Congo traumatized me as a kid and for some reason the The Crow also scared the shit out me. There are many other movies that scared me as a kid that I don’t know the name of because I only saw parts of them on HBO at my grandma house.

I’m still baffled how James Cameron was able to show Kate Winslett’s tits in a PG-13. Not that I’m upset about it.

doc hollywood was pg-13 with a pair of tits.  first set I ever saw not in a magazine.  fried my brain for good.

My parents didn't know what they were getting everyone into when they took us to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. My little brother was like 5 or 6. The sacrifice scene turned him white as a ghost and I'll never be able to get the dinner scene out of my head. Hollywood was going insane around that time and one thing the Karens of the 80's got right was the PG 13 rating due to that movie and, I think, Ghostbusters and Gremlins.

Similar story but different angle.  My dad is a very conservative christian bible beater (think Footloose level crazy).  He took us to from From Dusk Til Dawn  (Rodriguez and Tarantino) thinking it was a simple vampire flick.  He didn't pay attention to the rating for some reason.  The opening scene is shot in a strip club where all the strippers turn into vampires.  I'm still to this day shocked he didn't drag me and my brother out of the theater right there.  I don't know what was more entertaining, the boobs or seeing my dad be as uncomfortable as he was.  I'll never forget the look on his face.

I let my daughters watch Ghostbusters last Halloween (8 and 6). It had been a while since I had watched it, and figured the more adult raunchy humor would go over their heads, but they would get a kick out of Slimer and the Stay Puft marshmallow man. It was listed under the "Family" genre was and only rated PG, fuck it. I remembered being scared of the librarian ghost jump scare as a kid so I warned them before and they closed their eyes, no big deal....what I was NOT prepared for and didn't remember was the semi exorcist-esque scene where Sigourney Weaver is possessed by Zuul and speaking in the demonic voice before eventually turning into androgynous David Bowie cosplay...that was a mistake

Ray’s ghost blowjob dream might have been educational.

The only movie I ever remember scaring me was Something Wicked This Way Comes, a post-Walt, pre-Eisner Disney movie based on a story by Ray Bradbury.

Outside of a handful of exceptions, horror doesn't really affect me.

Reality is far scarier. Especially right now.

GATA ain't winning a MNC with QB Lagway on a pitch-count!

Zach Abolverdi: DJ Lagway dealing with new injury ahead of Florida training camp

Quote

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway is dealing with a new injury ahead of training camp, Gators Online has learned. The injury is considered minor but may limit Lagway at the start of fall practices this week, according to multiple sources. Lagway suffered a calf injury during a team run last week and has been in a boot, the sources said. His injury is not thought to be serious, but it’s unclear how much practice time Lagway could miss as a result — if any at all.

The Gators open camp on Wednesday. Lagway did not attempt any passes during the spring while nursing a shoulder injury and a lower body injury, according to UF coach Billy Napier. He resumed throwing in late April and said he’s “feeling great” heading into the fall.  Lagway remained engaged throughout spring camp, mimicking quarterback drills from behind the center and participating in some team activities.  He started the Orange & Blue Game but only played a few series and handed the ball off.

“I’m excited just to get out there and compete with the guys. Anytime I can be out there with my teammates, having fun, competing, I’m a happy guy. Recovery is going great,” Lagway said at SEC Media Days. “Training has been amazing. I’ve been working. I’m actually getting better at things. I’m not just trying to get back to throwing the ball. I’ve been working on mechanics that are going to help my accuracy this year, help my decision-making. It’s been great. … I’m ready to go. I’m excited to go there and compete. I’m going to be out there for fall camp and I’m excited to get to work.”

Those comments from Lagway came prior to his calf injury. He’s been dealing with his shoulder issue since 2024 and also hurt his hamstring against Georgia, causing him to miss the rest of that game and the following week at Texas. Lagway, a Freshman All-American, went 6-0 last season in the games he started and finished.  He threw for 1,915 yards and 12 touchdowns with nine interceptions and completed 60.0% of his passes in 12 games played.

Lagway made his first career start in Week 2 and set a UF true freshman record with 456 passing yards (ninth all-time in school history). He also ranked No. 2 nationally in deep balls with a PFF passing depth grade of 95.8.

I had two older sisters that loved animated and fantasy movies in the 80s that had some borderline shit for kids.

Wizards, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, Watership Down, The Rats of NIMH were all in heavy rotation when I was 5-7 and all the creepiest parts stuck with me. My 8yo daughter has seen all of them already other than Wizards and Watership Down.

Yes!  Dark Crystal got me as well.  Going back to Wizards, I was all, "Animated characters can be brutally killed?  Is that even legal?"

This will cheer you up -- he's not lonely.  He's friends with the songwriter/singer (and some of his friends as well), and they all come over to visit him in his garden.

We desperately need a new commitment to get this thread back on track.

I hope you all forgive me for cross-posting this ... fun watch.  Got me excited for the season.  Note - first stop, Texas.

(Not a horror movie, though.)

This video really got me excited. I’ve been a Texas football fan since 1970, when my dad came back from Vietnam and decided we were going to finally settle down in Austin Texas. Almost immediately I was obsessed with the team. Nixon giving them the trophy. Roosevelt Leaks. Earl Campbell. There were a lot of highs and lows, of course culminating with 2006 in the Rose Bowl. I was there and it was glorious.

For the first time since 2006 it feels like this program is at a place where it could have tremendous success again. The thing about Texas football history is that the program always peaks its head up for some glory from time to time, but rarely made a consistent run at the top over a long period of time. It’s hard to do.

We have a chance to stay at the top as one of the truly elite programs year after year, and that’s an awesome opportunity. Go Arch. Go Horns. Let’s finally get one this year.

2026 TE Keawe Browne Re-Opens Recruitment After Silent Texas Commitment - On3   ?

I didn't think we'd let this kid commit, and I was happy thinking we'd moved on. But now that Browne has reopened a recruitment I never even knew was closed, I'm offended.

Only people who, unlike you, are smart enough to know octopus is not a second declension noun.

Wow this hits close to home. I went to my first game against TCU in 1971 with my dad. I was in awe and from that day forward and wanted to attend Texas. Graduated  business school 1983. The stadium had the pylon score board I think south end zone and the track circled the field. The cheerleaders were riding little Honda 50s that I wanted at that age. After that experience, I made a point to take my girlfriend’s children to games to indoctrinate them and experience what I did. They all said I want to attend UT after seeing a game and walking campus. My girlfriend is 26 years younger and her kids are only 6,8&9 so we shall see. I agree we are on a run like early 2000’s.
