Inspiration to countless musicians. Heck of a front man. Great to see him get his props at last show. Loved his travel show with Jack. Didn't how much of a history buff ozzy was. Positive thoughts to all who loved the guy.

Growing up, my sister was a big Sabbath fan, so I "learned," about Sabbath through her.

Move to 1985...   My 7th grade English teacher would let us eat lunch in his class early then we would just go downstairs to lunch and fuck off.    I always had my Sony "Walkman," with me and a few cassettes.  Black Sabbath "Volume 4," was played almost everyday that year.

Man this really sucks.

I was just thinking that Ozzy has been (in some sort of way), in my life.... literally my whole life. It is very hard for an entertainer to stay relevant that long.  From 1970 to today.

I have a vivid recall of the first time I heard Black Sabbath. It was the fall of 1970 and my buddies and I were camping on a Friday night. One of them had an a track tape of Black Sabbath’s first album and he cranked it up and played the whole thing.  We weren’t sure exactly what we were listening to, but we knew we liked it.  RIP Ozzy.

My older brother had one of their albums, and it scared the shit out of me.  Seemed like there was a song about witches that really freaked me out.

I first learned of Ozzy in junior high. We were all talking in the football locker room about how bad ass and hard AC/DC was.

Buddy brought in his older brother’s tape of Blizzard. He said fuck AC/DC, you wanna hear hard, listen to this. And pressed play on I Don’t Know. Holy shit.

I can only imagine hearing a banger like this in 1981 compared to what was considered "hard rock" at the time.

There were songs about Satan, witches, wizards, the black arts, etc.  And the picture of the witch/spirit on the cover of Black Sabbath’s first album.  She looked like she was probably carrying a disease, but she looked so good that you wouldn’t mind getting it.

Got backstage when Black Sabbath opened for Mountain around 1971 in the Municipal Auditorium (now Palmer) and met the band.

Cool guys and that show was fucking amazing.

The balcony was literally moving 8 to 10 inches up and down during the show.

I have seen this before but obviously it’s even more poignant today. Farewell to the Prince of Darkness. Maybe someday we will get a concert in the next life. RIP. 🥀

It's so great that he made it to the Back to the Beginning show for a well deserved victory lap and to bask in the adulation of both musicians he inspired and the fans that have adored him for decades. I don't know if I've heard another performer thank the fans over and over in live shows and express his appreciation as much as Ozzy. He bounced back from rock bottom more than once and extended his career longer than anyone would have thought 45 years ago.  RIP to the one and only Prince of Darkness ( who turned into a doting teddy bear of a grandpa and dog lover)

Damn. This one stings. Ozzy is synonymous with metal. Kind of the mascot for the whole genre, really. Which makes sense because he fronted the band that invented heavy metal as we came to know it.

His early solo stuff is great, Sabbath is iconic, and even the early stuff as Earth is a jam:

RIP.
