Well shit--I am going to be downtown in my office writing a brief anyway.  I might as well walk over to the Capitol for a few hours Saturday and run the very serious risk of getting shot by the SS.

Exactly.  It’s a massive fuck up if he slaughters someone for simply holding up a sign - he definitely wants to punish anyone, even someone totally innocent, so it’s all set up.

Those behind the scenes wish he would act in silence but he can’t help himself.  For the 1000th time, this is all very bad, but we are still lucky there’s so many idiots in charge.

But I was told the adults were back in charge.

UW campus one in Seattle (it's two stops closer on the train, lol).

I'm actually sorry I'll have just missed the one in Lisbon - yes, Democrats Abroad Portugal is holding one there.

Legit LOL at Abbott making national news by announcing that he'll deploy the National Guard before the protest even starts.

You having camera withdrawals, little bitch boy?

Should read that ABC has turned into turnip propaganda!  Especially bending the knee by letting Terry Moran go for tweeting the truth.

I'm not defending deploying the national guard or abbott, but I do think there is a serious risk of non-peaceful protests because shit is all stirred up and charged right now.

What the nation doesn't need right now is another Minneapolis during BLM/George Floyd Protests. That shit didn't help fucking anything and that's what people want to avoid.

It looks like LA has had plenty of accountability within the protest, but at night the violence starts when most people go home.

Be safe out there and be smart.

You know, watching what's unfolding with Trump's blatantly political assault on the people of this country, he and his administration probably see this as a test for those that are against him. "How far can we go? What can we get away with?" But I feel pretty confident that half this country will go to war against the government if they keep this up. They're crossing a line and the people will fight back.

The real test here is for his supporters and people that voted for him. Are they gonna dig in when this gets bloody? When the economy and markets crash? Are they willing to sacrifice everything for Trumpism? The reality is MAGA is completely based on cowardice. Maybe they think everyone else is like them. We are on the path of fucking around and finding out.

We will get George Floyd level of protests, maybe not this weekend.  If there isn’t a bunch of chaos this weekend Dotard will figure out a way to pardon Chauvin just to get a reaction out of the masses.

Chauvin doesn’t want to be pardoned. A pardon would mean that he would be moved from a federal prison in rural West Texas to a state prison in Minnesota. It does not set him free and his living conditions would be worse with a pardon.

Sure, but Trump doesn't give a fuck about any of that.  He sees political poker chips to be used at his discretion, not human beings.

Don’t disagree in the least. Was just pointing out why you don’t hear about his people lobbying Trump for a pardon like you do for all of the other pardons that Trump has sold.

I agree, but I also think that Abbott making a big deal out of deploying the NG ahead of time adds to the risk.  It's an open invitation for all the Texas MAGA Gravy Seal open carry types to show up to "help protect the Capitol."  He's creating the perception of a threat that won't even be there, per the playbook.

“Gravy Seal open carry types” - I’m not sure if I’ve been living under a rock but I’ve never heard this term before, and I love it.

My friend, there is absolutely no "probably" about this.  The ICE raids in LA were intended to stir up a response to which he could counter respond.  The playbook was already drawn up.  I always kinda chuckled at @Brisketexan's Eeyore-esque "the end is nigh" posts, but I think we are inching ever closer to level of civil unrest we may have never seen since our founding.

If you haven't already and have Disney+, watch Andor. It's an incredibly instructive non-CR series (though the parallels are unmistakable) about fascism and rebelling from it.

Apologies if you've already seen it, because I can't recall if you've posted in that thread.

I have not.  I just don't have anyone in my household I could get on board.  Maybe I'll solo it.

And yet, half this country thinks a failed business man cum reality TV show star is doing a good job as POTUS.
