maybe

but I just don’t want a 2 yard tunnel screen to go for 65 yards

I don’t want a crossing route or a bomb going for 65 yards. The points all count the same. This is a good tackling team. I’ll take a chance on containing the dink and dunk versus getting smoked by the best WR off the line.

Well, she's still got it goin' ... and likes to dress stylishly hot (pretty much at all times in public).

Plus, the A/C in the rented Jeep Wrangler was keeping it cool.

To give the posters upthread some credit, Texas at Florida is certainly a big game for Texas fans. It’s most likely because the game is earlier in the season, but it feels like more Texas fans are planning road trips to The Swamp than to Athens.

Gerry brings up an OTF broadcast from Spurrier’s every podcast. There’s palpable excitement on our side.

One of the best things about the move to the sec is now we have only three conference teams who want to beat us more than any other team on their schedule and will focus and prepare accordingly.

In the Big 12 it was 9 teams a year.  And it made our schedule more difficult than it appeared on paper.

Also neutral refs helps

Yeah, an average aggy square showed us what we've got waiting for us at the vaunted swamp. Marcel Reed looked better there than he does against air.

Speaking of.  In Scipio's latest version of his Texas football mag - at least I think it's Scipio - he states that some dude did a study in 2020 where college fans were polled about their biggest rival.  I believe Texas was the response for 9; the next closest 3.  I'm wracking my brain.  What are the 9?

aggy

arky - LSU?

Tech - should be aggy

Baylor

Houston

TCU - should be SMU

OU, Rice  and SMU.  TCU SMU in my opinion only got big after dissolution of SWC , could be wrong though.  In the case of Rice and some others, it could also be who do you want to beat the most rather than biggest 'rival'.

You see dear little Rimbo, when a man really loves a woman, or really loves a man, or really loves a they them or their, they do things that just friends don’t do, well unless they are friends with benefits in which case they do the things that a man who loves a woman, or loves a man, or loves they them or their would do, except they might do it more because, well it’s less complicated, but anyway, one day you’ll know all about it when your 45 years old.

The only team whose hate we reciprocate equally is OU. The only other team that comes close is A&M. All the other teams hate us and we don't think about them at all.

I think I remember that article. There were some insane responses. West Virginia I believe was the surprise team of the 9.

WVU

piggy

aggy

OU

Tech

TCU

Baylor

Coug High

Rice

That’s my best guess. If Okie State, Iowa State, and Kansas State listed Texas the their primary rival during the dark Big 12 era after 2011, it wouldn’t shock me.

Here’s what I think the sports talkers and retail bettors picking OSU are missing:

1. OSU is trotting out a QB that has never started a game (and taken fewer than 20 game snaps) against a defense that has perhaps the best pass rush and front 7 in the country.  Defense travels.

2. OSU OL is still under construction against said defense.

3. OSU has new coordinators on both sides of the ball. An OC that got demoted and a DC hasn’t coached a defense in years and never in college.  It’s the first game for both.

4. Texas has a more proven RB room.

5. Sark is a wizard on the road, home field is getting too much emphasis.

6. OSU DL is not deep.  We saw how that worked out for Michigan.

I don’t see Sayin getting comfortable at all and Texas will be able to run the ball much more effectively, especially later in the game once the OSU DL depth issues take hold.  I still have 2010-2022 PTSD and am generally not optimistic about what I’m going to see on any particular Saturday but this matchup really seems to favor the Longhorns.

True.

Losing to them, however, is torture.

I will be happy to not be forced to listen to them bleat about having scoreboard for a year.

Gospel. It blows my mind that anyone would think differently.  This is one of those unalterable truisms along the lines of, "Make sure the gun is unloaded before trying to clean it."

There are a number of posters here who I think are perfectly fine to clean their gun while it was loaded…

Allows more press.

But maybe their cover 3 scheme allows jamming receivers at the optimal time anyway too.

I just know that without Chip Kelley this new guy is going to have some curve balls but he's also going to probably play it more safe, so we can't have the defense on the field the whole game, first game of the year getting worked and dinked and dunked is all. Gbenda got a pick in the playoff game so maybe we're going to be just fine running whatever scheme PK likes to run.

I don't think Gideon was some defensive mastermind that things are going to substantially change losing him. Personnel and individual instruction is obviously going to change but I think PK was the architect of the whole defense the whole time.

Watching this garbage, he's having success when nobody is within 5 yards of any receivers then nobody touches them wide open down the field... Obviously not a great scheme on D  to stop seams and corner routes.

I am not sure pressing the most physically gifted WR in the country is a great idea. Day is not a moron, he will have plenty of man beaters in his play book. We saw crossing routes in that film.

Cover 2 man is not a great run coverage. You are asking for front to stop the run game with honest numbers. I assume OSU will try to establish the run game. That said If Texas can stop the run with honest numbers, OSU will struggle to score.

You are assuming an offense with a QB starting his 1st game is capable of executing 10 play drives to score. I am not convinced that is the case. That is generally something PK bets on. Is it a bad game plan to force OSU to execute, bet that Texas will get them behind the chains over a course of a long drive, and lean on your pass rushers to end it?

Relying on press man will require 1st round NFL CB talent and that is not even a lock, because OSU has 1st round NFL WR talent. I could see PK mixing in more coverages. We will see Cover 3. He can also mix in some Cover 3 Cloud (roll up a CB to the flats on one side). Throw in some man and Cover 2/4 and some blitz packages. I think the worse thing to do vs a new QB is let him get comfortable with the coverage. That is why I brought up Ewers vs Bama. Sayin is a talented QB, if he knows where to go with the ball, he will have success. Mix up the looks make him hold the ball an extra second or 2 and hopefully that allows Colin to impact the game.

If your gun wasn’t loaded while you’re cleaning it, the King of England could just walk in and start shoving you around!
