Ignoring politics wasn’t the badge of honor you thought it was.

Badge of honor? Life and death for you, huh?

How can someone take that video seriously?

"sources within the federal government" sources

"taking over the district by force" force?

"what these federal government insiders said" insiders

"reports suggest" reports

"corporate controlled areas governed by what they call CEO Kings" 😆

"I know it sounds crazy and conspiritorial..." Yeah...

"A month ago, my sources told me..." sources

"give DC to Peter Thiel" He's richer!

"Those who predicted the DC takeover said it won't stop here" those. Next stop, District of the Moon.

"take over territories" What? Territories? Leave St. Thomas alone!

"Their STATED intention is to make the government obsolete to the power of billionaires" source? Was it sources, insiders, reports, sources or those. Maybe a 3 letter agency.

"make us live in areas controlled by Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg" Free delivery and boomers. Pass.

Do you have an opinion on whether it is appropriate for the president to federalize the policing of Washington DC  given the facts of the current levels of crime and homelessness and if yes can you give a reasoned explanation of your opinion?

I agree that random fly-by-night twitter tik tok hot takes shouldn't be part of the discussion.  It distracts from what is actually happening - that our current POTUS is using the military against a civilian population for political gain with false and manufactured justification.  It makes me ponder on what happened to the folks worried about overuse of federal powers or the folks behind no gestapo in bastropo.

Yeah, shit's bad enough without making shit up.  The rationals need to adopt some of the right's tactics, but conspiracy theories aren't one of them.  I don't think.

Maybe it's a way to reach the idiots.

Edited to say deflection does no good when billionaires have taken aim at dismantling our Republic. Sure, it’s the NYT, absolutely, those folks aren’t conservative. Irrelevant to the issue of the Federal government taking over cities with a monarchist long game, and aided by those who think politics is a nuisance that is beneath them.

I won't watch tiktok political shit on general principle, but assuming nate's quotes are accurate that's not conspiracy theories, that's all things the silicon valley bros who run most of the GOP these days have all said they want to do. It's bog standard Curtis Yarvin shit. And it aligns with the freedom cities proposed by project 2025 that they're actively planning right now.

This is just performative bullshit to get people to stop talking about what a fucking piece of shit pedo he is.

Parking military at the Mall? Take pictures, please. Show them on the news, please. Write articles about it. Lots of articles!

Now you have bullshit magats arguing about the merits of "taking" over a US city and not looking in the mirror questioning being a piece of shit supporting a piece of shit.

It's definitely meant to distract, but it's also far more than performative. They're laying the groundwork for full martial law if they think they need it next election. Nobody of substance in the gop has the balls to push back on clearly fascist bullshit because it's their team. Even if purely performative, the gop is going with it, and their voters aren't concerned. We are fucked as a country if we can't get get some new voters to step up and vote against this because nobody is jumping ship at this point on the other side.

Maybe, maybe not. This admin deployed national guard to LA during the ICE protest. They didn't do shit other than sleep in hallways, find things to eat and drink, and pose for pictures.

The military parking their trucks en force around the National Mall is nothing more than a photo op to get his dipshit base all fired up again. The Mall is one of the safest places in America. Now you have dipshit magats on here arguing for this shit. They don't dare poke their heads in the Epstein thread. He's got dipshit magats on the attack again. Mission accomplished.

edit: This administration desperately needs to control the narrative. With Epstein, they were on a no win, endless losing defense. Now they are on the attack again. Look at the magat rats on this thread who came to the surface again.

This administration confuses the aesthetics of oppression with actual oppression.  That's to our benefit, but there's no guarantee they don't figure it out. But for now all they're really doing is pissing off all the NG guys who have to put up with this shit, which makes them less likely to go along with actual oppression in the future.

Heard that a thousand times about the Texas Guard down at the border.

Yes, and you know what? A shitload of them have separated or want to when their time is up because they hate this shit, but most have their hands tied and have to bide their time until they finish their obligation and can separate, and they have to keep their noses clean and not publicly criticize any of the operations at the border, else they draw the anger of the higher-ups who don't want Abbott and Co. pissed.

None of them signed up to do this shit - if they wanted to do this full-time, they would have joined Border Patrol/ICE, and they'd be paid a lot more (especially when they are putting in 60-80 hour weeks). People tend to forget that those NG troops that get ordered to the border are having to leave school or jobs (which are usually better paying) and they are having to leave their homes to live in some shitty hotel room or fuck-off field tent barracks.  None of the college students (and college students make up a lot of NG members) are happy that they are putting their studies on hold because Abbott is desperately seeking Trump's attention. Those who had to leave decent jobs are sweating that those same jobs will still be there when they get back.  Not to mention that if you have been in the NG for a while and you've been employed by the same company for a number of years and have done multiple deployments, after 5 years of cumulative leave for various deployments, your employer does not have to retain your job (and even if you're under the 5 year cap, there's all kinds of ways that employers can screw you over and still comply with the law).

I've done the NG thing, and granted it was in the 90s, and so it was quite different in some ways (I never fathomed being deployed overseas multiple times, etc.), but it was made up of a shitload of people who had a lot of solid reasons to join the NG and not the active-duty military, none of which were to sit down on the border for long periods of time.

And I live not too far from Camp Mabry, and my kids are friends with kids whose parents are at Camp Mabry in some capacity, and we have neighbors there, etc., and I've heard a lot of horror stories, and I'm not talking about the suicides/depression but people being stretched thin, having to work shit-tastic hours, etc. It's not a good look for the NG in general for a lot of younger folks who are looking at the NG, but fortunately for Abbott, a lot of NG soldiers have to stick it out either because they are trying to reach a certain number of years, or for college benefits, or any other number of reasons that have nothing to do with Abbott's desire to draw attention to Texas.

5 years from now, most of these people will have had the chance to separate or retire or go active duty, and you'll see a lot different NG.

Ain’t nobody reading all that, but this part is interesting. Because what’s left of the guard will be absolutely horrible.

Although it fairly traces to that TikTok, I was just echoing his sentiment and intended it in a more general way.  The Tiktok could be fully accurate.
