My favorite part of the WaPo story was this:

Quote

The largest donation in the foundation’s history — a $264,231 gift to the Central Park Conservancy in 1989 — appeared to benefit Trump’s business: it paid to restore a fountain outside Trump’s Plaza Hotel. The smallest, a $7 foundation gift to the Boy Scouts that same year, appeared to benefit Trump’s family. It matched the amount required to enroll a boy in the Scouts the year that his son Donald Trump Jr. was 11.

That’s amazing even for Trump.  What kind of psycho has either the time or the depravity to go line by line and make sure the charity pays for everything down to the $7 Boy Scouts fee?  Did he tap into the charity every time he wanted change for a vending machine, too?

Just blow up pictures of himself

All these personal "foundations" are self dealing frauds. Al Sharpton's charitable foundation paid Big Al $531,000 for his "life story". https://nypost.com/2018/12/01/al-sharpton-sells-his-life-story-rights-for-531000-to-his-own-charity/

In 2016 he collected north of $700k for his very part time job. https://nypost.com/2017/12/03/how-three-celebrity-backed-charities-spend-your-donations/

Yeah??  Well, what about John Wayne Gacy?  It's not as if Donald Trump raped and murdered 33 young boys.  But you libtards don't want to talk about that, do you?  No collusion!

Yeah he didn't murder AND rape them. Just the rape, which Giuliani says is totally not a serious crime.

I'm not sure equating Trump's behavior with that of Al Sharpton is a convincing defense.

Reading isn't you strong suit I see. Fraud is a civil vause of action and there are multiple state and federal criminal fraud statutes.

Ok. But what’s your take on the now closed trump foundation? On the level?

Uh...

Do I need to explain that everybody does it so they don't enforce it?

Here's a nonpolitical example. Since I wasn't referring to political stuff exclusively.

I thought Bono was legit because of his HIV stuff. But his ONE foundation donated just over 1% in programs and services. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1314543/Bonos-ONE-foundation-giving-tiny-percentage-funds-charity.html

They're all frauds. But I repeat myself.

Interesting. I just searched "Bono One Foundation" on Twitter and looked at the results. The same tweets over and over, and a lot of the users have Red Xs next to their Twitter handle.  Take a look yourself. https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=bono one foundation&src=typd

This is repeated over and over, word for word, copied and pasted on the majority of the tweets: "

In 2008 Bono’s nonprofit ONE foundation raised $14,993,873 in public donations — of which only $184,732 (or just over ONE percent) was distributed to charities. Where did the rest go? More than $8m went to salaries for executives and employees at ONE.

I'll say this much...while the Clinton foundation may not have been clean, there were tens of millions poured into real charity projects.  I know physicians who were on the ground in third world countries and benefitted.  Fucking Trump didn't even pretend his charity was anything more than a personal slush fund.  What a fucking piece of shit.  We should be talking capital punishment.  That's exactly how I feel about anyone stealing from a charity.  And a charity that's 100% fraud?  Die already, fucker.

Certainly not defending Al Sharpton here, but even a 501(c)(3) can purchase an asset from a related for profit so long as they pay no more than FMV.

And now actually reading the article:

"While the organisation's gameplan has never been direct handouts on the ground, many who admire the Irish rock legend may be surprised by the figures."  - Oh, so they are not a charity, but fans will be surprised to find out it's not a charity? Ok.

"ONE spokesman Oliver Buston has now defended the way the organisation is run, insisting the money is used for promoting its campaign and raising awareness rather than being given  straight to those who need help.

He said: 'We don't provide programmes on the ground. We're an advocacy and campaigning organisation.'"

"ONE said it took no money from the public and that most of its funding came from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation."  - That seems like important info

So it's ok to be a piece of shit, as long as the piece of shit thing you're doing has - - in some loosely connected way - - also been done similarly by some other person.

So thanks to the Trump Foundation, Hillary and Al Sharpton are hereby exonerated of all wrongdoing!

Thanks, Hammer!

LOL, you need to get out more.  Doctors without Borders...Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and countless others... the Commies have truly won if you think all charities are like Trump's.  JFC.  That is really God Damn bad.  You really think this is typical of charities?  Have you never been involved in a real charity?  That's actually a serious question.  I can't wrap my head around the fact that somebody really believes this level of fraud is not just typical, but defines 99% of charities.

Edit: maybe you're saying just personal foundations?  Even then, it's very rare to see that kind of fraud?  Please tell me I've misunderstood you.  Fuck

No way anybody believes Trump's 'charity' is the norm.

Of course.  This isnt even the worst case of lowering the bar. Remember Abu Ghraib?  Same fuckers were saying it was no big deal because al qaeda did worse shit.

Hell, maybe al qaeda is still their bar for behavior. Al qaeda has certainly done worse shit than Trump. Until Trump cuts off someones head with a rusty knife or flies a plane into an office building, he is practically a saint.  Leave Britney alone.

Does closing the Trump Foundation remove any legal liability exposure Trump has? Will Trump just open a new foundation a year from now to continue his modus operandi ?

Trump and his kids will be prohibited from sitting on any non profit boards going forward and the lawsuit against them will proceed.

I imagine offshore shell corps do most of the dirty work. Both then and now.  That Russian money moving toward Trump was never gonna be in a US bank.

The foundation was just about securing a quick deduction from domestic income. It will be tougher though. Cant just buy a self portrait from an anonymous Cayman Islands seller without putting it through a charity first. He will probably go to Jared now. Kushner's slush funds are still up for now. Not for long either though.

It was idiotic that he ran for President. His family could have lived as grifters and tax cheats for several more generations and nobody would have stopped it.

Do you think Trump supporters really thought otherwise? They might have.

However anybody who knew Trump from NY knew he was the rich white Playboy version of Al Sharpton.

Hammer comparing him to Sharpton is fucking perfect. He is in every way.
