I have to ask - what is the worst bite you’ve ever received from your buddy?   My friend was tagged from time to time by his snake being excited that a rat was about to be dropped in his tank - the snake would sometimes strike as rat-chow was about to be dropped, miss and grab his hand.  Which he said was not pleasant and that the teeth are designed so that the prey cannot pull out of the bite so easily.

I was never bitten until the past few years, twice. Both times were exactly what you said. Dropping in a rat (dead) and being dumb about it. Both times I was under the influence. Don’t drunk snek feed.

That said, they weren’t bad. He has little needle teeth on the roof of his mouth that grip the prey as it goes down. But he doesn’t hold on or anything when he realizes I’m not food.

I dispatched this 2’ coral snake this morning, he was in our backyard at our rural Fayette County home.  I try to let most snakes be, but when they’re venomous and too close to humans/pets then I go ahead and take care of them.

I typically relocate to a more suitable location with the use of a 5 gallon bucket and would encourage this fairly simple practice. Snake karma! But I understand your response. To each their own.

I don't have a problem with killing coral snakes. My father has generally been a let all snakes go person, but when he lived in S. Texas he said he killed almost 20 coral snakes. It's just too dangerous to have them around the house when you're doing yard work and have animals. Plus, they mostly eat lizards and small snakes that help control the insect population so they don't provide much value.

My dad also knows someone that got bit by one after putting potted plants in the car. That's certainly not good.

Mrs. Brat’s cousin lives in Garland, so this hits close to her home.

That response came one hour after the question was asked.  You proabably only missed saving said good snek by 59 minutes and 45 seconds before it was dispatched "in an abundance of caution."
