Our doctor and the rest of her practice in Austin already shut down.  She said she just can't serve her patients with this shit.  They're getting into research instead.

“Technically, they’re not criminalizing people driving in Washington state with a minor. The crime is the time that someone is driving the minor in Idaho,” said David Cohen, a law professor at Philadelphia’s Drexel University whose work focuses on constitutional law and abortion policy.

oh, well then...buy her a bus ticket to the state line and pick her up there.

we're always talking about Texas and Florida as those are the most colorful and grab most of the headlines, their leaders seek out the limelight...but man Idaho seems to be on a whole other level. i'm not sure i'd even want to drive through that fucking state. yikes.😟

I saw that article earlier.  Republicans are idiots.  Good luck getting any talented people to move to these states.

That's their goal.  Republicans don't actually give a shit about abortion.  They want to punish women, particularly poor women.   They don't want them to have access to quality healthcare, be it for abortion, pregnancy, oncology, anything.   They want to gut healthcare.  Just look at the right's vilification of medical professionals and science over the last few years as proof.  They want to drive talented people out.

Idaho merely beat us to the punch - Texas legislators are working on criminalizing traveling to another state for an abortion as well, which would require the government to get into women's lives.  You know, because small government.

And they are working on forcing Texas internet service providers to block websites that discuss or provide abortion information.  You know, because free speech.

Idaho law already allows for the family of a rapist to sue a woman for aborting his spawn.

Their draconian abortion laws are being challenged but the Idaho Supreme Court ruled that they can be enforced while the legal process plays out.

So now judges decide what drugs can be approved? What was that about activist judges? Could have sworn conservatives screamed about it for decades

Wait until @Cheeseweasel hears about this. Why just yesterday he proudly exclaimed that the "hill he chooses to die on" is "pushing back on government regulations."

Sounds like this sets the precedence to ban all drugs that have a death rate of 5+ per million. So, 95% of all prescription and over the counter drugs are banned. FAFO.

Ozempic should be banned under these new guidelines.  Not approved for non diabetics.

Do that and watch everyone lose their shit.

The whole premise that the plaintiffs have standing is ludicrous to me.

And from the portion I read on standing, Kaczmaryk says (1) there's no conflict of interest here like there would be if, say, a woman sues her "abortionist" (he repeatedly uses the term abortionist, which I guess Alito used too). And (2) Evidence shows women don't have a close, or even any, doctor-patient relationship with their abortionist, so these plaintiffs are certainly closer to the issue than that. Because plaintiffs provide post-abortion care -- obviously a more solid doctor-patient relationship. Absolute batshit.

4 times as many people die from using Viagra than this abortion drug. It’s time for limp dicks to have their time in the sun.

There is virtually zero chance that some Federalist Society rapture-fantasizing theocratic sociopath won't try to do this with vaccines if this ruling stands.

This ruling is not going to stand. If it does it will be rightfully ignored by the FDA and the DOJ. Women’s reproductive rights will be the reef the Republican Party ship breaks apart on

Nope. Women will be ground to dust, just like every other group that is not “rich white men,” who also happen to be the Chosen Ones to carry the banner of modern fundagelical Christianity.
You seem to still be living in a world where “majorities” and “votes” matter. Nope. See extreme gerrymandering (Tennessee). See fascist theocratic courts undoing decades of law because fundamentalist Jesus says so.
Government and the rule of law is nothing but a social agreement. And when one (large and powerful) group opts out of that agreement, the agreement is dead. Your point is like saying of a party that repeatedly breaches a contract “but they can’t do the next thing, because that would breach the contract.” They don’t care about the contract. You look silly standing there and pointing to it as they go about their plan not giving the tiniest of shits about that contract.
