it is possible to scout a $500k wr that's ready to explode

One positive outcome of the portal/free agency is the 9.95ers are showing themselves as nothing more than the charlatans they all are and maybe people will stop burning their money.

Bobby/Gerry spent 20 minutes this afternoon explaining that Texas was ‘all in’ but that Texas wasn’t just going to pay whatever it took to get a deal done.

Timestamped.

Best I can do is a head coach that's ready to explode.

Someone should have sent Cam a video showing Reed’s every pass thrown in the Texas game. That’ll cure him quick because to be a NFL receiver you need to be able to show catches.

He saw it in person this year.

It’s Sarkisian’s Cat, man. Everybody and nobody at the same time.

I saw that Chester is transferring to ASU. I am fully aware that a guy that could get meaningful playing time at his position at UT would not be heading out. I also will say I know next to nothing about him since I really don’t keep up with much of this. My guess is since we need all hands on deck in the secondary that we extended an offer to him and will hope that he can still develop. A school like ASU still has to take chances and hope for development from a guy that could surprise them. He plays that’s cool, but if not it seems like an alright gamble to do this with some of the portal guys each season.

If Texas balks at $1M for Raleek Brown, they’ve been misjudging this cycle’s market for the better part of a year. JFC if so.

That was really the basis/fear for my earlier question.

Firstly, why are the so called insiders to our program so clueless about everything to do with the program? are they being lied to or do they really have no fucking clue what is really going on? why would they come out and say that we are "all in" for months leading up to this, the only portal window before the end of the season and then we do absolutely nothing but get some average special teamers, a 400 lb defensive tackle that will likely play a dozen snaps a game and be not very good when hes on the field, and an average TE. we have done nothing to address the teams glaring major concerns on the offensive line. did we put all our eggs in one basket with the michigan twins?

Secondly, how is it possible after 5 years that nobody in this program understands how the portal works?

Welcome back, Loreal! We haven’t landed a quality WR since you stopped assisting with recruitment.

All you fucktards just go to work and don’t check Surly until you go home. Just relax. By then we will have the 2 Michigan guys and Flood will have changed his mind on the too small Wyoming OL plus Coleman will have committed and 2 stud RB’s will be on the way to study film w Arch. 9.95

Is there a polymarket out there one can wager on Cam Coleman's preferred destination?

il_fullxfull.5359716788_ob69.jpgAlready has his personalized Longhorn drinking container. Cam heard we have high hydration standards!

All in on a budget

You're not reading the room if you think Flood should even be here anymore.

Flood is goddamned GDGD ALL. OVER. AGAIN.

He was the 18th ranked portal RB last year, finished #2 in the SEC in rushing. #49 was Mike Washington JR, who finished #4 in the SEC.

Texas took him as a bit of a project but liked his physical make-up. I don't think he was pushed out. He might just want to play sooner than his 3rd or 4th year. Sometimes those guys work out, but these days they seem to usually want to portal. There's nothing out there saying he can't be a player for someone.

You're shitting yourself in the review of a photograph when what we're watching unfold is a motion picture. It's dumb to judge this until everything is locked in. As to why people are so far off? Do you work in a stale job, like an admin for the government or a giant corporation or something? This shit is completely chaotic. Even teams who truly have their shit together face a great deal of uncertainty during this period. "But but but Indiana!!! Cignetti!!!" Right. Let's see how things go for them when their portal window opens. Maybe they're the ones who figured it out, but they'd be about it.

Kiffin, the portal king, pushed Durham out to make room for Lacy and now Lacy is staying put. Nothing can be taken for granted. I told all of y'all this a month ago when the bullshit started picking up from the $9.95ers.

I'm going to choose to believe our new RB coach is involved in scouting prospects, is actually doing his job at a decent level, and isn't just relying on 247 ratings or whatever. I can trust the corches I haven't had time to work up often irrational hatreds of.

Ole Miss seems to be running plays out of the 2024 A&M baseball playbook.

Pay any current player on the team whatever they want as long as they don’t follow the mean coach who left them for another job.

Serious question: As of right now, what player has Texas lost to another school in the portal so far?

I think if there in any lesson for Bobby and OTF right now, it's that things aren't gonna move as fast as they were hoping or expecting. Lots of ins and outs and what have yous. This is the first time Texas is heavily invested in getting a lot of portal players. They are clearly all in with the number of kids who have visited so far.

I think people are taking for granted how hard it is to get these guys into the portal. Most likely for every one starter that actually gets into the portal, four others let that be known that they wanted out and never materialized. It is real easy to see how these low level guys want out for playing time or to get a taste of Power 4 NIL, but big time gets are getting taken care of at home before they can get out on the market.

Part of it is familiarity by the player, part is the old adage "it is cheaper to keep 'em than buy a new one", and part is the school still has the two-day negotiation window between the player asking to enter the portal and the paperwork becoming official. I would love to hear stories from last cycle of how many guys were "supposed" to enter and never did. How many had "deals" ready to go if they entered and yet they stayed?

9.95 report on shit at the time that they receive it. There's nothing wrong with what they are doing. But when dealing with high school and college aged kids, many of whom come from financially challenged homes, shit is fluid.

I would imagine when presented with life changing money, it's not just the kid's choice. His family (parents, uncles, etc) would definitely chime in. Some kids and families aren't thinking about what school/program will improve my NFL draft prospects. They are thinking about bills to pay and all the shit that they can buy right now.
