Unless things have changed in the past ten years, HS athletes and their families are on their own when it comes to medical expenses and treatment. Perhaps a HS program has a partner physician locally that consults at a discount or something but that’s about it. Even that can be valuable if it’s a good doctor though.

I’m sure a major D1 football prospect has the inside track to good care through relationships with college coaches, and through that booster connections.

With Gullette, I can't believe his tiny school has anything of the sort.

So, does he wait for surgery until after committing, or risk getting a shitty knee surgeon?

Evan Stewart finishing his college career at ATM is less likely than Ketch running an ultra marathon.

The other big thing going on with ATM in this cycle is that they are being attacked on all sides. Saban, Kiffin, Leach, Smart, these guys are getting downright petty. Pittman, Sarkisian, Gundy, Franklin, Napier, Venables, Dykes, Kelly, and Heupel necessarily have to prioritize shitting on ATM right now. And, as we all know, ATM gives its opponents a lot of fodder to work with when it comes to picking on them and pointing out their flaws.

This part of huge.  Aggy is shitting all over the sandox and pissing everyone off.  They like to chant SEC, SEC, etc., but when the rest of the SEC is tired of your shit it rings hollow and they actively undermining the ags at every opportunity.

Same experience I had as well. Our HS had a team doc that came to games and would refer you out to a specialist but was up to you and on your insurance.

I am sure college coaches are giving him referrals if he asks/needs one.

I don't think there is any way they pause on Gullette. He will be over a year removed from the injury by the time he hits campus and he is the best, or close to the best, athlete at the position in the class.

i'd still think they would go all in on Gullette, modern sports medicine has shown players bouncing back from knee injuries all the time now.  And like you have posted before, they can give a shit with numbers with the new rules in place.

2) How does ACL surgery work for somebody like Gullette? Does he just find a knee surgeon somewhere near Melissa,TX ? Does he ask the colleges recruiting him to make a recommendation? Who pays for the surgery? Does UIL have some sort of insurance that covers kids at all schools?

Don't make too much of what I said about Gullette. I think any player with a fresh and major injury is going to merit some additional scrutiny from any staff, but it doesn't mean anyone is backing off or something. Now, if the dude winds up being reported with dropfoot or something, things change.

I mean, as it is for anyone in Marlin and towns like it, they’re going to have to drive to a bigger city - at least Waco or BCS, if not Austin, DFW, or Houston, to see a specialist. In that sense it’s not a unique situation.

Decent chance the HS coach at least has an orthopedic doctor they typically point the family to, and beyond that, I’m sure a blue chip football prospect can at the very least get recommendations from college staffs.

At this point it's no fucking secret ATM is despised in their conference and beyond.  Any of them taking this for a conspiracy are simply falling prey to the most aggy attitude of all, complete lack of self awareness.  I'm hoping their rough start to this cycle creates an impulse to double down on ridiculous promises in an attempt to catch up.  The grave is never deep enough

aggy had something of a first mover advantage last recruiting cycle over the other teams.  Now that everyone has caught up, they're back to being relegated to the tier they belong in and it's freaking then out

Most of their fans are still basking in the maroon glow of beating Bama. But I'm guessing the 2 percenters will eventually realize (if they haven't already) that it was the worst thing that could happen to them. It got the fanbase expecting a "natty," and Jimbo and his henchmen continued to move forward with an unsustainable plan. Sure, it was pretty much going to happen anyway, but I think the euphoria over that win fully solidified their rationalization of it all.

Chalk it up as gossip at the moment, but something for us to consider as we try to read the tea leaves during this cycle. I don't think it matters in terms of player exits impacting Texas, but it's real on the recruiting front if the rumors have teeth.

One of the big things Sarkisian and Davis and company knew they were going to have to counter in this cycle was ATM taking a constant, heaving dump on UT recruiting efforts. Anyone complaining about the Patterson negative recruiting issues while he was at TCU was perfectly justified in doing so and correct. The ATM shit dwarfs that and, luckily, a lot of it is provably false if the recruits and parents and handlers would just listen for a minute. Current players starting to grumble to recruits about different things, money included, helps make that happen.

The other big thing going on with ATM in this cycle is that they are being attacked on all sides. Saban, Kiffin, Leach, Smart, these guys are getting downright petty. This is one moment in time in which the paranoia of aggies following this stuff and decrying "conspiracy!!" is fully validated.

Marlin to the Carrell Clinic is about a two hour drive.

When I was having my shoulder worked on at Carrell there were kids from BFE programs around the country in there.

I just googled it when I was looking for directions to Silsbee and apparently there is some podunk hospital in Temple 45 minutes away. Something and White? I don't remember the name.

Baylor Scott and White is Texas’ largest health system with over 50 hospitals. Around top ten largest nonprofit systems in the nation.

Add taking the lead with Hill and Shelby, and we have the potential to close 100% of our official visitors from a single weekend.

I believe that would be 14/14.  That's got to be some sort of record.

These are the exact kind of situations where some family or malcontent recruit who was promised something that they didn't get goes to the NCAA or starts complaining in more public forums that can't be ignored.

Why would a recruit from Marlin, who’s apparently moving to Teague, go to Melissa for health care?

BSW Hillcrest 25 minutes from Marlin in Waco has a really strong Ortho group at SW Sports, BSW Temple has some great specialists (including a dude who people come from all over the world to see for replacement) 35 minutes away. And former trainers associated with both those groups have relationships with all the podunk schools in the area to help expedite care, especially when a blue chip kid is injured. Or, Gullette could go to Dallas as previously noted. Whatever the case, he will be fully evaluated by very capable professionals and the choice whether to have surgery will be made (I still haven’t heard anything beyond Gerry Hamilton’s claim it happened in a pickup basketball game).

Regarding aggy and promises made, most people’s accounts look quite a bit shittier these days after the first half of the year, so it wouldn’t be surprising to learn some commitments to bags have been rescinded from the legion of insurance salesmen and Edward Jones pumpers. And that thumb drive of crypto? Fuggedaboutit.

I know we are all excited about the possibility of A&M running out of money but CTJ has a history of confidently asserting positions that don’t warrant that level of confidence. Him explicitly stating it’s a rumor tells me it’s the weakest information I could imagine. Plus we know aggy would sell their momma to spite us and keep recruits.

3) ATM money isn’t clearing as advertised, maybe. That has ramifications forward and backwards.

This is the second time I've seen this referenced - first was either in the aggy thread here or on r/cfb a day or so ago.

So I think it's safe to say there's some smoke here.

Exactly. No longer easy living for aggy's legions of $30K millionaires.

I think it is more expectations. They threw money at the 2022 class and set prices that were not reasonable long-term. They can not continue to spend like that and those 22 comps are beign used against A&M, even if other people are not paying it.

Almost exactly what those fucking dumbasses did with coaching raises and extensions.  Not a surprise they overextended themselves because they did not fucking understand the game.  That is sort of Aggieness in a nutshell isn't it?

I'm wrong plenty and shit that I hear can change because this is the real world.

That considered, I've been more right on ATM and NIL than anyone on the Internet since January of 2021. Big, mockable and ridiculous statement? Sure, but that shit can be tracked in posts on this board coupled with real world results for the last cycle and this cycle. There might be some shit to nitpick or a whiff here or there on a player during that period, but at a macro level, your assertion is incorrect. It's almost like I'm in the room on some of this stuff at this point, particularly how NIL is unfolding for Texas and its rivals. It's weird.

Is this a recent development or is there a level of confidence to reveal it now?
