BTW, all of this talk about the talent in the WR room and not a one of you fuckers has deigned to mention the bastard child of Alan Jackson. You guys are slipping and you should all be ashamed.

If it makes you feel any better, in my YPC comment above I originally had like four sentences about how much better the offense would have been and looked if Jackson Jr (26 catches) got the 38 catches that went to Moore lol

X-posting from an update in the coaching staff thread:

"I was also told Juluke’s first meeting with running back Tre Wisner went very well. Wisner faces a significant decision ahead of the 2026 season, with the NFL, NIL opportunities, and the transfer portal all in play. While there are several boxes that still need to be checked, the early impression from that initial meeting was positive, and Juluke appears to have earned a sense of approval from the soon-to-be senior back."

Will be interesting to see who gets Baxter's touches in the bowl game between Simon and Clark. Whoever is on the short end can't feel good about their place on the depth chart entering 2026 if Wisner returns and we add a portal RB as expected.

I think White Chocolate is more of a niche role player rather than a WR1 type. He doesn't seem to get enough separation in short passing situations.

True, but this is true of every fanbase and many of them are way, way dumber than ours. Also, you guys don't always have to take the bait en masse. Assume a stupid take will get pummeled into submission and there's no need to add your own thoughts and reading it feels less like an epidemic.

You talkin' bout McStud?  2nd on the team in receiving TD's and owns the longest play from scrimmage all year on this team.  Ol' white lightning really showed us something.

He’s younger than a Chris Stapleton guitar pick. Give him time and @closetojumping will rue the day he declared that he would do a Kegel for every yard AJ Jr. gained during the season.

Livingstone was far from our greatest problem on offense. He made some great catches...especially in the first half of the season, when Mosley was out and Arch was having major accuracy issues.

he was with coach Akina at Stanford buddy

What? Have we had Akina doing the wrong job all along? And Mosely was at Stanford as junior in high school? Pretty impressive.

I’m assuming we have to spend real money at LB now. Any potential targets on the radar? Ty Smith is developing nicely, but coming into the season with him as your most experienced LB is not ideal. I don’t think you want Spence moving to ILB, that’s a downgrade from Lefau on the inside. It’s also not a great room for a guy like Atkinson to enter right now. Freshman Hill was able to join a veteran group with leaders like Ford and carve out a niche role. Atkinson might play around 220lbs next fall, you can’t expect him to start. That’s a similar dynamic to Malik’s first year as a Longhorn. Yet I think Malik was more Ant Hill than Atkinson.

There are 2-3 good LB's already in the portal

95 is out of control and over penetrates and 3 other players overplay the motion man.

I'd argue 95 had great penetration and the o-line (75) grabbed him by the head and pulled him further in since he knew he just got blown up.  Shoulda been holding on 75.

That’s one I had circled. I think he’d kill it here in this offense.

Yep, everytime I watched him play for KSU this season, I thought he would be the perfect guy for the slot.

Are these guys we actually want though? I see Gibson and Baxter are #2 and #3 at RB. A lot of these guys seem pretty light in the trousers. My USC buddies say Mataoi Tagoa’i is a dawg, but he’d be just another inexperienced body.

Portal doesn't even actually open until Jan. 2nd. These are just people who announced early that they'll be in it. It will grow every day and then probably explode on Jan 2.

I’ve been under the impression that a good bit of those guys are ones told that they weren’t making it.  I have also been under the impression that most of the good players cut a deal sometimes before they enter or at least have a good idea where they are going before the enter.

He can definitely benefit from 10 lbs of added muscle. He needs Jordan Shipley to be his personal trainer this summer.

Not always the case. Look at Diomande or the Liberty running back for a good type of counter-example. Had a fantastic year at a G5 school, wants tape at the highest level, and it's in his interest to get a bidding war going.

I'm fairly certain they're talking about getting rid of Akina. He is unpopular with the players.

That’s what I figured, but hell - these days

That's the first time their side hasn't been completely positive about keeping Baugh.

Also some clarity that we are, in fact, looking to entice him into the portal.

Running back seems like it could end up a premium NIL mercenary position. The position has been greatly devalued in the NFL but has retained far more of its importance in college despite similar rule changes (probably related to lower QB/WR skill levels, etc.). So these guys have much less to look forward to career earnings wise compared to the other skill positions  and every college carry seems to cost them money because of NFL scouts and analysts worrying about overuse.

I absolutely despise our “fans.” Very emotional. Quick to whine about the lack of loyalty in college FB and then want to throw everyone away bc they weren’t perfect.

Very true about Texas fans..and every blue blood fan base in cfb.

Also, probably the easiest position on the field besides kicker to incorporate someone who is new to the team, I.e., least amount of friction for team to team movement.

Probably another chit in the “save your money for 5 stars and the portal” pile as a team building paradigm.

So Bobby made a comment in today’s coffee and football that guys like Smith, Filsame, Phillips, Zina, Terry, maybe I missed another name or two are taking the next steps in practice.  Then he said he would be shocked if 1-2 of those didn’t leak into the portal.  Thought it was interesting.

Obviously want to keep all these guys, that number better be 1 rather than 2. We can lose Zina and maybe Filsaime, but the others would be pretty big losses.

This staff has been pretty good about not losing guys they don't want to lose.

Devil's advocate--we think that's true because the $9.95 guys are repeating it, and their source is the coaches...

I mean, I get the logic, but our LB and RB depth is pretty thin.
