I guess the President isn't gonna watch many sports since every game is gonna be over during the national anthem.

Maybe he can use some of that time to work on racial inequality and injustice in this country. LOLOLOL

This is one of his more annoying practices.  Someone mentioned it earlier, but it's a chronological oddity.  2 weeks from everything!

It's juuuuust enough time for nearly everyone to forget what he talked about or did, and to move on to the next thing.

Pretty sure the U.S. Census doesn't ask your immigration status? Dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

No, you're correct. It sounds like, if elected, he might try some other weird shit, which would be ripe for abuse, to keep people from being counted.

From the Reuters article cited in that tweet:

Citizens-only voting districts are viewed as potentially legal for state-level voting districts, but the U.S. Constitution explicitly says congressional apportionment should be based on the “whole number of persons” in each state. Multiple federal laws have reinforced that reading, and the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld that interpretation.

“All of this makes Trump’s position outrageous,” said Joshua Geltzer, a constitutional law expert and professor at Georgetown Law, adding that the move will almost certainly be met with litigation.

Another question is how the Trump administration would acquire data on undocumented immigrants. The 2020 U.S. Census does not ask respondents whether they are citizens, legal or otherwise.

In theory, officials could determine citizenship data through such administrative records as drivers’ license databases, along with citizenship estimates gathered in other Census Bureau surveys. But that data is incomplete, and demographers and immigration advocacy groups have argued they are unreliable.

Dear leader will ‘assume’ all urban areas are made up of 75% illegals and throw out 75% of the votes from horrible liberal democratic cities

Slaves, who were considered property and had no rights, were counted as 3/5 of a person.

If this EO were to come true, Illegal immigrants would be considered less of a person than a slave.

Fun times.

Someone should float illegals counting as 3/5’s. He would take the bait and expect all kinds of adulation.

His silent majority is the millions of non whites that don’t vote. Stuff like this will push more and more to go register and vote

 Good short read

Pretty much sums it up.

You could dangle the 3/5ths bait in front of him and his uneducated ass would just think “they got a terrible deal.  I could negotiate a deal twice that good.  They’d count as 6/5ths.”

That was me, you thieving bastard!  I don't know how to tweet a celebrity but if somebody could get a clip of all Trump's two week promises, and then have Clooney (as he is today) make a clip of him saying "...oddity...two weeks from everything!"  Or something, I think it would be pleasant.
Also, I'm only half joking when I say I think this "2-week plan" thing came from a conversation the President had with Eric.  Eric claimed he was really good at 'Fortnight' and would soon have it all solved and defeated.  Trump took that to mean, he had solved the two-week plan conundrum.  So I can see Trump walking through the residence, peaks into a room, and there's Eric playing "Fortnight", President asks him if he has it all solved yet (referring to Covid-19 and the economy and law & order in the cities), Eric takes off his headset completely oblivious to what his dad said, gives him an A-OK sign, and says, "Almost done dad!"  Trump smiles and walks down to the Oval to tell his staff the great news.

Trump has no idea about a video game called “fortnight” or what a fortnights means. Fortnight to him nighttime on a military base. As in, the Air Force One will land at Andrews in a fortnight under the cover of darkness and without reporters taking pictures of him being helped down the stairs by a Marine.

It's almost like he wants to lose

What's fascinating regarding this particular individual's psychosis is that what the rest of us think would be most important -- a winning election strategy -- is not actually what's important to him.

A winning election strategy is to have 50%+1 who find you preferable to the other candidate.  That's it.  Not a one of them even needs to LIKE you; they just need to prefer you to the alternative.

But that's not what Trump wants.  Trump wants -- he NEEDS -- the people who support him to not just support him, but adore him.  Adore and worship.   When he said he could shoot a man on Fifth Ave and not lose supporters, he wasn't commenting on how much support he has.  He was commenting on what's really important to him -- the fact that the supporters he DOES have would do whatever he tells them to do, and will worship him like a god.

So, he's pursuing a strategy that ensures that the folks who DO support him will not just merely support him -- they will worship and adore him as a god.  If that turns out to be less than 50%, he's not even considering.  That's not how he measures support.  He doesn't measure or value support by volume; he only values it based on degree.

So Trump and his supporters believe we were biologically attacked by a virus from an evil lab in China, but that doesn't rise to the level of necessitating the use of the NDAA?  Got it.

Maybe some other chemical weapons attack will come along and we can use that credit card our parents gave us for emergencies only.

very true.  and the best part is that he wouldn't want anything to do with his base in "real life."  anyone think those mouth breathers would be welcome at mar-a-lago or any of his clubs?  fuck no.  for the rest of his life the only people that will want to be in the same room as him are people he despises.

I think of the scene in the season 2 premiere of "Succession" with Kendal and Sandy Logan/Stewie

"But Trump wanting to lose will mean an undermining of our elections in the macro sense, tens of millions of his most adamant supporters becoming untethered from mainstream American society, mass shootings, distrust in the Executive branch for the next 8 years, a fractured GOP, Trump pulling strings from behind the media scenes for a decade, his children continuing to use America as a piggy bank, and the continued sunlight exposure of everything rotten and immoral on the underbelly of this great nation.  That's what'll happen."

Good...let's move ahead with that process then, shall we?

Also, Trump won in 2016 doing it his way. He didn't listen to his advisors then either. It was the 100% the Trump show, and enough people bought it to get him a victory.

Luckily he's a complete moron and running the same campaign strategy again.

This is a good post with great insight.

I'll only add that, well, you know what? No. Our old friend Denny Green said it best. Trump is who we thought he was. If you want to crown him? Crown his ass. But he is who we think he is. And we'd better not let him off the hook.

Shit like this EO is just him throwing a bone to his base. I don't think the admin is all that concerned with the enforceability.
