Rabbit ears + ESPN Unlimited/Fox One bundle.

$40/mo for ~90% of your sports needs at this time of the year.

If BIG/Notre Dame/NBA National games, are your thing suck it up and get a Peacock monthly subscription for the next two months and then hit the promo they’ll roll out around January for an annual subscription for ~$30 when they have their select NFL playoff game.

That just leaves Paramount (CBS) and Warner Bros (TNT/TBS/USA).

I don’t have a good answer for CBS (I use rabbit ears).

For Warner Bros, I’m married to a legacy AT&T cell phone plan that includes HBO Max (and all of the Warner Bros programming) at no extra cost.

Or Bluetooth Craig and Roger on the varsity app

the sky cam view (like watching from the end zone) gets a little stale after a bit.

PSA: watching illegallu streamed material is not illegal. For the streamers, yes; for you, no.

As an advertiser, I'm perfectly happy for potential customers to see my ads without paying the fuckers I already paid to run the ad.

Looking at Sling, the only package where you can get a day pass is Orange and ABC is not listed. So Sling Day Pass not an option?

just a reminder for folks looking at Sling- even if you bought both packages, and despite the pretty misleading advertising saying otherwise, you are only allowed to have ONE instance of any of the ESPN family of channels being streamed on a single TV/ laptop/ ipad. etc. Thats OG, 2, U, news, SEC network

Sling is perfect if you are just going to watch the UT game and thats it. but you cannot watch multiple ESPN games

I ran into that issue 2 years ago when spectrum fucked everyone the day before the season started and I went with  Blue and Orange Sling (with up to 3 channels allowed to be viewed) because I needed LHN... and only later discovered that fun little issue of a single instance of any 1 ESPN channel only being avail on 1 viewing platform.  TV, Cell, computer, whatever.

What's going on here, we can't use Youtube TV anymore to watch the Longhorns? Literally the only use case I have for paying $90/month is Longhorns and sometimes other SEC games.

I mean I get it. They are holding the line on DIS so that $90 doesn't go to $120.

If you have the Walmart + subscription then Paramount is included.

I have a Disney + Hulu bundle. Can I watch ESPN on Hulu now? If so, sweet, saved $90.

There is zero chance this will not be resolved before tomorrow.

Texas is top five in viewership and the Vanderbilt story is huge.

Then Florida and Georgia.

Way too much money lost without a settlement.

The answer to all of your questions is always money.

That is what I have (+YTTV). From what I can tell, you would have to upgrade that to the Disney+Hulu+ESPN Unlimited bundle to watch the game.

We pay $12.99 for Disney + Hulu. I think it is $29.99 for Disney+Hulu+ESPN Unlimited.

Do I think it's worth $17 to watch the game (and potentially future games if YTTV issue not resolved)? Guess I'll find out my true level of interest sometime before 11AM tomorrow.

pretty sure this is how i see it.  i have very little intrest is subscribing to espn's stand alone app.  it's $30/mo now, but its obvious their longterm play is to eliminiate any potential 3rd parties and then jack up the price.

that being said, i have little use for YouTube TV if it isn't going to include the ESPN channels.

Hoping this stands true, just in case I'll have the 5 day directv stream free preview ready to go

This is the correct answer.

And another reason this will be resolved before tomorrow.

This is the big problem for me.

So it boils down to pay $30 to watch football on ESPN or $90+ to watch football on YT, which is an easy solution.

The thing about ESPN is their app sucks.

Better than nothing.  I always got that little skinny kid from Malaysia that'll hook up the free YouTube stream as a backup

The worst part is that it has always sucked and they apparently have zero interest in fixing it.  I shouldn't have to sign out of Fubo and then sign back in every time I want to watch ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Sorry to tell you, you’re not avoiding ads by paying for ESPN unlimited. No one should give another dime to ESPN. Use the link I gave and watch for free. No popups and clean viewing experience.

I will gladly pay $200 a month for the programming of my choosing before I go get bunny ears or an old-school antenna.

I still have ptsd from having to deal with those throughout my childhood.

PS Vue was a great option originally when I cut the cable years ago but then chose YTTV once they were gone for the unlimited DVR and the ability to have 5 simultaneous streams which you don’t get with the other services (unless something has changed in the past year).  I can get whatever I want via other services but for the technology challenged Mrs. G, YTTV was always the easiest option which makes my life easier. The costs of YTTV have almost doubled in the past 4-5 years and with kiddos off to college and this whole shitshow, may need to look at another service for momma… DVR is the biggest issue I have as I hate watching anything live so I can skip past the commercials…

Not to change the subject but never ever ever ever ever get rid of this plan! I had it and changed it thinking I was getting a better deal since I only buy a new phone every 5 years and it’s one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. Something about the way the plan is structured gives you first class priority on the network. I changed it to a different unlimited plan and my service sucks dick now in certain areas. I never understood why people would bitch about the AT&T network because it always worked stellar for me until I changed my plan and now it’s one of my biggest regrets ever.

We all are going to have to think differently about this situation because the future is going to get way way worse.

The US has multiple market dominant companies, and consolidation is continuing, especially in the media space. Tome Warner will soon get scooped up. The end game here in 24-36 months is market control so deep that consumers are raped of every possible dollar they have. ESPN and Fox have a duopoly over college football and we will all be paying out the ass for their content.

We’ve already been modifying our behaviors to slowly wean ourselves off sports. I can afford $100-400 per month for TV, but I just don’t want to pay that. Eff it.  We are done on the NFL. College football remains as the one sport we are still struggling to care less about, but we are preparing.

I also have YTTV just to watch sports, I renew in the fall for College Football and drop in January. Dumb question here - I understand the many options for pirating live games, are there any site that let you watch recorded games? I have a commitment tomorrow morning (west coast) so was going to watch the Texas game when I got home. Obviously not an option on YTTV now, am I just screwed for watching the game?

I've actually used Youtube to do that a couple times this season.  Just google "Texas vs Vanderbilt" and see what you get.

Don't we have multiple regulatory bodies like the SEC and FCC and CFPB that are supposed to make sure the consumer is protected from unfair and anti-competitive practi---  ahahahaah  sorry i couldn't go any farther and keep a straight face.

I'd feel bad for poor yttv being at the mercy of big bad Disney, but yttv is google which is worse or at the very least as much of a monopolist as Disney and should be brroken apart. Fuck 'em both. I have yttv but I'll gladly cancel and find a stream.

Consumer protections get in the way of billionaires making billions. Lets just let as much consolidation as possible take place. Seems to be working out

I just paid my monthly on 10/25, and when I just went to cancel, I saw no way to request a refund. Do you have Sundar's cell#, how the hell did you get a refund?

If you buy a new TV from BestBuy, they'll give you a free thirty day trial to Fubo TV, who has all the ESPN, SEC, etc. sports channels.

Problem solved.

You need a new big screen. Just do it!

You might be right. Directv Stream doesn’t have a native LG app which is stupid. Have one Apple TV and I think I have a Roku or two somewhere, but switching to that just for tv is dumb. Literally every other streaming service has an app for LG.

I don’t want to give a signup to ESPN Ultimate or Fubo, because I don’t want to reward Disney’s hardline approach with Google with increased signup numbers so their stock price goes up.
