Yesterday at 03:18 AM1 day Hope FCB is right; he specifically says "expected to return" ...Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby expected to return for 2026, source saysChip Brown (247 Staff)Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby expected to return for 2026, source saysTexas star left tackle Trevor Goosby expected to return for 2026, source says Chip Brown (247 Staff)AUSTIN, Texas — Texas redshirt sophomore left tackle Trevor Goosby is expected to return to the Longhorns for the 2026 season, a source close to the situation told Horns247.After Texas' 41-27 victory over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, Steve Sarkisian said, "We've got a great nucleus of players coming back to this team. We'll find the right mix of potential portal players to add, but we've got to retain our players, too. That's really important."Goosby was at the top of Texas' priority list of players to retain, considering Goosby was the one shining star on an offensive line that struggled in 2025 and also considering Goosby was getting feedback from the NFL that he could be a late first-round or second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. In 1,175 career snaps played across three seasons at Texas, Goosby has given up just three sacks. Goosby has played in 30 games for the Longhorns with 15 starts.Unlike former Texas right tackle Cameron Williams, who didn't care for school and wanted to move on after just one season as a starter, (and ended up as a sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 NFL Draft), Goosby isn't in a rush to go pro.Sources close to Goosby say the 6-foot-7, 312-pound 247Sports three-star prospect from Melissa sees the merit of adding the weight, strength and experience that will come from another season of starts at left tackle for the Longhorns. Those sources say Goosby wants a chance to solidify himself as a high first-round pick like his mentor Kelvin Banks Jr., who was selected No. 9 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints after three seasons as Texas' starter at left tackle.Goosby will also have a chance to spend a year in college with his younger brother, Austin, a top-20 national 2026 prospect as a 6-foot-5 small forward who will arrive in the fall to play basketball for Sean Miller's program.Goosby established himself as a go-to player in 2024, when he was called into action at Texas A&M when Banks had an ankle injury. With Goosby in the lineup against an Aggies' defense giving up just 128.4 rushing yards per game (3.9 ypc), Texas was able to run the ball 50 times for 240 yards (4.8 ypc) as Goosby.Goosby ended up starting at left tackle in place of an injured Banks against Georgia in a 22-19 overtime loss in the SEC Championship game, and then subbed in at right tackle in College Football Playoff victories against Clemson and Arizona State after starter Cameron Williams suffered an ankle injury. In those four games as a redshirt freshman in 2024, Goosby gave up zero sacks.
