Stay classy UTSA.

Were they being little jerks? Or was it you?

I bet your 15 year old is handling the filth better than you are.

I’ll say this, if I’m Schloss I find a way to play a 3 game weekend series against UTSA every year while Pat Hallmark is there. Those kids don’t flinch.

I dont think he wants any part of that. He seems to want cupcakes for early series.

No hotdogs or sodas for the children? That might have been the highlight for your highschool child and his little buddy.

Yeah, there is some information missing here.

I've been there before after talking shit to a really big ass double A minor league player that just struck out. This was at Wolff stadium and I was standing over the visitors dugout.

After he reacted to me my teenage response was...

My kids played there several times for some 16U/17U tournaments in the past. Yeah, our high school baseball facility is bigger and nicer.

Speaking of which our high school will be playing in the state finals at Dell Diamond next weekend.

Split divisions in non-football sports has made the playoffs a joke now /rant. Aledo looks legit but it’s only game, anything could happen.

Through all the frustration and anger, I have to somewhat laugh at the fact that the first two pitchers in our regional final game were Hudson Hamilton and Ethan Walker. Imagine telling someone that back in February.

This game is so stupid and delivers so many unexpected turns. Imagine knowing before the season that Easton Winfield would have 1/3rd of his season hit total against Prairie View A&M, Will Mercer would pitch 2 games before getting hurt, Jalin Flores would hit under .200 in SEC play, Jonah Williams would have to start in LF because we had no one else, Max Belyeu would miss 2 months and Jared Spencer would be done for the year by mid April.

I would have asked if we finished higher than 12th in the SEC standings.

Doesn’t make tonight any easier to stomach, but yeah….

Some seasons things just don't work out when it matters.

Shit happens. Just have to reload and hope critical depth improves.

Made a Sunday day trip to ATX for that KState game. Excellent seats behind the plate, but F the team for losing Sat night so I had to sit in 489° degree heat at 2pm.  I had all weekend passes but couldn't stay for the night game. I thought we were back on track after kstate bc the bats were alive, but turns out they are just scared of UTSA or something.  It was laughable seeing the first 2 pitchers just bean and walk batters...then give up a big hit after hit.

This team has been unraveling since the aggy series. They really haven't done anything since then. Joke of an end to the good season.

Yeah never fun when a team peaks in the middle of conference play but became pretty obvious when the calendar flipped to May and unfortunately played out that way.

Conference champs in your first season in this meat grinder is something they can always be proud of and laid the foundation for bigger and better things in the future

Yes, Jonah Williams is free to focus on football earlier than expected.

And he’ll probably be nursing a hamstring issue all season.

Team got beat up and exposed/figured out as the season was ending. They over performed in year one of the new coach and with some added talent (preferably with a few proven portal hitters to fill some holes) next year brings hope.

My problem is that this is the ONLY time of year I would use it. This weekend only. I don't give a shit about any other sports I would need it for.

You can turn it off at any time, but if you are like me you would forget.

I’m not sure the point you are trying to make. At the current moment, 1/3rd of this lineup would struggle mightily to start for any SEC team outside of Missouri or South Carolina. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t improve or get better next year. I’m speaking to the state of things currently as of June 1st.

This team found ways the last 3 months and I am glad they won 22 SEC games. But we all acknowledged during the season we were winning despite some pretty large holes in various places.

You continually down play the talent/ability.  The objective is to win.  Get outs, score runs.  You reference them struggling mightily to start on other teams.  How they are playing now is the narrative you inferred above, but that’s not the drum you’ve been beating.  And Yet to my knowledge, you’ve never provided evidence that outside of Mizzou or USC the other rosters are chock full of fiery, all conference SEC talent players.  And you’ve absolutely referenced several guys not being SEC caliber.  So what I gave you in the previous post was examples of guys not looking like SEC caliber players then all of a sudden they do.  So maybe it’s not a talent thing.

