They never walked away on issues important to them - like protecting unions, making sure the richest among us get fairly taxed, protecting your rights when you’re injured due to the negligence of others or big Pharma, protecting your right to medical care as much as possible under whatever system was going on.

White people have no agency. Democrats forced them to become racist assholes who vote against their self interest.

Democrats have no agency, they were innocent bystanders to repealing GS, the bankruptcy bill, private student loans, making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, not holding anyone accountable for the financial crisis, etc.

I’m not sure what will happen Tuesday. Obviously I want Harris to win and I’m cautiously optimistic that she will. Regardless though, her campaign has been run about as good as she could possibly hope.

Pretty much this.   Despite the biased media, polling firms, the number of people who would vote for Trump no matter what, how things looked in mid-July, etc it's amazing that it has gotten to this point.

Now to just get it across the line and then deal with whatever shit happens between November 6th and January 6th.

The Democratic party hasn't made a serious attempt to align with Organized Labor until recently while ignoring them since the 90's.

The Democratic party and Organized Labor had a falling out during the Clinton administration. Clinton's neoliberalism was not friendly to Organized Labor. While something like NAFTA made sense to both conservatives and white collar liberals it was a blow to Organized Labor. This is just one example. This carried over into the Obama administration as well.

Yes, the Republicans ran culture war shit but that's to be expected. It's not a secret that class war is countered through social division in order to divide the working class. That's always been the play. The Democratic party let the working class get sliced up while running as moderates a day catering to white collar liberals.

Hell, just look at the attitude many Harris voters had against port workers in the strike thread over in the DT.

LBJ thought we would lose whites for a generation in the Democratic Party for letting blacks be an equal part of America.

He was wrong, a huge section of wide America ran from the Democratic Party forever because of racism. Look at the current GOP and tell me that racism isn’t one of the largest motivators of that party.   Now, tell me you didn’t see the GOP move from daddy Bush and Willie Horton to the southern strategy to Reagan in Philadelphia Mississippi talking about states rights, to the overwhelming move of the old confederacy to the GOP, and tell me they were all more concerned about a host of other issues that were equal motivators to your as-yet-explained reasons.

Karl Rove and culture wars combined with a Democratic Party being seen as the black party is the biggest reason those white people went GOP.   And if you reread what I said, I referenced that there were multiple reasons.  That is my comparative fault comment, so I’m not saying they were the only ones.

So if you and F250 want to articulate your vision of why that is wrong, step right up.

Edit: F250 just did.  TY

How much of that was worrying about the effect on the election versus being opposed to the actual strike?

White collar liberals took all those social positions that the white working class despised, be at the end of segregation, be at busing, be it affirmative, action, forcing colleges to fund women’s sports, trying to get an equal amendments passed.

And like I said, there’s flagburning gay marriage, and a host of issues that decimated the working class from the Democratic Party.

I don’t think we disagree with each other so much as you do not view the socials and racial issues as being the prime motivators overtime as I do.  And the problem is, they are all interwoven.   But I honestly believe you totally diminish the effects of 30 years of right wing news and radio delivering a world that doesn’t exist and a view of the Democrats policies that is actually a lie.    You want to blame things on democrats union policies 30 years ago while not recognizing that there are many GOP fans who think that Hillary and Obama smelled like sulfur

this is my last post of the thread jack

Please go back and take a look at when there was a Democratic president in the White House, how often they controlled both houses of Congress. You come off like a simpleton who has no comprehension about how politics work.

edit - your first post on this subject where you interchanged the use of "signed" and "implemented" is the giveaway that you are either trying to purposely mislead people due to a personal agenda, or you're genuinely confused about how law and politics interact.

Can we stop the traditional rite of Democrat self-flagellation for a few days?

Yeah Clinton fucked up the party and they became a right wing party, we know this. But the tide has turned, we are getting this shitshow back on the road. But never forget it is the common people who make this country work. We must be uncompromising in pursuing their interests, and that includes minority groups of all stripes.

Everything else comes second.

Every president makes mistakes but there's a valid argument about why the bold is false. However I'm with ya on the rest.

Yeah, but they seem real bitchy when I try to take them on a date for a croissan'wich.  Here I am, going out of my way to be culturally inclusive in a genuine effort to score some fine trim, and they get offended by my efforts.

To each his own, but it seems having someone who supports that level of hate and sexual violence towards women watching your daughter would be like having someone who shows tendencies of pyromania watching your house.

Luckily neither my parents nor in laws support that so I don't have that close of a connection to it, but man it would make it tough. I have some brother and sister-in-laws neither I nor my wife would trust with them now if they were still young minors.

I think there are still, believe it or not, a lot of uninformed voters out there who just vote by habit. It’s inconceivable to most of us that people can not understand how awful he is but I think a lot of his voters just get small sound bites of information about grocery prices and that’s it. That’s all they know about the election. If gas prices were still high they’d just vote against the incumbent.

I can't decide what's a more on-brand behavior of progressive Democrats towards people who are culturally middle and working class: assuming we don't trust them anymore because we need a political history lesson about the civil rights era or accusing us of bad faith, rooted in either hidden agendas or personal confusion/ignorance.

Speaking on. behalf of every American who has ever had the rent for a shirt with their name embroidered on it deducted from their wages, you seem to have missed the point.

I'm not entirely sure that I know who Jill Stein is. Color me skeptical that any of the undecideds do. Anyone pulling the lever for her is just an Anastasis-level both-sides edgelord who was always going to find someone to dump their protest vote on.

That is a hell of a thing to say about Chainsaw and his candidate, sir.

That kid is lucky Kelce didn't break him in two. Calling his brother a f*****t, and just continuing to talk shit. Bold strategy, dipshit.

Now, about Trump blowing his mic stand last night, here's the 3 minutes leading up to it. My kid showed it to me and I figured I'd gain some kind of context. Nope. It's just 3 minutes of him repetitively ranting like a child about the height of the stand, or something, calling the crew stupid over and over, and then he does his thing.

It does provide some context about the crowd's response though. Seems to me like they're laughing at him, not with him.
