Same here.  Didn’t have the guts to join in, and thought very carefully about what I’d post the first time on ShaggyBevo…was actually a little relieved when I got pos rep.  You assholes are scary to a non-UT outsider.

Which is why it cracks me up when ‘new’ accounts come in all cock strong into the most divisive threads acting like they’ve been around for years.  Either long time lurker or sock.

Hah.  Reminds me of my first trading of barbs with North Loop when I first joined.  Fortunately I had the benefit of @Ghost of LL's advice at the time.

Already said this but I’ve had 3 unmasked, lengthy close contacts with infected people. Nothing. I think the booster has helped me out.

Ive been having allergy symptoms and some headaches, but not going to burn one of my last two tests because they are 100% unavailable right now. Will see what Cares says.

We're pretty much vaxxed with maybe two exceptions.  But we're having our annual partner dinner tonight.  It's outdoors, but we're all tempting fate.  The hide-and-seek championship may be all on you.

I'll play.  I had to go to a packed funeral in Troup, Texas yesterday (my first and last trip there, hopefully).  Funeral was in a close quarters Methodist church.  I doubled up on the mask, but I only counted four others in attendance in the entire joint who were doing the same, for all the good may do (It's still real to me dammit).  I may need to buy a lottery ticket this weekend if I'm not flat on my back (or prone) by then.

I'm just here to say that we called it "Tackle the man with the ball"... yes, even in the 80s.

We (80s) shortened it to "Tackle the Man," as a concession to the shortness of human life.  The "with the football" part seemed fairly obvious, or so we thought until some idiot just started tackling people.  After that, we went with "Tackle the Man with the Football and only the Man with the Football, you got that Rudy."

Does anyone remember playing Indian dodge ball? It was dodge ball with bowling pins along each baseline you had to knock down. I never understood what Indians had to do with bowling pins, until the PE teacher said you needed to hit your opponent so hard you left a dot on their forehead.

Oh, the 70's. Geez...

I'd just like to give a shoutout to all the unvaxxed snowflakes who are too scared to get vaccinated during a pandemic. You're a big the reason this shit is still around.

I’d reword this to salute the unvaccinated snowflakes who go on and on about how they don’t need it, or are standing up against tyranny, or whatever, then abandon their principles and run to a hospital to benefit from modern medicine when they get a bad case of COVID. They’re the reason hospitals are overloaded, which in turn is the root of this virus’s impact on society. I wish they’d put their money where their mouths are and stay the fuck away from the hospital.

Our elementary school P.E. teacher stopped us one day and said, "Never call it 'Smear the Queer'...that's mean!"

We asked him what we should call it, and steel-blue eyed, blond-haired Erik Kalmbach in the most thinly veiled German-as-English accent I've ever heard to this day said, "You shall call it 'Bombardment'!"  Turns out that's another name for dodgeball, but coming from a guy who was obviously the son of a Nazi Luftwaffe Colonel, it always felt even worse than saying "Smear the Queer"

Now the kids are calling it Smear the LGTBQ2S+.

My son just told me he’s got two non-binary friends at school. They know about our family.  I’m apparently some kinda bad ass cool idol sorta figure. It ain’t smear the alphabet mafia anymore it’s smear the cisgender non-ally.

I watched a documentary on that guy, “Barry”. He was actually a pretty cool guy, spent most all of the money he made feeding the homeless. Died of a heart attack in late 40’s.  Did the porn shoot to make ends meet after giving his money away to the poor.   Carry on.

My youngest sister is a nurse in Austin (fyi she is hideous looking) and has worked with Covid patients since they beginning.  She finally tested positive for Covid this week. Contracted at the hospital? Who knows but she gave it a good run.

She described her symptoms as bad allergies and she gets 5 days off now.
