I haven’t been a huge fan of Rage’s music but I sat across from him at a restaurant that had community seating. Super smart guy. Actually, he blew me away with how smart he was. Nice too. 

As soon as I graduated college, I made the mistake of chasing/moving up to my long distance girlfriend in Seattle. I found a job bartending at a place in Madison Park, and immediately broke up with her.
The clientele that I was honored to serve/meet were, Tom Morello, Dave Grohl, Pete Yorn, and Peter Buck (REM).
EVERY SINGLE ONE of them came solo, and while the bar was dead (during the day), and ordered food. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them started the conversation, and asked me about ME. Even when I’d obviously figured out who they were.
I will say this; those guys will forever have my respect. Not for who they were, but for how they were to me, as a nobody.

*I lied. I’ll always respect them for who they are/were.
