I have no idea why I keep refreshing this thread. There is no information here without @Js1.  Maybe I should go to the gym too.

Yeah, this thread does not seem like a party that keeps on going.

It feels more like a meeting that has run past 5 on a holiday weekend.

A polling place outside of Pittsburgh got a late start because the election judge never showed up with the ballots & name book. It’s a small 50/50 precinct mostly white working class. People that couldn’t wait (~20) had to fill out provisional ballots that won’t be counted today. Seems fairly inconsequential but it made for some interviews with classic Manongahela valley yinzers on the local news.

Had an asshole opposing counsel who insisted that my witness authenticate 120 documents, one-by-one, in a deposition that had already run past 5:00 on December 23rd.

I still hate that fucker.

Wait until they find out 10-12% of registered Republicans voted for Harris.

I've been pretty convinced for awhile now that the actual tale of the election will be how many Rs crossover.

The house across the street from my mom had one of those dotard shrines with 20 signs, couple of flags, etc.  The yard also had a couple of Cruz signs.  My mom said today all the dotard shit is gone but the Cruz signs are still there.  I've seen enough to call TX for Harris.

Contracting officer made a proposal due on the 26th. On the 23rd issued an extension. Now due Jan. 02.

Fucker.

Back to the election. Among friends it is split. The one that amazed me is a Texan, usually liberal, but so scared of the border is going for trump.

On the other hand, I have a message thread with a bunch of high school friends.  Three of them are hard core Southern Baptists.  One was a preacher, another a preacher's son, the last is currently a deacon.

Preacher has been convinced that the sheep have lost their way entirely and is spitting mad.  He also has three daughters who've worked on him.  I sent him free Harris and Allred signs and he put them in his yard...in Azle.  That's like the school punching bag putting a "Kick Me!" sign on his own back.  He gives zero fucks.  He's voting D up and down the ballot until the party ejects that fucking guy.

Deacon has also seen the light after his wife's posts lightly questioning tfg's attitudes towards women were gang piled by other members of his church he thought were sane.  He's been converted.

Once the scales came off their eyes they were able to see the many and varied offenses of that fucking guy and have become vocal opponents within their communities.  I'm sure that's cost them some friends, but they believe they're on the side of right.

Preacher's son has remained conspicuously quiet on the thread.

2/3 conversion rate works for me.

Better late than never. But it’s astounding that people whose career is based on promoting the morality of humankind, truth, selflessness, and watching out for that anti-christ haven’t wholly rejected trumpism from the beginning.

Yet when Trump was the President they spent the whole 2018 election saying there was a crisis on the border. Elect Cruz and he and Trump will save it.

We did and yet there still a crisis at the border. Supposedly anyway.

Indeed, many are actively promoting him from the pulpit. Very disillusioning for me.

It won't be called but that fuckface will try to declare victory regardless the second any returns go his way.

This is absolutely going to happen. I'm more concerned about this then the actual result.

Those 2018 caravans are getting closer and closer

And their response is always "ok we got that wrong, but that DOES NOT REFLECT AT ALL ON US OR CHRISTIANITY, but don't worry we will get it right going forward."

And then they promptly get it wrong again.

You and me both brother.  My cousin's husband is an SBC preacher way out in West Texas.  I've been trying to convert him for years.  Whenever I bring up any of the many varied and problematic outright contradictions of tfg, his pat response is "God works in mysterious ways, still voting for tfg." On occasion I'll get "He may yet be redeemed."  It's very difficult to argue with "God" and come out on top.  So maybe my conversation rate is closer to 2/4.  Still, it hasn't been for lack of trying.

Evangelical southern Christianity has not just aligned with, but USED "RELIGION" TO SUPPORT the following things:

Slavery

Jim Crow

Anti-miscegenation laws

Segregation

Banning women from the pulpit

Trumpism

If there's a "WRONG FUCKING SIDE OF HISTORY" Hall of Fame, evangelical southern Christianity gets its own fucking wing.

I have made this observation to my SBC peers more than once.  They really get uncomfortable when I do.  And I relish it.
