In short no, but this is the biggest weekend for Longhorn football in several years. All eyes on the Horns, a chance to firmly plant the Horns in the driver's seat for the BIG XII title game, and 4* and 5* recruits lining the stands. So desperate times call for desperate measures.

TCU moneyline +225 looking like a pretty nice emotional hedge to me.

Drivers seat?  I’d agree if Baylor beats ksu also.

I fail to understand how the coaching situation at Paetow is going to effect Hicks final decision?  I know his dad is interim coach, but if his dad is dictating where his kid is going due to some bullshit going on with his job, then he is the shittiest parent ever.  Why does Paetow admin care if he is at A&M, OU or UT?

They don’t.  Nobody cares and nobody will do shit.  Aggy cheated last cycle and it seems to be working itself out without the involvement of the NCAA.

The Texas Longhorns enter Tuesday with the No. 7 recruiting class in the On3 Consensus team rankings with 20 commitments in the fold.

Steve Sarkisian and staff have 11 commitments in the On3 Consensus top 300, and 13 five-stars or four-stars headlined by On3 Consensus 5-stars Arch Manning and Derek Williams.

The most updated best class scenario is made up of 30 players, including 19 members of the On3 Consensus top 300. The group of 30 includes 23 On3 Consensus five-star or four-star prospects. All 29 will not be in the class, but a combination of the numbers likely gets Texas a second straight top five class.

SIAP, Bravion Rogers making an unofficial visit this weekend for Texas-TCU game

While his versatility is impressive, his speed is what separates Rogers as a prospect. He’s been clocked in the 4.3’s in the 40-yard dash. That speed helped him stand out at college camps this summer and create a lot of attention to his game.

(Justin Wells) Inside Scoop: Eyes on two area prospects committed, Markis Deal, newest 2024 offer, and hoops recruiting

Quote

Inside Texas takes a look at two area prospects committed to other programs, another tight end on the radar, newest 2024 offer, Markis Deal, and lots of basketball nuggets.

Jaden Greathouse, WR, Austin (Texas) Westlake – Notre Dame commit

Coming off a trip to South Bend to see Notre Dame take down Clemson, the On3 Consensus No. 139 overall prospect enjoyed his return to the land of Touchdown Jesus. But, despite the win, Greathouse is giving Texas a strong vibe that they’re not only still in it, but could potentially flip the On3 four-star. OU and Clemson still reach out as well.

As we reported on Friday, Greathouse is set to see Texas-TCU this Saturday in Austin. Greathouse already regrets missing Texas-Alabama earlier in the year. He wasn’t missing this one. The key here isn’t so much Greathouse flipping, rather him having to call Marcus Freeman and de-commit. Greathouse is loaded with integrity and wants to be pragmatic in the process.

Colton Vasek, EDGE, Austin (Texas) Westlake – Oklahoma commit

The more inept the Oklahoma Sooners look in 2022, the more the 6-foot-5.5, 225-pound On3 four-star is keeping his eyes on Texas. The Longhorn legacy continues to be the softest of OU pledges, with the Horns putting on a full-court press. Former Westlake teammates and current Horns Ethan Burke, Michael Taaffe, and Connor Robertson have helped in the recruitment of Vasek. Inside Texas fully expects Vasek to attend the TCU game Saturday, as of Sunday evening.

Markis Deal, DL, Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest

Deal will play in the first round playoff game Friday night, and still plans to make his official visit with family Saturday. When Deal watches the TCU-Texas game, he’s likely watching the two teams he ultimately chooses between with the understanding that Georgia is still in the mix. The travel for the family from Garland to Athens, (Ga.) with parents being coaches is the biggest hurdle for the Bulldogs. There is definitely a close-to-home preference. Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis has been the most consistent position coach throughout Deal’s recruitment.

Junior college defensive tackles

If Texas hosts a junior college defensive tackle on an official visit this weekend, chances are growing it could be Elijah Davis (Wagener, S.C./East Mississippi C.C.) over Derick Hunter (Fort Myers, Fla./Hinds C.C.). Davis is a South Carolina vs. Tennessee battle with Texas working diligently to make up ground.

Connor Stroh, Frisco (Texas) Wakeland – Texas commit

While many Texas commitments didn’t see most of the UT-KSU game on Saturday night, the big country o-line pledge Stroh watched from start to finish. “Everything,” about what Stroh enjoyed about the game. “Good teams figure out how to win. OL looked ready. Big road win against a ranked team.  What is not to like?”

Ka’Morreun Pimpton, TE, Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley – Vanderbilt commit

Inside Texas caught up with the 6-foot-6, 220-pounder Sunday. Texas did invite Pimpton to the TCU game this weekend. The issue for the Longhorns is they haven’t offered yet. If they do, Texas likely jumps to the top of the list. Pimpton made an official visit to Utah late last month, and has LSU, Iowa and a number of others in hot pursuit. If Texas is going to offer the senior riser, it will likely be early next week.

Eli Bowen, CB, Denton Guyer – 2024

Younger brother of On3 Consensus five-star and Notre Dame pledge, Peyton Bowen, the younger corner is slightly more open to the recruiting process. Eli Bowen holds double-digit offers including Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame. At 5-foot-9, 165 pounds, don’t let the small stature deter you from the fact he’s a ball-hawk. Catching up with sources close to Bowen, we’re told he’s looking for the best program and fit at the next level. Notre Dame wants him, but also wants to keep Peyton.

For Eli, he’d love nothing more than playing with his older brother in college. But he understands it’s a business and wants to experience taking visits and giving every school a legitimate shot. Two keys here: Texas was late on Peyton Bowen and didn’t want to make the same mistake with Eli. And the younger sibling might actually want to stay closer to home. I anticipate Eli making an unofficial to Austin after the season, probably around Junior Day season in January-February.

Hoops recruiting:

Just a few hours until On3 Consensus 4-star guard Andrej Stojakovic (Carmichael, Calif./Jesuit) makes his announcement with Stanford, Texas, UCLA and Oregon the finalists. IT has heard for a few weeks that Stanford or Texas is the most likely decision at the end of the day. UCLA has fought hard to gain ground again.

On IT’s end, there just hasn’t been enough real serious chatter in the last 48-72 hours to lead us down the path of UCLA being the pick. IT continues to believe Andrej likes the combination of basketball, academics, and the city of Austin best among his choices. The Longhorns major hurdle in this recruitment is the mom didn’t make the Texas official visit. That certainly helps Stanford’s cause when combined with proximity. Peja has signed off on Andrej’s choice from what we hear. That means any of Stanford, Texas or UCLA.

Texas has been quietly trending with senior riser big man Cedric Lath (Henderson, NV./Liberty). The Longhorns are working to bat out Houston, who has been on the 6-foot-9, 260-pounder the longest. There is zero doubt that Lath’s best official visit was to Texas last week.

Correct. I'm not sure what Bill is smoking in Lake Travis.

I am still trying to figure out what happened. This is crazy. It is like waking up in the morning and seeing a Koenigsegg in your garage and Gal Gadot's garage under the covers.

It's pretty insane the funnel effect that is happening. I'm trying to understand why it seems like all of a sudden the talent is being funneled like it is within the state. Obviously aggie and oklahoma sucking helps that but it's pretty insane. Maybe word got out we back up?
