Vivek is such an asshole. He posted this shit on Christmas Eve, taking a dump all over everything American (prom, sports, sleepovers, friends) and told everyone they need to be strivers who look at the gargoyle band director in Whiplash as a role model. He hates everything about college football but shows up in a fresh of the rack jersey and the rubes will vote for him for governor.

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it.

I refuse to believe it’s an actual majority that wants this absolute horse shit.

Whether they wanted this scenario entirely or not it is what they voted for. When you vote for TFG, knowing who he is and what he is about, you cast a vote in favor for f what is transpiring. History will not be kind to that vote just like it wasn’t to the Nazis in 1933.

They wanted to own the libs, well, they’re getting owned and are too far gone mentally to realize it. When the end comes for this era of stupidity, well, I won’t feel bad for a single one of them that loses everything of value and importance in their lives. That is up to and including family because we still haven’t reached the off to another foreign war part of this path of destruction.

Democrats need to tone down their rhetoric!!!!!!!

I woke up this morning and I realized I truly understand the term gas lighting now.   I guess i should have gotten it before but the outpouring of responses from the right about Kirk has really hit home.

I guess with Trump i always excused their support because "they" have a reason like "I've always voted GOP" or "the economy" or "immigration" but it had become so apparent that so many live in a different reality than many of us.

But the responses from so many about Kirk is eye opening.  Yes, Trump is an abject racist and misogynist as well.  And too many give him Christ like status.   But for that attitude to filter down to Kirk and now watching him be so venerated.

I just don't know anymore.

The different reality is legit. My niece (who I was close with) has gone full MAGA. Shes on the “Ashley Babbit was murdered in cold blood” wagon. “Kirk was a free speech hero.” Etc etc. just completely and totally gone. I sent her something from a .gov website that contradicted something she believed and she immediately called it the Biden gov website. This was two days ago. So many people are broken.

To be fair, turnip’s busy making sure all government websites adhere to the batshit narrative.

These people, I just... the stupidity. There's nothing they won't believe.

The dumbest part of the entire Fox News apparatus is how they have somehow convinced people that the most outrageous and unbelievable things are happening in other places in this country.

“Everywhere besides your living room is an absolute hell hole and full of violent criminals.”

Yeah, that makes sense.

People are convinced that babies are being killed up to 4 months AFTER birth in California. And not just a few people

Unfortunately, too many are being killed in schools across America up to 18 years after birth.

Oh. Right. Fox viewers seem to be able to disregard that.

r/facepalm - MAGA still confused why people think they're racists

"The regime says all the quiet parts out loud" Exhibit #49,587,622

Ho-hum.  What makes it even cooler is that they'll all deny they are racists or white supremacists....while simultaneously praising and amplifying open and proud white supremacists.

Not sure the best thread for this video, but this resonates with other discussions about how young men fall down the alt-right pipeline

Really interesting stuff about using the aestetics of critical thinking to avoid actually thinking critically, and using that as a rhetorical weapon against "woke"/SJW's/etc
