Connor Williams

Mock drafts don't mean shit. A lot of scouts were critical of Connor Williams and a common theme was that he had to become stronger to play Tackle at the next level. The pundits making these ridiculous mock drafts don't have any input into the draft process. The scouts who observe the players do. Connor and Malik should've returned for their senior seasons. Elliot had nothing to gain, the knock against him is his speed and there is no way around that and it would've been difficult to replicate his performance from last season. Malik definitely would've been a first rounder with another productive season and Connor could've been selected in the Top 15 had he improved on a few things.

sadly conner will go to the browns with the first pick of the second round so he will stuck in hell blocking for douchebag...

Connor probably had nightmares last night about having his job depend on protecting that d-bag.

A guy on CBS said the word about him is he's soft. First I've heard someone say that.

Retarded. That comes from the injury this season and not playing the bowl game. When healthy the dude is physical

Soft has been the rep of all Texas players since Mack babied them, until proven otherwise. Haven’t had enough guys drafted the past few years to dispel that narrative.  Should start turning soon enough.

It was Pete Prisco on the underrated/overrated bit.
Maybe it's still our rep. Malcom Brown went to the SB last year. Jordan Hicks got a ring. Diggs and Vaccaro aren't slouches. But maybe.

Whatever it is about Connor the scouts saw something that cost him a lot of spots. Lots of lineman drafted before he was.

Malik went about where expected.

They saw he has short arms for an offensive tackle prospect and is light for a guard.  He played in 4 games last year because of injury.  Middle of the 2nd round is just fine.

Malik was hoping to go in the 2nd but 3rd is okay too....

I wonder if part of it is skipping the bowl game.
Would've given him an extra game against good competition. Most of the top guys played their bowls, even the ones without anything to play for but pride.
Someone said that players play.

machinator, you are clearly forgetting akers TEAM me slogan, and to is the rest of the team, and possibly the entire generation.   you could have just written "selfish" next to every player you listed and it would have been a much shorter post. every single player you listed you could put themselves above the team.  to say "i dont think there was any practical reason for him to return" is aggravating. wins are not practical?  longhorn pride is not practical?  think how good we would have been next year with all these guys on the field.

Well it’s 100% true so you’re going to have to deal with it.

i like malik and connor, but yeah skipping your one fucking bowl game in your entire career is pretty diva-ish

Not to mention Williams was a fucking team captain.

According to one of our coaching staff that isn't true.

That entire performance was pathetic. Running out in warm ups "trying" to play, then watching from the sidelines with a cane. At least the other quitters made their choice publicly and stood behind it instead of engaging in selfish kabuki.
