What can you actually watch on ESPN “select”

Hoping they start showing TCU's Rifle Team.

Only chance for a title until we get to Beach Volleyball and Men's Tennis.

I think younger the 30 for 30 series if you are into sports docs. Plus the tier 3 stuff from some conferences.

Right. Never said it didn’t have value. Just describing the content. Same as it ever was, just a different name.

First week all year the big 10 had the best games.

Another downside to DirecTV: it’s not smart enough to record a whole game when it runs long. Flipped over to see the Auburn touchdown and it’s no longer recording so I couldn’t rewind.

Without Texas playing this weekend I've been just watching whatever gets served up on Fox and CBS.  YTTV  got it's lead due to being a better product and it sucks that Disney is trying to force us into their inferior options.  I've tried every service in the past with free trials and nothing was better than YTTV. Google annoys me in other ways like limiting my youtube premium to just people in my household when I pay for 6 streams and other such bullshit but YTTV is the best live TV option.  Will being doing sling day pass next weekend if this doesn't get resolved.

Following this theory tonight I get Arkansa/Mich State, Navy/ND, or Air Force / SJSU, instead of you know, maybe, LSU Alabama.

Thanks cunts.

I chose Star Wars.

You can set overlap, although manually. (if it's a pass, you can set it once for the pass and not every game.)

UI sucks ass? how? Hulu takes 4 clicks to get back to the guide. the guide starts at the very top. no multiview, fubo is instant, customizable guide, easy to maneuver around.

fast forwarding does suck, ill give you that. but I dont miss YTTV at all with fubo.

I should have just said the fast forwarding sucks rather than lumping that in with 'UI'.  I agree the Fubo UI is better than Hulu's.

Fubo is Disney. Fuck them. If my free trial scheme quits working I'll pay for sling day passes. Disney isn't getting another dollar from me.

I don't feel sorry for Google. Fuck them,  too. But they offer the best product. It isn't even close.

I decided to take the length and ponied up for espn. It has multiview but you cant customize it like yttv. Its an inferior product by a long shot.

I'm going to piracy. Its extra effort but it feels good to steal from the cunts.

Piracy for live events is hard. If you want help setting something up for shows, movies or anything else let me know.

What do you mean you can’t customize multi view?

Yeah at some point I gave up, turned on Craig Way and found a gamecast showing down/distance/detailed play outcomes that was updating in sync with his call.

But Sling day will get me through the rest of the season.

I wonder if they will get a little more lax in their enforcement of this if they don't reach a deal.

In a bid to appease disgruntled customers, YouTube will begin issuing eligible YouTube TV customers a $20 credit starting on Sunday, Nov. 9, if there is still no deal with Disney to restore the channels. YouTube will send YouTube TV subscribers an email with instructions on how to apply the one-time $20 credit to their next billing statement. All credits will be issued by Wednesday, Nov. 12.

OTA should become everyone's starting point before lubing up for streaming crap.

When I watch a game on DirecTV that I'm actually interested in on local channels, always have a second TV with the OTA feed. OTA is about 15 seconds ahead, so you can watch the play, then watch it again on the other screen instantly. It really is a great way to absorb the game and see and process everything. Watch a play, then watch it develop after seeing the result, you can really see a lot more about what went on. Great for football junkies.

Seems like CBS, Fox, and NBC might have something to say about that.

Now if Disney is buying the NFL itself on the other hand….

Something like "awwwww, shit"? It's not what they could say, rather what yje could actually do about it.

That could be the holdup on the purchase. Mouse already basically owns SEC. Would be interesting to see the effect if CBS et al quit carrying SEC games.

Maybe there's some relationship between broadcast and network...

That's the thing.  $20 is nothing.  Even if it was monthly, that to me is evidence that Disney is probably right about the value of the their license.  Seems to me that YTTV is overpaying for all the other crap I never watch. Well over 50% of the YTTV viewing in our household is ABC/ESPN and I suspect that tracks for a lot of sports fans.  Certainly SEC/ACC college football fans.

This is one of the best features of YTTV. You set it and forget it. Select what you want recorded. Texas Football. Texas Volleyball, Baseball. F1. Whatever. It will record all of that on any channel you have, at any time, and it'll record the whole thing, even when it goes long.

They can sacrifice some things.

Things I would miss:

Food network

Football

Spongebob

TNT for the random showing of Godfather,  Star Wars,  and Shawshank

Things that can fuck off forever:

Cable news

Lifetime

For UI overall, I liked my Tivo better. Especially the DVR side of it.

However, take multiview, profiles, and custom guide order over to Tivo and that would be a really good setup.

If TV Everywhere were better supported today, Tivo could find a new market with adding those features. TVE does have fairly broad support, but the quality isn’t what it should be yet. And of course it’s local stations draggimg their feet as well.

(TV Everywhere being referred to in this context is for the ability to use whatever UI you want, login through your tv provider, and get the channels in your package.)

Definitely agree here. Only thing I’ve seen attempt to come close to that was tivo, but not near as easy or good. You had a setting for live events, and selected how much time to automatically add to the end of any live event. So not even close, and most dvr’s let you do that per recording, or per season now anyway.

It really is one of the more thoughtful everyday type of things that is very under-appreciated in development, users don’t really think about, but yields a lot of satisfaction.

Just got this:

We've been working in good faith to negotiate a deal with Disney that pays them fairly for their content and returns their programming to YouTube TV. We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney content, and we want you to know we deeply appreciate your patience. In light of the disruption, we’re offering our subscribers a $20 credit.

Over the next few days, you will receive a follow-up email with instructions on how to redeem your $20 credit for YouTube TV.Once redeemed, this will be applied to your next bill.

We remain committed to working with Disney to bring their content back to YouTube TV. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime.

With an Apple TV you can customize multiview in the ESPN app. Used to be able to on Xbox but update this year took that away for some reason.

It's pretty much worthless as I paid a couple of weeks ago for the month of November expecting to get ABC and ESPN, and am planning to cancel before my renewal at the end of the month.

Hopefully they fix this as I love the YTTV interface and functionality.

I'll set up something OTA and do sling or anything other than direct to disney.
