Don't forget the bolded addition.  It is very, very, very important.  They want government to hurt people.  That is the #1 purpose and function of government, to the GQP voter.  The only time they get mad is -- and these are their words -- when he's "hurting the wrong people."  That's it.  Not that it hurts people, but that it hurts the wrong (white) people.

I think it is a little more nuanced than that.  I think the xenophobia and the others is just part of the program to enrich themselves and gain power.   In the future they will look towards reconciliation after they lose another war, and quietly agree that the real problem were the Jews.

Harding to Coolidge to Hoover. The rise of "conservatism" as we know it in US politics. When Americans flocked to it and their shit policies, continuation of prohibition, and rejection of regulation let to overextended financial systems, a corrupt market, and finally the big crash and depression.

Americans making the same mistake 100 years later. The lessons of early 20th century conservatism causing the collapse of the country were completely forgotten by 1980 and here we are again.

Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.  Didn’t need no welfare state.

Nanette, good news.  Your check should be coming in < checks notes > two weeks.

It’s becoming more and more infuriating to me that a large chunk of his voters apparently mainly voted for him because they thought he was just going to give them money.  What. The. Fuck. Is. Wrong. With. People.

Remember how they all used to rant about the “free shit army?”

Yeah. Every accusation is a confession exhibit 350 million. Of course, what they MEANT was “if a minority gets it, it’s evil welfare/socialism…if I get it, it’s what I’ve got coming to me as a good American.”

He’s not losing any money or having to experience much in the way of misery, but Nick Bosa suffering a season-ending ACL tear made me smile. I hope he rehabs and the first play that comes back next year results in tearing his other ACL. Absolute maga trash, he is.

The only thing that could make this more CR is if you pulled a brisket and hoped that he got a career ending injury at the hand of a black guy.

Bonus points for a longhorn alum.

Water is wet and all that fun stuff. I would trade all 78 million of them for just a few of the Brazilians out in the streets across their country reminding the politicians that Bolsonaro messed around and found out and that there will not be a repeat of the amnesty mistake again. They are what a patriot looks like.

About 75% of the CR posters laughed at the free shit army.  They're still the free shit army, with some extra hate and racism.

Yeah, they're 100% behind growing the US manufacturing base but they don't' want to be the ones shouldering the personal financial burden. I get it, I don't want to as well. Instead of "toughing it out", in Trump's words, they want a handout.

At least they have Senator Tuberville to use his giant brain to come up with a solution to this problem.

I forgot to point out the “May” in “May face devastating shortage of workers under Trump immigration crack down”.

Even though the content of the article says that all of these rock-rib republican business people have concluded that they are fucked right now - and will be fucked for the foreseeable future...

….like, the Bama media can’t cross that line and actually say TFG’s immigration policies are fucking everyone.  That would be a bridge too far in Trumplandia.

I’m good with them continuing to find out into perpetuity. Every single person in that state that voted for TFG should feel a financial burden that completely breaks them.

"We didn’t wait 20 years for Bobby to finally speak and then get served Tylenol as an answer," anti-vaccine group Georgia Coalition for Vaccine Choice wrote in an unhinged Facebook post on Monday morning. "If that's all we hear - is that the end? Not thimerosal. Not aluminum. Not MMR. Not Hep B. Not the insane schedule pushed after pharma got liability protection. Are we supposed to just forget?"

Children's Health Defense (CHD)—the anti-vaccine group founded by Kennedy—even got in on the backlash, retweeting a post on Monday about parents who falsely blame vaccines for their children's neurological condition, with the statement: "THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY TYLENOL."

Another nail in the coffin for soybean farmers. Dipshits voted for this.

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinese-buyers-book-least-10-argentine-soybean-cargoes-sources-say-2025-09-23/

Chinese buyers booked at least 10 cargoes of Argentine soybeans after Buenos Aires scrapped grain export taxes, three traders said on Tuesday, dealing another setback to U.S. farmers already shut out of their top market and hit by low prices.

Argentina's temporary tax move boosts the competitiveness of its soybeans, prompting traders to secure cargoes for fourth-quarter inventories in China, a period usually dominated by U.S. shipments but now clouded by Washington's trade war with Beijing.

...

"Every time China turns to South America instead of the U.S., soybean farmers and our farm families here at home lose out," said Caleb Ragland, a farmer from Magnolia, Kentucky, and president of the American Soybean Association.

"Without a trade deal that removes retaliatory tariffs, farmers like me are left watching key opportunities slip away."

...

China, the world's biggest buyer of soybeans, has yet to purchase any U.S. soybean cargoes from its autumn harvest, traders have said.

"These deals were done last night after Argentina's decision on export tax," said one of the traders, declining to be identified as they were not authorised to speak with media. "It clearly means that China doesn't need U.S. beans."

On Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call but neither side reported any update on agriculture, further squeezing Chicago soybean futures already near five-year lows.

After Argentina scrapped its export tax, Chicago soybean futures set a six-week low on Tuesday.

"China is trying to avoid the U.S. during our export window," said Ted Seifried, chief market strategist for Zaner Ag Hedge in Chicago. "The timing is really perfect for them."

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that China had nearly completed soybean purchases for October shipment and booked around 15% of its November needs, all from South America. By that time in previous years, traders said, China would have bought 12-13 million tons from the U.S. for September-November shipment.

And how did the fine farmers of Magnolia, Kentucky vote?

I love how everyone's company was supposedly struggling due to Biden, not because they were shitty at running a business

They thought they'd benefit from the cessation of all the handouts they imagined their hardworking immigrants were getting. Surely no one will detain or terrify your hardworking immigrants away from working hard at low wages and no benefits so you can brag about bottom line.

Nope. No transfer of (more) government benefits to you because eliminating imaginary handouts yields no money. Oh, and your labor force is diminished or gone altogether.

You bought into the fear and hate of brown immigrants. You voted hate and fear. You delighted in cruelty towards them. Now, dumbass, you wonder why they're not coming around like they used to. You villify people who come here, work hard, and send money to family in horrible places. You ever try that, dickhead? They're largely better people than you. And me for that matter.

You didn't make a political or policy decision while deciding your vote. You voted your spittle.
