Judge permanently blocks ‘unconstitutional’ Trump order targeting law firm Perkins Coie

A federal judge on Friday ruled that an executive order signed by President Donald Trump targeting a law firm that represented his 2016 presidential opponent was unconstitutional.

US District Judge Beryl Howell ruled that the executive order targeting Perkins Coie violated the First, Fifth and Sixth Amendments, calling it a “blunt exercise of power” that “is not a legitimate use of the powers of the U.S. government or an American President”

“The U.S. Constitution affords critical protections against Executive action like that ordered in EO 1423,” Howell, referring to the executive order, wrote in her 100-plus page opinion. “Government officials, including the President, may not ‘subject … individuals to ‘retaliatory actions’ after the fact for having engaged in protected speech.’”

No they don’t. The helmet stickers are earned on the field.

For what kind of things? Would forced fumbles qualify? What about defensive touchdowns... That would be a couple of stickers, right?

I remember one day I was over at my Dad's house and we just finished lunch. He asked where we ate and my kids said 'Halal Guys!'. My Dad gave them a weird look and I just shook my head and changed the subject.

No chance of that happening, so we need to focus on educating people how not to be a dumbass online, how to identify propaganda vs news reporting, how to think critically, etc.

What I proposed could work, this could never work. When we push more responsibility on people they fail. The human brain wants shortcuts and takes them. Despite what people otherwise profess.

Every coach has different criteria and the details are kept secret. But big plays are always a part of it. I’m sure every TD gets a leaf. Every forced fumble or interception, every sack, every long run or completed pass (maybe 15 or 20 yds or more? I don’t know). They grade each player’s performance after each game so they’re probably also tied to their grade. I know Tressel gave out leaves to the whole team for some things. Everyone probably got one for every win including scout team players. I think I recall hearing about nobody getting a leaf after some particularly bad loss. Can’t recall when that was. (Maybe under Meyer?)

I heard Buckeye fans commenting that helmets at the start of the postseason weren’t as full of stickers as usual and there was speculation that they were being awarded more sparingly to allow for a longer slate of games but that seems kind of fanciful. I didn’t pay that much attention to it.

You'll just put ideas in their heads. There's not enough coverage of what's going on with MAGA celebs going Catholic and wanting to push the Church back to the Dark Ages. There's not enough coverage about those who vote based on Kingdom notions of living prophets pushing them to set the world up for a dominion so their fucked-up mutant Jesus/Old Testament God can start persecuting people and put women in their place.

Nasty woman. Never-Trumper. Very dangerous for our country.

Back in 2016, I thought the pussy hat demonstration indicated that women would be the nation's best counter to Trump. The majority of white me are with him. Women were more likely to see what a pile of shit Trump is. Then they found a way to scare suburban women: the gays are grooming your kids and corrupting them by not censoring any reference to homosexuals or transexuals.

BLM gained support as, for a couple of minutes, a large part of the nation was concerned about police murdering people of color. That excellent protest movement was cast as invaders who had conquered parts of the cities where demonstrations were held. A wimpy shit became a right wing hero by walking among the protesters with an automatic rifle and even killing one or two.

Then distractions like Vanderpump or Sunday's game or cell phone fun settled back upon us like like an opiate fog.

Probably for the best at this point.

Whatever happened to 'let the market decide' and 'consumer demand'? Perhaps the House dining establishment went with what was popular.

Steak n Shake (a subsidiary of Biglari Holdings) is owned by Sardar Biglari of San Antonio who acquired the franchise when it was performing poorly and turned it around. The company did align itself with DJT in 2025, so Steak n Shake is owned by an Iranian immigrant family (I have no idea of the family's religion and it doesn't matter to me personally) and CHA Street Food is owned by a family with ties to Pakistan and formed their company based on their travels to procure tea and flavors from that country. Isn't immigrant enterprise a wonderful thing for this country, rep Collins?

Close minded fucks. Control freaks.

White vs brown/black. Don’t be blinded by these racist control freaks.

No one is trying to take your “white culture/cuisine” away.

No one gives a shit about hot dogs and burgers.

Give me some arepas, tacos, gyros, curries, Thai, Chile rellenos, sushi, empanadas, mariscos, paella.

Dude…that’s all great, and is what COULD make this country great.
But the souls of this country is frozen, artery-clogging shit at Applebees. America is an Applebees.

It's also worth considering that American cuisine at it's best is a fusion or adoption of all the wonderful flavors brought here from other places.

I got to enjoy the revelation of Indian food then Thai when they popped up on the scene in Austin. Thank God for Texas' Mexican heritage! In my youth, it was a treat to go to a Mexican restaurant in Houston. Had to travel a bit, and it was a nice restaurant. I'm so happy it ballooned everywhere around here before the abomination of Taco Bell* had a chance to define Mexican food. I guess Monterrey House was part of that fight as well. I'm not that picky, the house was good with me.

I'd add the cheese-stuffed cheese pizza with added parmesan and the condiment syrup known as Jack Daniels sauce as stellar additions to world cuisine and health.

*If this starts a tedious argument about the proper form of the taco or which eatery is the best, I swear, I'll put a Trump Flag in my yard to speed the decline. I'm a white, heterosexual man who won't live forever. I'm sure I'll be fine.

Never eaten at an Applebees. Had never eaten at a Chilis, either, until you assholes talked up their burger. Next time you want a Chiles burger, folks, go to Willie’s.

I had a college friend who lured me to Applebees because of their half priced appetizers. The cheese sticks are fucking green. I’ve dined there two or three times.

I ate at Chili’s once.

ONCE!

Chili's provided my first soft taco back in the 70s. It's not a place to go to get anything special.

I went to Grandy's once. The line was long. Everything was fried and served with a grayish "cream gravy." I could eat that stuff back then, but this...this...version of southern cuisine in a big plastic restaurant and a cornball name was too much. I was with people who liked it. I got a sandwich or something.

Appleby's must be owned by the cornsyrup industry. Their gooey ads are sickening. I'm glad mostly stream. I have watch commercials during football season. I get murderous.

And, my friends, this is what started this country on the road to Trumpism!

Have an Applebee's down the road from us and used to pickup an order of their queso as the wife loved it, last ate there on NYD a few years ago as we lost power at the house and AB had TVs to watch the games.

Fan of the Chili's burger but their salsa sucks hind tit and we ate there on election night so no more going back.

I knew the family that founded Grandy’s. They have the rudest daughter.
