Jesus, when even Helobious sees it....

Elon Musk believes that humans only have three purposes:

1) To provide close-to-slave labor (every dollar spent on a human is a wasted dollar).  We'll likely be supervised by robots that dish out discipline and punishment for failure to make our quota of whatever.

2) To use all of their meager wages to buy Elon's goods and services.

3) For Elon to fuck, or try to fuck, with his broken dick.

Seriously, those are the only three purposes for human life to exist, according to the Musks and Thiels.  And they are doing everything they can, as fast as they can, to make that dystopian hellscape reality for the entire planet.  And here we are, happily handing them the keys to the kingdom instead of doing what we should be doing: banishing them to a desert island and barring all contact with anyone else.

What he actually says is that once AI and robots take all jobs, humans won’t need to work and goods and services will be free. People would then presumably be free to pursue higher purposes than making money. Like in Star Trek.

I’m just a little skeptical.

Giant hole in that outcome: how will Elon get rich that way?

If there's no pathway to "Elon controls the planet because he's the richest man in history," then it's not on the table for Elon.

It's so fucking fantastically stupid, it amazes me that anyone with an IQ above 30 buys it.

Well, the diseased, aggressive monkey IS the most qualified candidate in Louisiana, so.....yeah.

Are we talking about monkeys, or Louisiana candidates for political office?  Gotta be more specific, man.

Just repeating news reports. As Walter would say "and that's the way it is."

Surely Elon has never lied about his goals before.

Well and being that Elon actively hates the majority of humanity (anyone not white and European), to the point of actively wishing for places like the UK to plunge into civil war to keep them away.....yeah, maybe don't look to him as an authority on building a utopia.   "A world with only Elon's chosen people in it" isn't utopia, it's a fucking horror show.

What does an infected, pissed off truck driver have to do with this?

I think the infected monkey has his sights set a little higher than that. If Les Miles and Ed Orgeron can win national championships at LSU, a hepatitis monkey as head coach could easily get the Tigers into the playoffs two or three years in a row.

The problem is this: the only people trying to build sexbots are also the people who want to fuck robots. But anyone with enough brainpower to design a good sexbot has better intimate options beyond “circuitboard.”

I see no way out of this gap between ambition and ability.

this is a yt interview of Cory

intro-

Quote

Enshittification as a term is relatively new — Cory only coined it a few years ago to explain a phenomenon you’ll hear him call platform decay, or the experience of a piece of software or a website becoming worse and worse over time. But the term has since become a kind of rallying cry among creatives, tech theorists, and others trying to make sense of where, exactly, the internet went so wrong.

Now, with generative AI, it feels like everything in our digital lives is becoming enshittified in ways that are plainly obvious to even the most casual user of technology. So you’ll also hear Cory and I delve into that intersection between the rise of so-called AI slop and enshittification — and why it’s important that these two themes have so much overlap.

Now, I’ve known Cory for a long time. We’ve traveled in a lot of the same circles on the internet for years, writing and debating copyright, Section 230, and a lot of the other major forces in U.S. law that have shaped the tech industry. And all of that comes up in this conversation, too — because central to the narrative around enshittification is how tech companies became so big and so powerful that they were able to start abusing their market dominance with little to no consequences.

So enshittification, in Cory’s eyes, is as much a legal and regulatory story as it is a product one — but which laws and regulations have what kind of effects over time? What kind of effects will they have in the future? What’s the best way to curb monopoly power?

This was a really fascinating conversation that touches on a lot of Decoder themes that come up again and again on the show. And in true Cory fashion, he really does not hold back. I think you’re going to like it.

I think a lot of the complaints of the last few pages would go away if you old people would stop going into brick and mortar stores. I get it, I grew up going to them too but the world has changed and better options are available now.

The John Deere thing has bothered me for a long time.  What can we do to gouge possibly the most self-sufficient culture when it comes to DIY and making shit work?  Ahah!  We'll fuck em right in the ass so our shit isn't reparable without a code or specialized tools.  Sorry ass Iowa fucks.

Hey man are you some kinda pinko commie? John Deere would be betraying their shareholders if they weren't extracting value out of every link of their valuechain by charging a fee to access their own data, and repackaging customer data into whitelabel products for the open data market.

Farmers and farming doesn't matter. Putting the shareholder first matters.
