You’re welcome to your ignorant views — and they are no doubt built upon ignorance — but internet people pretending to love their country and their community and calling active duty soldiers “cosplayers” is the height of irony.

They signed their life over in service of something bigger; you’re playing the ignorant troll role on a college football website. Those specific “cosplayers” are the ones responsible for representing OUR country at Arlington when WWII, Korean War, etc. vets are interred. Today they marched in a dumbass parade; tomorrow they’ll be guiding a grieving family through a terrible day.
Trump is the most unamerican president even if you include Jefferson Davis. Stop being shitty and reclaim the pro-America side. It’s so easy to not be anti-soldier.

You are projecting because your feelings are hurt. They cosplayed as revolutionary soldiers today. It is ridiculous and they just performed in this circus.

Enjoy.

What people need to realize is that we don’t win by Trump getting better. We with him getting worse. By him doing more and more indefensible, vile shit. Which he will, it’s his nature.
More vile shit, and more vile shit, until his defenders lose critical mass. Then…we overwhelm them and defeat them. That’s the plan. Don’t know if it will work. But it’s the only way.

It works. It'll work this time and it'll work the next time a country gets fooled by an old racist and obese grifter. You build support to send these people packing with days like today.

Y'all getting your hopes up. A cult leaders spell only lifts when they die, and only if they don't die a martyr. I know y'all have see posts about how evangelicals trap new followers by isolating them from the secular world. They get sent out to protletyze only to be told how silly their new belief is. That only steers them futher into the cult which doesn't think they're weird, instead is the community they've been seeking. This shit is just more of that. Making fun of Dotard changes nothing for the cult. His failures change nothing for the cult.

The other reliable Pub voters won't change either because taxes, people of color, pronouns, and whatever else Fox News comes up with in the 60 days before elections. Holding their nose to vote for THEIR team has become a regular thing now. It's just how it is. No need to rally those troops, 'cause they'll always vote, and vote R. The people who can get fed up or are too embarrassed to stick with the party have already left.

We're going to need an event to shake us out of it. COVID wasn't enough. Something far, far worse. Short of that, or the billionaire class suddenly deciding they actually do have too much money, this is the new normal.

Il Duce would like a word with you. The Italians ran him right the heck on out of there when it became apparent he was a bumbling moron who was not a great cult leader.

A resounding military defeat in the lower 48 would qualify as the kind of event Dotard couldn’t survive.

"Fortunate Son" is a wow choice even for this group of idiots.

I would be willing to bet that some Millennial googled "songs with red, white, and blue in the lyrics" and no actual adults bothered to check the song list.

God damn, what a clown show.

I think the responsible party here is the Army not Trump.

Remember, Trump co-opted this whole deal from the Army.

More than a few people have suspected the Army of trolling him at certain points.  And Fortunate Son is the kind of protest song that the Army can use as well as civilians.

ETA:  see the not-exactly-squared away marching above, and, if real, I think the DoD flag poster above might have been a troll from a right-minded graphic designer in the Pentagon.

Whelp, DC is still here.

TBH, city was dead as fuck. I live on the Wharf/DC Waterfront and I’ve never seen it so quiet all weekend. Other than few off duty troops killing time at bars and restaurants on Friday evening, most of the places were cutting wait staff due to slow traffic.

Last weekend was Pride and it was packed: Dance party on the Pier, day drinking started promptly at 10 AM, Wharf was pumping late night.

Saw the choppers fly over and it’s always cool to see a Chinook, but they scrapped the jet and warbird flights due to weather.

i literally cannot picture him just sitting down and listening to music. it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t own or stream any music. i don’t see him as someone who takes pleasure in normal things like music or family pets. if it doesn’t make him rich or powerful, it doesn’t move him.

which also reminds me of penn teller recounting how trump never laughs. they filmed an entire season of celebrity apprentice together, and teller said that trump never laughed, at least not in the way that normal people do. he said he might smirk or chuckle a little at someone else’s misfortune, but that he never told jokes, spoke with any levity, or just straight up laughed along with anyone else.

i mean how easy is it to picture obama, biden, bush, clinton, etc smiling and laughing? they did it all of the time. you never see trump genuinely smiling or laughing in the name of levity; only when he gains something, is flattered, or is doing something cruel. the guy is barely human. just an orange, gelatinous, shit stained, lizard brained tyrant, and him being a two-time president of the United States makes this the most dystopian timeline. just unreal.

I agree, but it's pretty well documented that he's a big fan of show tunes and other schlocky stuff.

