I was told that no one would suggest that I sell my Tesla to prove I am not a nazi supporter, and also that I was being defensive and distracting for suggesting that people were saying that.

More likely they would nationalize them, hand them over to BYD or Geely or some other Chinese EV manufacturer and tell Elon to get fucked.

Speaking of cultures that Musk prattles on about, I’d love to hear his description of South African culture.  Also, wonder if he realizes how fluid the peoples or Europe were before nation-states started forming.

And Texas.  You know, the State he chose to move to.

We are emphatically opposed to buying another Tesla. But for now this will have to do…

Remember when out of the blue, Musk called some random guy, who by all appearances was a good and brave dude who engineered a cave rescue of 12 boys trapped in a cave, the "pedo guy"? Musk was all in his feels because he wasn't able to be the hero. If he were aggy, we'd call that projection, where every accusation is an admission.

Eh, just a thought. I think there's some serious shameful feelings hidden within Musk.

Did I miss an explanation about how his autism is the reason he appeared at a German nazi rally and that we shouldn't be so critical of such an innocent tic?

The Hitler style salute was just a massive troll job of Republicans. Said a fellow, (though non-disaffected) autistic guy on Reddit.

15 Jewish groups have announced they are leaving Twitter.  Wonder how Leon will take that, especially since they directly call him out.

Kenan Thompson Eating GIF by Saturday Night Live

https://urj.org/press-room/statement-ending-engagement-xtwitter

In Jewish tradition, the prohibition on "lashon hara," or "evil speech," reminds us of words' power to harm. The great sage Maimonides taught that even when true, speaking disparagingly of others is "the evil tongue." (Mishneh Torah, Hilchot Deot 7:2.) Speech, whether spoken or written, can cause pain, shame, and instigate action to devastating effect. Words can also uplift and heal. They must always be chosen with care, designed to call in rather than call out, to lift up rather than tear down.

That is why, after careful consideration, we are choosing to stop actively posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, which has become rife with toxic speech. We will transition away from active engagement on X in the first quarter of 2025.

As Jewish groups committed to healing what is broken in our world, we aim to do our work through means that similarly foster repair. In study after study, as well as our lived experiences, X has become a platform that promotes hate, antisemitism, and societal division. Under the leadership of Elon Musk, X has reduced content moderation, promoted white supremacists, and re-platformed purveyors of conspiracy theories. Musk himself has re-posted content that is antisemitic and xenophobic, promoting it to his millions of followers.

The hateful posts on X are harmful to Jews and people of all faiths and no faiths. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, elected officials and disaster response officials who happen to be Jewish were attacked in posts on X that used virulent antisemitic terms and tropes, undermining efforts to help all individuals impacted by the hurricane and diminishing trust in civic institutions. In addition, X has become the largest purveyor of antisemitic content among the major social media platforms post-October 7.

No social media site is free of challenges, and social media's impact on individuals and society overall requires greater study and effective responses. Some of us may maintain accounts on X to ensure our handles are not assumed by other entities with values contrary to our own. But rather than contribute to the coarsening of discourse that is so pervasive on X, going forward, we will post content elsewhere.

It's 112 miles.

It was all bullshit from the start.   No EV is taking people on a brutal drive.  I drove Austin to Tucson before, and I have driven from Grand Prairie (Canada) to Ft. Laird.   I didn't know they could make unpaved mud/gravel roads have potholes in them, but somehow the Canadians managed this feat.

I loved Catherine Rampell's challenge to Scott Jennings for downplaying the Nazi salute in the video posted above.  "Why don't you do it on the air right now?"  Did he? No, because he's a chickenshit.

Anyone that tries to downplay or explain away Musk's nazi salute should face the same challenge.  "Why don't you do it right now?"  Capture that shit with your phone.  Cowards won't do it.

That dude can fuck all the way off and hopefully cease to be alive due to a Cybertruck explosion.

And that CNN just lets him talk usually uninterrupted - fuck.  FUCK.  Everything is awful right now, and our supposed free media is going right along with it.

Selling my car isn't going to cost him money. So I'm not going to do that. But I will not be shopping a Tesla for future vehicles (unless perhaps he gets kicked the curb).

No, but it might cause him to not sell one in the future. Remember when every cool dude needed a humvee? Same with Teslas. First there was one at the Randalls, then the perception (yeah, it is only perception btw) that they were cool, plus you could brag about how you were saving the planet, increased. And others who wanted to be cool (but were really that asshole who just added some worthless feature to Office) went and bought one. Now the ugly fuckers are all over the place. See, but selling them you show the assholes you think being a NAZI wanna be is bad and they should not get your dime, OR your support.

Think of it like this. Michael Bolton from Office Space would mortgage his gangsta rap collection for a Tesla. You want to be perceived as that guy?

Selling my car necessarily means someone else has it. I don't reduce total ownership by selling. And people still need to see EVs out on the road.

I got taken to task for not selling mine either. We just bought my son a car, I’ve got one more son to buy for next year.  We converted a lease termination to purchase on our maycan in 2024 - we had like $15k in “equity” on the buyout option so we went for a long term hold on that car while we deal with teenagers. So we are paid off on the tesla and in good shape on our other car while we deal with the two boys. The timing for me to get a new car is just awful. The next 2-3 years we will have 2 purchases on top of the lease buyout. The hit to musk if I sell my tesla is nonexistent. So I’m not adding an extra burden on our budget for purity politics.

but I am eyeing the new Scout SUV EV…. Wowzers.

Nasa hasn't had space shuttles to get them since 2011. Boeing Starliner is a piece of shit.

I guess relying on Soyuz makes sense since they are still going back and fourth but there's no American option to get them back.

The ISS is going into the ocean in 5 years.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but answering a stretched truth with another stretched truth doesn't solve anything or help anyone.

Trump is not ordering a new effort.  Trump's kayfabe is that he is riding in to "save the day", when in fact the very thing that he is proposing (SpaceX flight to retrieve them) has been in planning and execution since at least August.

NASA's claim that the astronauts are "not stranded" is nearly as bad.  It's bullshit semantics.  The astronauts were supposed to be home nearly 8 months ago.  It's perfectly fine to say that these astronauts are not abandoned, and it's perfectly fine for NASA to frame it internally that these astronauts are not stranded.  But to communicate that publicly diminishes the organization.  It's just spin.

Stranded implies there is no way home. They are in space, it isn't like running down to HEB to pick up a gallon of milk at 10 PM.

They aren't fucking Tom Hanks in Cast Away, which the main person this thread is about seems to be acting like.

Guy, it's ALL spin. It always has been. Bringing the president and Musk into it only guarantees even more spin.

Company got screwed by a vendor. It happens a million times every single day, except they are in space so it takes more planning to get right so they don't die either going to get them or coming back.