A Quick Look at Vandy shows their 2 hole hitter coming in .257 with a .383 slugging percentage. 0-5 today versus the mighty Wright State.  Their cleanup hitter does have 15 homers and better average than Flores but OBP is less than .300.  Their catcher bats .253 with a .307 OBP.

Wilson and Evans numbers for UF on the season are pretty similar to our shit birds.  Burkes, a multi year starter, has had an atrocious offensive year for Ky.  Ole Miss had 3 sub.250 hitters in their lineup today.  Braswell, Hernandez aren’t overly inspiring for LSU.

Kentucky, last year, SEC Co-championship/CWS participant, had 3 guys with sub-.240 averages and less than .756 OPS. UF last year had 7 guys with 150 ABs and averages less than .261.  Comparable or worse slugging and OBP in several cases than Will.

Yes, we get it.  We all want top 3 level talent.  The holes that often mention are found in damn near every team, every year.  So if you are chirping about lacking SEC level talent, it’s bullshit.  And that’s nothing to say if you put a guy in a different lineup, with a different philosophy, in a shitty little ballpark, that those numbers don’t look different.  And congrats to that MSU for whipping hapless Missouri and blowing up their numbers.  Lotta hollow numbers in those 50 runs.

You even roughly previously quoted Schloss saying we need a stars to be great or something similar.  You don’t say?  We need our stars to be stars.  Oddly enough, ours weren’t all the time.  That’s a statement that downplays the rest of the guys.

And since Farmer didn’t play this weekend to speak of, was Borba was one of your 3?

In the end, a non-SEC team with non-SEC players handled us.  They did it at our place.  And looked pretty solid in doing so.

Probably time for people to roll into football and talk about how much production we lost and ignore how much production our opponents lost.

But Hook Em to you.  You’re seemingly a good and loyal fan.

I didn't look up stats but I feel like Flores, Gasparino, and Williams went 3 for 30 against UTSA and 0 for 15 with RISP.

Gasp and Flores were a combined 0-15 with 8 k. The only base appearances were 2 hbp, literally the only thing out of their control. mix in the absolute shit play at SS and what a disaster.

Williams actually had a decent Saturday at the plate.

Flores WAR might be a negative number at this point. For a guy that was pretty highly regarded, he  is one of the most un-clutch players I can remember.

Same as it ever was.  I think if you gave the acc or big 12 eight hosts per year they'd make omaha at a similar rate

I'm a big fan of Max Weiner and Tulowitzki but we hit more batters than anyone in the SEC and Gaspo and Flores regressed as the season progressed.

Why on the bolded? Outside of homeruns we absolutely suck at hitting as a whole. Same issues across two different HC's with him.

Weiner can be explained by injuries and lack of arm talent as a whole. But given our recruiting class and the work we're about to do in the portal I think overall we will be much better pitching staff moving forward.

Posted

Season long Flores and Gaspy were serious liabilities. Borba clearly improved including on defense. Flores at the SS spot has to be at least great on defense, he was not. His bat a tremendous liability. I think we certainly can expect a Texas SS to be great in the field and at the plate but I get many great SS prospects are gone, but with NIL there's even more honest expectation that Texas fields a SS that can catch and hit. seriously come the fuck on.

pitching was going to be a liability we thought anyway, DP left this team trashed in the bull pen. we really were fortunate to have Spencer and Riojas come in and dominate the first 2/3 of the year. With Grubbs and Volantis and Harrison coming a long we had a ridiculous run of good fortune unlike many years before, then Spencer and Riojas fell off for different reasons and we had to rely on our third starter as an ace. yeah, that shit just will not cut it, especially when the team's championship make up was defined by tops in the SEC in pitching and solid defense with a mid offense. pitching falls apart, offense regressed a bit more to lower mid and defense was whatever, doesn't matter.  no way this team was going to make a run. My natural optimistic self thought CWS was 50/50 at best.

now he has had a whole year to recruit and to get ready for the portal. I suspect he's got more cash available than DP had, so I bet next year will be competitive down the stretch. we will see.
