You and your husband need to get the fuck out of Texas right now.  Vote with your feet.  Texas doesn't want you there.  As soon as SCOTUS rules, your marriage will be invalidated, by your fellow Texans.  Fuck those guys.  They don't like you, they don't appreciate you, and they would be much happier without "your kind".

You will find a welcome home in CA, where the validity of your marriage is enshrined in our state constitution.   You will find good jobs, a great climate, and like-minded people here.  Move NOW.  Texas will be worse-off without you (but they will be happy to see you go)

It was a good idea that got vetoed by board management.  I disagree with that decision.

Some dipshit that read "on the internet" about Hillary's secret sex basement at a DC pizza place got his assault rifle and drove hundreds of miles to "free the children".

Appreciate it, I really do. I worry every single fucking day. When I’m out on a walk with my dog through neighborhoods, the thought often creeps in that what if ICE jumps out of that van up ahead and decides to take me? I wonder if I should carry my passport with me whenever I go anywhere. I NEVER thought I would EVER have to concern myself with (yes, I know I ended with a preposition). But here we are. And it really pisses me off. And saddens me. I used to be patriotic as fuck growing up. My dad was an Air Force Colonel so I lived on numerous bases and participated in a lot of pomp and circumstance. I lived and breathed patriotism.

That patriotism is on life support and it’s truly sad. Anyway, I told my husband it’s time to implement a two year plan to get to Denver. We figure we need that time to get my parents agreeing to the idea and putting everything in motion. Of course that could change depending on, well, everything. We may just scoot all the way to Washington or even Canada if we have to and are able. Texas losing two successful healthcare workers and Exes. I’m sure we aren’t the only story like that. Brain drain is gonna be a thing sooner than later

I don't know a lot about CO, but a state with a gay, Jewish GOV is probably a safer place than the land of Abbott and Paxton.

I can relate to your first paragraph. We took a trip to San Diego during the summer and my dad asked if I was taking my passport because he and my mom were taking theirs. I responded that we weren't planning on crossing the border, but he corrected me that it was in case we get stopped by ICE. Never in my life did I think I would be having a conversation like that.

As for your second point, patriotism is being replaced by nationalism.

I'm white as a fucking sheet.  If I had any color at all, I'd get the passport card and carry it with my credit cards, etc.  The passport is too bulky.

The DC circuit has ruled that even though Congress has the power of the purse, there’s only one person in the entire United States who has standing to actually seek relief over illegal impoundment (the head of the GAO). So if he or she doesn’t, everyone else can just get fucked.

Oh, and the head of the GAO is appointed by the president and the current one will see his term expire this year.

America sure was a decent idea.

His bit is to post stuff he doesn't actually believe in order to get a reaction out of people.  What exactly do you think trolling is?

My trolling is literally telling a bunch of Democratic voting men on a message board that other men have rapidly decided not to associate with the Democratic party even though they are much more librul than their previous generations. That is it. A simple observation.

White millennial and gen X men showed out for Obama and it’s been a slow bleed since. Hispanic men began leaving in 2016, and now you saw it in 2024 with black men. Bringing this up means I support Trump according to the big brains here.

No, dehumanizing other posters is what earns you the trumper cred. That's some real classic fascist shit, what a fun silly joke teehee!

I know you guys might be worried about losing your rights or being picked up by ICE as they mistake you for being undocumented because you're brown but have you taken a moment to think about how many sacks Anthony Hill is going to get this season?

Probably because all the things that State used to complain about are shit Trump is doing or planning on doing here

I trust zero that comes from this clown car dictatorship. I’ll listen to what other countries think about human rights violations. We are not to be trusted on anything, but especially reports like that.

If your parents or you are on Social Security, get ready for no cost of living increases. Since they are tied to BLS’s inflation numbers, Trump will compel reports of no inflation, even when it’s 4% and SS recipients will be screwed.

The only person I know on social security of my mother-in-law. In fact, I know i won't get social security.

My father-in-law just passed away at 75 yrs abs now my mother in law is on the verge of being homeless thanks to social security.

She paid in her whole life, just like my father-in- law and now since he passed,  she can't afford to live in the same house because they don't pay out the rest of his contribution after he died.

Social security would've been great had the fucking piece of shit politicians not have played with it constantly,  basically stealing from it for other bullshit.

She should have been paid for all of his contributions after his death,  had it been a real system.

Me? I'm going to work until I'm dead. Be that me going with some shitty heart attack that my health insurance will refuse to pay for for some odd reason,  or because I'll be shot in some dumb shit i do after I go on a spree after this shithole supreme court overturns Loving vs Virgjnia in a disastrous opinion written by justice uncle Thomas that has some magical carve-out for himself only.

I have no misconceptions about my life.  I kinda hope the war actually pops off so I can use my whiteness to infiltrate and dispose of large groups of enemy combatants. Other than that,  I'll probably end up getting deported to some random country like Liberia due to my past history with the law in this country.

But who really gives a fuck.  I've been living on borrowed time for 27 years now.  When I die it will be my 4th. And I really hope I go out with a bang.

OP, you need to make a phone call.  MIL should be getting FIL's payment if it's more than hers.

Instead of bitching, educate yourself.

She's trying,  but was denied. He retired early for medical because he had sarcoidosis, and then fought leukemia twice.  She's only 60 and took early retirement to take care of him.

They cut her benefits to around 50% as soon as she filed for survivor benefits when he passed.

Easy,  hoss. I'm pretty sure the shorthand of this situation has you thinking things that aren't true.

In fact,  we're trying to figure out if were moving her where we live because her other 3 sons are wanting her to pull herself up by her bootstraps.

Call a local/regional SSA line and ask about widowers benefits and 82.5% limit specifically just to make them give you an answer other than “we’re too lazy to look”

Yeah,  we're working on it.  She lives in a different state so we're trying to figure it all out. We're looking into moving her out here in October, but she really wants to stay where she is.

It's really just a mess.

But I figure with the administration we have now,  we won't get very far.  It's only been a month-and-a-half since the funeral,  so everything is up in the air

Maybe you need a break from this website.
Maybe we all do.
Maybe someone with a degree from somewhere other than aggy could start us a new website.
