Have you ever seen Wescott and satya in the same room at the same time?

No, but if I did I'm sure they would be scissoring feverishly to full game videos from the Charlie Strong era screaming "The Texas Brand is dead!" and "Texas A&M runs this State!"

Some of y'all are so confident on Johnson. I, for one, would feel much better if he'd go ahead and pull the trigger if that's the case.

This is where I am. Can see KKL dropping off a mega sack of IOU's to avoid being completely embarrassed and froze out.  My staya side is showing this AM.

eta: fuck that.  We are getting LJ and are about to wreck shit.  Also, fuck you Blake.

Anything can happen in recruiting but TFB/IT have been hinting at a commitment, the last 8 rivals forecast predictions are to Texas, and he's been Fonged to Texas. People are "confident" because that's where all the evidence is pointing.

Even OU mods had Wheaton at 50/50 with Texas just a few days ago. So Texas not being in the top 3 for Wheaton certainly seems to back up the idea that Wheaton believes LJ is headed to Texas. How does Texas go from a coin flip with Wheaton to not even being in the top 3 in a matter of days?

Maybe things shift and LJ ends up somewhere else but the reason people are confident is because all the evidence points that way.

Well sure, but that was before the paradigm shift of all paradigm shifts that was the Sooner Summit. You may as well split all recruiting intel into pre-Summit and post-Summit a la BC/AD. Total game changer. Nothing like it has ever- nor will ever be seen again

I’m almost 100% certain everyone on this thread would feel better if he committed. You’re not exactly blazing your own path here.

Didn't work for Omeire. Plus, it's known that Houston area recruits feed the aggy 9.95ers complete bullshit so they will leave them alone.

That won't move Bowman at all into 5 star, it keeps him on the edge. I'm not sure where Sanders was before, but that could bump him down in the composite and potentially out of 5 star territory.

Texas commits

- Ibraheem moved up 73 spots

- the others were flat or dropped 4 - 5 spots

- Bowman was one of the ten named as closest to a 5th star (" ATH Billy Bowman — Like Ryan, Bowman can play in many places and he’s a special prospect who just has to overcome some size issues. But we’ve had smaller defensive backs as five-stars so you never know.")

A&M commits (just the ones among the biggest movers - they have 3)

- Harmon - up 103 spots

- Daniels - up 107

- Fatheree - up 131

Two flawed OU leans (they've got great potential, but they're not your usual 5-star demigods) over everyone else is just perfect Rivals. Wow.

That Foster ranking is just absurd. Usually you actually have to be good at football at the HS level to get ranked a 5 star, let alone #9 in the whole fucking country.  The Wheaton ranking is also pretty ridiculous. He's a really good RB with gamebreaking speed, but not #7 in the country by any means. Latrell McCuthin at 68. lol.

Even with their updated rankings, they still have guys like Terrence Cooks and Albert Regis as middling 3 stars.  Guess Fat Ketch just needs a few more years to watch one of the best programs in the state located in the largest metro area in the state so he can properly evaluate Cooks. Very prudent of him and Rivals to exercise caution to make sure they don't overrate a guy like Cooks. You really have to respect their evaluation process.

While the Foster ranking is laughable, let's not ignore the fact Fatheree continues to rise (100+ today, wtf?) while Conner keeps dropping.

Hell, at the Rivals Houston camp Conner received an invite to the 5* Challenge along with Jackson and Foster, but no Fatheree.

Roach notes

—Camar Wheaton dropped a top three today consisting of Oklahoma, LSU and Alabama. It was originally supposed to be a top two, but I guess things changed at the last minute. As I alluded to yesterday, Texas will not be involved. Wheaton always had a strong relationship with Stan Drayton, and he was very close to committing to Texas this time last year. That said, his relationship with Lincoln Riley and the way he felt he could excel in the OU offense was also strong. I asked a source near Wheaton why Texas didn’t make the final cut and was told that Wheaton felt he needed to get one of either Oklahoma or Texas off of his plate. This source went on to say that in the last few months the recruitment on both sides of the Red River has been less about those schools and more about what the other can’t do for him. The mudslinging became tiresome and Wheaton felt that one school needed to be eliminated. He was also very in-tune with the buzz surrounding Texas and LJ Johnson. Oklahoma entered the summer a heavy favorite, and while Texas surged at times and drew near, they could never get over the hump. I don’t believe Wheaton has given a silent to anyone, but I believe his visit to the Sooner Summit pushed Oklahoma over the edge. People near Wheaton are pulling him a few different ways, and I think he got tired of the constant back and forth. Alabama has always been a dark horse, but I think Oklahoma is the likely destination.

—I stopped by DeSoto to see the talent on hand for the Eagles this year. I’ll talk a bit more about the talent I saw later tonight, but I did get the opportunity to talk with Shemar Turner. Fresh off a visit to Austin, Turner was spotted in Texas shorts and gloves during practice. In fact, he started to run off the field when he saw me taking pictures, but we laughed about it afterward. Turner is closing in on a decision sooner than he imagined with no official visits available, and he wants to go see the campuses he’s considering again. It’s likely he will visit Texas A&M next week, and he’d like to make it to Alabama, LSU and Georgia if possible. As I mentioned, Turner is starting to tighten his circle. He’s getting extremely tired of the recruiting process, and we didn’t even go on the record for an interview because I could see how much the media attention is taking a toll on him. It sounds like it’s still a battle between Texas and Texas A&M right now that will come down to the very end.

—Four-star 2022 Port Arthur Memorial CB Jaylon Guilbeau announced he will make a decision soon. The teammate of 2021 Texas commit Jordon Thomas has long been high on Texas, and I’ve had a Crystal Ball pick in for him since the spring to land in Austin. I was hearing for the last month or two that things were heating up with him and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him commit soon. In checking around today, I haven’t heard anything that would make me change my pick from Texas.