I really don’t care if he has hobbies or likes music of any kind or whatever.  I just want him the fuck out of disrupting my country.  It was a pretty good country until he flipped so many chips in so many vulnerable heads.  I had so many relatives and friends who were apolitical before Trump. It gave me real hope to see (on Surly this morning) the big No Kings turnout at The Villages, literally a Trumpism retirement destination elder zombie assisted living residential community and one of the reddest zip codes out there. You go gettem, my gray panther brothers and sisters!  Now where’s my walking stick, Martha?

this ended up projecting the exact opposite image to the world they were hoping for…instead of strength, we projected weakness; instead of solidarity, we exposed division; instead of organization, we showed chaos and disorder; instead of shared interest and mission, there was apathy in abundance; and on and on, ad infinitum.

we just exposed to the entire world…if they didn’t already know…the utter incompetence of our leadership and we used what is considered to be strongest military force known to mankind as the vehicle to convey that message.

Trump and his goons truly believe that fear of us and concern for consequences are what motivates other nations to deal with us…they are the very core of their ontology. in real life at that level that is rarely the case.  but if they were a factor, they are no longer.

Trump flipped over a 3 of clubs after he acted like he was holding an ace of spades.  and he didn’t even need to play that card…he did it on his own

we now may as well lay back, relax and enjoy the inevitable sodomy that is sure to come our way because there’s not a goddamn thing we can do about it.

She lives in Trump Tower.

The last time I stayed around the corner at the Central Park Hotel on 59th, a couple members of the Secret Service details were in the elevator bitching being treated like servants and gofers.

This parade - as it was handled by the military - did way more good than harm.

The Regime wanted to put on a show for the country and world to demonstrate exactly how powerful and dominant it is.
Mission accomplished.
Just not the way they thought.
When your bully shows his weakness, and you have demonstrated you are strong enough to stand up to him….that is when you go on the attack.
We need to go on the attack now. Relentlessly. Against every member of the Regime, and against anyone who still supports them. Dox their businesses. Everywhere Trump goes, he should be greeted with jeers - “America hates you! Die already!” Shit like that.
And our politicians need to get on board. They need to have one mode, and one mode only: attacking and fighting. Cooperate with nothing, give them no quarter, or an instant of peace or rest. If you aren’t willing to fight, then GTFO and make room for someone who will.

What’s even more interesting to me is that he clearly USED to participate in pop culture, but completely stopped sometime in the late 80s/early 90s. From his favorite musicals to the references he makes to the way he talks about New York City… it’s uncanny how his brain seems stuck in this time period.

Imagine future you showing you these images 10-20-30 years ago. Sometimes this stuff is almost unbelievable. Like from a dystopian movie or something.

"Wait. PRESIDENT Donald Trump? Throws himself a military parade with tanks and shit rolling down the street, on his birthday? Sponsored by something called 'Coinbase'???"

dude

the us 3rd regiment is the oldest in the army

they protect the unknown soldier at arlington and are the color guard for the fallen when they arrive at andrews

and they literally are chartered with OFFICIAL cosplay - not aggy cosplay - yesterday was not a one-time thing - they've been doing this forever

Yeah I actually find this shit cool as fuck and would have definitely watched some sort of celebration of it because deep down I want to be patriotic again. But I won’t watch anything associated with that fucking guy. Shame

I am happy as hell that trump's party turned into a bust, but I am unhappy that it came at the expense of the Army.  This should have been a celebration for a fighting force that has done so much for our country.  Yes, there's good and bad in the history of its use, but the Army has protected us from the likes of Jeff Davis, Tojo, and Hitler.  It should have been able to celebrate without the celebration being highjacked by the orange clown.
Happy Birthday, Army!

I like that the armed forces got specific callouts from several speakers at the Capitol yesterday. Formed to fight against kings, and still on the job today. The mission has never changed.

So professional cosplayers with a modern twist (women, no drummer boys).   Ceremonial units have their place, and I like that they are an homage to the past and keep alive some of the information that would be otherwise lost and I hope to one day get to row on that Greek trireme or atleast see it.  But the event was a circus for a wannabe king.

I also like seeing old equipment like the Shermans at a museum and seeing them at a local event, or my neighborhood F4 Phantom was fun.   Seeing it in an official capacity sponsored by the grifting for the glory of trump makes it all distasteful.

I am angry about the military being used as a pawn one one hand to be celebrated while their brethren are simultaneously, being use to oppress American civilians.

So just ignore my grumblings.

I guess hope always springs eternal with me, but yesterday felt different. It was both his parade and the protests. The juxtaposition of the two can’t be ignored. This energy is contagious. I know I’m not alone, but I was energized by being amongst so many diverse people who are pissed off. I think the emperor was finally naked in front of everyone. Plus his flip flop on deportations for certain groups. This is the weakest he’s ever looked. Which is probably the most dangerous time
