Yeah I asst coached a team one summer that we named the Bears & gave 'em Chico's Bail Bonds shirts too. Good times...

Good game. I especially enjoyed it when Smoltz confidently but incorrectly explained how a humidor works.

I liked it when he boldly proclaimed Gray's slider wasn't working after 3 whole pitches. Then like 2 pitches later he gets the K on a slider.

3 innings no runs from Max is probably a win?

Absolutely a “win”.

Scherzer May have been good 4 years ago and before, but he is trash now. Especially again the National League. He is also horrible luck.

Before last night’s game, over his last 3 postseason starts (1 last year & 2 this year), he was 0-2 with over a 10.0 ERA.

If the D-Backs runner doesn’t miss the stop sign and gets back to 3rd, there is a strong likelihood that Scherzer doesn’t make it out of the 2nd inning.

It took an All Star starter level throw from right field and an insane 1-5-3 put out at 1st off an elbow deflection that was barehanded and rifled to first to get 2 of the 3 outs in the inning.

That is stuff that couldn’t be put in the same inning in a movie script because it would be deemed beyond believable.

The Rangers were great this year, then they traded for Scherzer, and they sucked ass. Then Scherzer got hurt and they started playing well again.

Then the playoffs started and they won every game…

Until fucking Scherzer came back and they lost because he sucked. Then the ‘Stros got back in the series and the Rangers couldn’t do shit for fuck until they returned to Houston, where the Astros keep their Kryptonite.

Again, Scherzer sucks and is Ranger poison. Two miracles saved us in the 2nd inning and an act of god got him out of the game before the 4th so that he couldn’t sabotage our lead.

We don’t want Scherzer to pitch again this year. He’s 39 and sucks and we are much better without a gritty 92 mph fastball pitch with no movement on the ball. That’s just “Game Speed Batting Practice Pitcher”-level shit right there.

Scherzer's numbers with the Rangers:

4-2, 3.20 ERA in eight starts. 45 IP, allowed 28 hits and struck out 53. ERA+ of 140 and a WHIP of 0.956.

Yes, he's old. Yes, he's injury prone. But when he's healthy, he's still pretty salty.

but who could have seen this coming?!?

yeah, was this like a 'Make a Wish' bad ump edition?  some headscratchers for both teams

yes, i know time is limited in all the SC highlights, but they don't show the pitch where Leclerc got squeezed but only the one where the batter was called back on strike 2 which was a little outside.

There's a post in the World Series thread that has all the WS umps and their "ranking." Marquez was in the 70's. Tonight's guy is in the 60's. The odd thing is the #1 guy in the playoffs was behind the plate for Game 2 and I thought he wasn't very good that night.

If anyone thought this was going to be easy, they are not familiar with Rangers history.

i've got 4 brothers and we text each other through the games.  one of them during houston said that if we won game 7 he'd have to reevaluate he whole relationship with the rangers.

This.  That was an idiotic fucking post.  Dude hasn't been sharp this post season because he wasn't supposed to be back yet.   And he is only making "rehab starts" in the ALCS and WS because it's the best option we have.

it’s not just this postseason, it’s the last three. going back to his final start of the 2021 postseason max has gone:

18.2 IP, 22 H, 16 ER, 7 HR, 7.71 ERA, 1.020 OPS

last night was actually statistically his best start since 2021, and as mentioned, he got some luck to avoid giving up any runs. he hasn’t been good in the playoffs for some time now.
