, drains on society, shitbirds, lean all the way into it.  Take the video above about MAGA being the problem and turn it up to 11.
